However, few studies have explored how litter quality interacts with soil fungal communities to regulate SOC mineralization during successional changes in forest succession. We studied the relationship between litter quality, SOC mineralization, and associated fungal composition by conducting an in-situ decomposition experiment in a natural broadleaf forest and a pure Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) forest, where the succession in former forest arrested by structurally inferior bamboo grasses. On average, topsoil organic carbon mineralization increased by 73 % and subsoil by 233 % (only during autumn) following the broadleaf forest transitions to bamboo dominance. More decomposable litterfall in the bamboo forests increased the abundance of saprophytic fungi (e.g., Mortierellales and Chaetothyriales orders) and enhanced topsoil degradation functions, promoting SOC mineralization compared to the broadleaf forest. Higher water-soluble organic carbon content increased subsoil organic carbon mineralization by increasing the abundance of Mortierellales order. Our results emphasized the importance of interaction between litter quality and fungal composition (especially saprophytic fungi) regulated SOC mineralization in arrested succession. The enhanced SOC mineralization after the broadleaf forest transition to bamboo forest suggested that the traits of Moso bamboo, such as fast litterfall decomposition, can accelerate SOC mineralization to reinforce its dominance. By examining the role of microbial decomposition in regulating soil nutrient dynamics in the context of arrested succession, our study offered a unique mechanistic perspective on the belowground drivers of bamboo dominance, with important implications for forest structure and function."}],"type":"scientific_journal_article","publisher":"Elsevier BV","external_id":{"isi":["001446454000001"]},"doi":"10.1016/j.apsoil.2025.106006","date_updated":"2025-06-25T12:37:59Z","publication":" Applied soil ecology : a section of agriculture, ecosystems & environment","_id":"12845","article_number":"106006","publication_identifier":{"eissn":["1873-0272"],"issn":["0929-1393"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Qiumei","last_name":"Teng","full_name":"Teng, Qiumei"},{"full_name":"Fang, Tao","last_name":"Fang","first_name":"Tao"},{"last_name":"Zhang","full_name":"Zhang, Qianqian","first_name":"Qianqian"},{"first_name":"Anna","id":"87876","last_name":"Gunina","full_name":"Gunina, Anna"},{"first_name":"Aiyu","last_name":"Zheng","full_name":"Zheng, Aiyu"},{"first_name":"Zhaoliang","last_name":"Song","full_name":"Song, Zhaoliang"},{"first_name":"Jingyun","full_name":"Zhou, Jingyun","last_name":"Zhou"},{"first_name":"Scott X.","full_name":"Chang, Scott X.","last_name":"Chang"},{"first_name":"Yongchun","last_name":"Li","full_name":"Li, Yongchun"}],"intvolume":" 209","isi":"1","publication_status":"published","volume":209,"date_created":"2025-04-23T12:21:29Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"citation":{"havard":"Q. This study examined the impact of these contaminants on the bacterial loads of pig carcasses, using total bacterial counts and Enterobacteriaceae counts as hygiene indicators. Examination of the substances as such showed that intestinal and stomach contents were particularly conspicuous to undermine the carcase hygiene due to total bacterial counts of similar to 6.0 log10 CFU g-1 (intestinal content) and 5.5 log10 CFU g-1 (stomach content). Tubular rail fat showed varying contamination levels, from low (3.1 log10 CFU g-1) to high (6.4 log10 CFU g-1). The reddish foam had moderate contamination (4.3 log10 CFU g-1). Enterobacteriaceae levels mirrored these results at a lower level. Subsequently, a comparative study analysing bacterial levels in contaminated and in noncontaminated pork rind regions was performed. Even small amounts of intestinal and stomach contents led to significant increases in total bacterial counts of up to 3 log10 CFU cm-(2) and in Enterobacteriaceae counts (up to 5 log10 CFU cm-(2)). Other contaminants did not significantly raise bacterial levels: their total viable counts around 3.5 log10 CFU cm-(2) were similar to those of uncontaminated carcass areas. Nevertheless, they should be removed before further processing."}],"department":[{"_id":"DEP4029"}],"user_id":"83781","year":"2024","status":"public","issue":"12","external_id":{"isi":["001379203200001"],"pmid":["39657079"]},"quality_controlled":"1","date_updated":"2025-06-25T13:09:31Z","doi":"https://doi.org/10.1093/lambio/ovae125","type":"scientific_journal_article","publisher":"Wiley-Blackwell"},{"_id":"4919","oa":"1","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://ediss.sub.uni-hamburg.de/handle/ediss/8756 "}],"title":"Applied Investigations on Wood-Based Composites in the Context of X-Ray Densitometry","alternative_title":["Angewandte Untersuchungen an Holzwerkstoffen im Zusammenhang mit der Dichtemessung mittels Röntgenstrahlung"],"citation":{"chicago":"Solbrig, Konrad. Applied Investigations on Wood-Based Composites in the Context of X-Ray Densitometry. The first six weeks served as an adaptation period from the low energetic straw-based diet (3.8 MJ NEL/kg DM) to the high-energetic ration (7.5 MJ NEL/kg DM). Intake of dry matter (DM) increased with dietary energy concentration from 9 to 20 kg/d up to week 9 to 12 and decreased thereafter. The initial live weight (LW) of 550 ± 60 kg was increased linearly and corresponded to an average daily LW gain of 2.3 ± 0.3 kg. Energy balance increased approximately nine-fold to a maximum of 114 MJ NEL/d in week 10. Ruminal fermentation pattern was completely changed from an acetate dominating profile to a propionate based one, which was paralleled by a marked increase in the rumen fluid endotoxin concentration. Unlike blood glucose concentration, which increased continuously, that of cholesterol and triglycerides started to increase after an initial stagnation. In conclusion, both ruminal adaptation to a high-energetic diet and the continued feeding of such a diet induced digestive and metabolic adaptations in non-pregnant, non-lactating cows characterised by a progressing positive energy balance.","lang":"eng"}],"page":"460-477","extern":"1","keyword":["blood chemistry","dairy cows","endotoxins","energy balance","energy content","rumen fermentation"],"publisher":"Taylor & Francis","type":"scientific_journal_article","doi":"10.1080/1745039x.2014.973243","date_updated":"2025-06-18T12:23:01Z","quality_controlled":"1","issue":"6"}]
