Despite recuperation, the heat requirement is very high and can be significantly reduced by lowering the maximum temperature in the pasteurizer. The current practice of calculating the lethal heat effect is based on the so-called beer formula using a globalized z-value for the temperature dependence of the inactivation. The premise experiments here is that for products containing sugar, such as malt beer, yeast cells pose the greatest danger. Therefore, the D values at various temperatures and the z values of three of the Krombacher Brewery's own yeasts (bottom-fermenting and top-fermenting) were determined in the laboratory using the capillary method. In a challenge test in the brewery, bottles with different products were inoculated with these yeasts and samples were taken from the industrial pasteurizer every two minutes and examined for viable cell counts. We contribute to closing this gap by asking under which conditions firms – each of which occupies a unique position along the automotive industry value chain – may overcome innovation barriers and spend scarce resources for collective R&D projects. We use a framed laboratory experiment to scrutinize the of different situations on the decision to spend the R&D budget for individual or collective R&D projects. The framing originates from a real-world case study of the massive metal forging industry. However, the shift from combustion engines to e-mobility drive trains is restructuring the industry. Accordingly, this paper analyzes the determinants affecting the emergence of e-mobility drive technologies in the automotive sector. In doing so, we emphasize the role of digital technologies in the sector’s environmental transformation, drawing from the “twin-transition” framework, where digital and green shifts mutually influence one another. Methodically, we use an event-history approach to empirically explore the early appearance of R&D activities in the form of patent-based or funded-project-based collaboration events at the regional level over the period 1990 to 2018. Our results indicate positive and significant relatedness between various digitalization variables and the early emergence of e-mobility activities in regions. For the future, we envision drones that are intuitively controllable with new input devices. One possibility could be the use of one-hand controllers. Here, we present an exploration of using a 3-D mouse as a controller for human-drone interaction. We ran a pre-study that investigated the users’ natural spatial mapping between controller and drone dimensions. Based on these results we developed our prototype that shows the feasibility of our concept. A series of flight tests were conducted and the mapping between controller and flight movements were iteratively improved.
