The Civil Engineering Faculty at the University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen Lippe gives top priority to assuring that students receive a professional, practice oriented and state-of-the-art education with the degree programmes on offer.

As a result our faculty is the only nationwide university offering a seven semester bachelor degree programme with a work placement semester.
G,eneral agreement from various organisations within the construction industry is that "an education for civil engineers which is professionally based and responsible with regard to the general public covers at least 7 semesters. Engineering degree programmes, politically forced into 6 semester programmes endanger general safety and rob employers of qualified key staff and sacrifice, as a result, Germany's technical cutting-edge position".

The practice-oriented Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, on offer since the 2007/2008 winter semester, provides students with specialisation possibilities in the areas of operational construction management, construction engineering, transport and traffic engineering and water management. The degree programme runs for 7 semesters, whereby a 16 week work placement phase is included in the 6th semester of the degree programme.

The Industrial Construction Engineering Bachelor Degree (B.Eng), also on offer with 7 semesters since the 2007/2008 winter semester, provides the possibility of learning the basic principles of civil engineering along with business administration in 7 semesters. The basis for this degree programme is the new demands and requirements in the area of construction operations. The degree programme is internationally oriented with the possibility of doing a study semester abroad.

The degree programmes on offer at the Civil Engineering Faculty are rounded off with the 3 semester consecutive Master Degree Programme Construction, Real Estate and Sustainability. The focus areas of both bachelor degree programmes Civil Engineering and Industrial Construction Engineering are consequently carried forward into this study programme.

All degree programmes on offer in the Civil Engineering Faculty were successfully accredited on 24 May 2007 and 27 June 2008 by the ASIIN agency.
