AI-based services in the form of virtual (e.g., chatbot) or physical (e.g., service robot) embodiments, which are characterized by a higher degree of autonomy and are intended to augment the tasks of human employees in a highly collaborative way, will increasingly become an integral part of employee’s work environment. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group discussion have been used to identify constructs driving employees’ perception of AI-based services and their impact on wellbeing. Combined with a thorough literature analysis, relations between the identified constructs have been derived from introducing a conceptual model of employees’ willingness to collaborate (WTC). This study identifies technology characteristics, job demands, resources, and control as constructs, directly influencing employees’ perceived risk of AI-based services.}},

abstract = {{Additive manufacturing (AM) and rapid prototyping process (RPP) have revolutionized the production of 3D objects in the last few decades. RPP has considerably increased the rate of production and the possibility of manufacturing prototypes in the fields of electrical, optical, and mechanical engineering. The manufacturing of optical prototypes including spherical, aspheric, and special kinds of lenses and lens arrays has reformed the fabrication of optical components. In this paper, specifically designed lens array prototypes for application in visible light communication (VLC) are introduced. These lens array prototypes are manufactured using the stereolithography apparatus (SLA) process. These lens arrays are designed to achieve optimal transmission of the light beam for VLC systems. One of the prototypes from the lens arrays contains primarily four spherical lenses and one thicker convex lens and the other contains one fresnel lens as a substitute for thicker convex lens. These lens arrays are further post-processed to achieve the required transparency. These lens array prototypes are tested using laser and LEDs. The ON-OFF keying modulated light beam was transmitted through the lens array at the sender side and focused on the photo-receiver using another lens array at the receiver side which is 200 cm apart. After evaluating these lens prototypes, it can be concluded that with appropriate post-processing and high-resolution stereolithography based manufacturing, a low data rate VLC link can be formed.}},

To determine whether there is an effect on the biological methanation of CO2 and H2 from renewable sources or not, the process was investigated using feed gases containing CO2, H2, and N2 in different ratios, depending on the CO2 content. A possible effect can be a lowered conversion rate of CO2 and H2 to CH4. Feed gases containing up to 47N2 were investigated. The conversion of hydrogen and carbon dioxide was possible with a conversion rate of up to 91 but was limited by the amount of H2 when feeding a stoichiometric ratio of 4:1 and not by adding N2 to the feed gas.
}},

abstract = {{Nowadays, the boost of optical imaging technologies results in more data with a faster rate are being collected. Consequently, data and knowledge discovery science has become an attractive and a fast growing topic in several industry and research area. Motif discovery in image processing aims to tackle the problem of deriving structures or detecting regularities in image databases. Most of the motif discovery methods first convert images into time series and then attempt to find motifs in such data. This might lead to information loss and also the problem of inability to detect shifted and multi-scale image motifs of different size. Here, a method is proposed to find image motifs of different size in image datasets by applying images in original dimension without converting them to time series. Images are inspected by the Complex Quad Tree Wavelet Packet transform which provides broad frequency analysis of an image in various scales. Next, features are extracted from the wavelet coefficients. Finally, image motifs are detected by measuring the similarity of the features. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated on a dataset with images from diverse applications, such as hand gesture, text recognition, leaf and plant identification, etc. }},

abstract = {{Many low-cost 3D printers have been brought to market over the last couple of years. Most of them apply a Fused Layer Manufacturing (FLM) process, and have made 3D printing a great success amongst hobbyists, the maker community and students. One drawback of such inexpensive equipment is a limited build envelope, which prevents this from becoming a significant contributor to industrial production. To overcome these limits, it is not sufficient to simply upscale dimensions, but the overall concept of such machines must be completely re-thought, as well as the concepts behind several building blocks, components and the process software system.
Problems such as shrinkage of build material, support material and machine parts in combination with long printer head travels, temperature distribution and moisture effects all have to be solved. In addition, larger parts need longer process times. Therefore, reduction of process times and an increase in productivity are necessary in order to enable economic production.
Some of these problems can be solved by using more than one printer head for production, by using new materials and inventing new nozzle systems as distinct solutions for big printers. Nevertheless, to solve all these problems, the development of special machines for large parts is necessary: not component-wise but as a whole system. Large parts could then be successfully produced in several industries, using large, inexpensive FLMmachines.

abstract = {{Order picking has long been identified as the most labor costly and intensively activity in warehouse management. The orders from the customers need to be fulfilled tightly and timely. In order to keep the required high service level, the warehouse has to increase the picking productivity under the constraints of limited capacity. This paper concerns a man-togoods order picking system, in which the order pickers have to drive with a pallet jack to the storage locations. Considering that the orders are mostly small orders which consist of less lines, it is efficient to combine severalsingle customer orders into one picking order. Under this circumstance, this paper intends to answer the question of how customer orders should be grouped into picking orders with the aim of minimizing the total travel length through the warehouse. Consequently the productivity of the order picking system can be improved. An optimization problem for order batching is introduced. The optimization method of order batching is then proposed. Based on the simulation of different scenarios of incoming orders, it can be concluded that the developed method is effective in improving the productivity of the concerned order picking system.

Subsequently, the characteristics of knitted fabric are analysed by machine-learning (ML) methods. Our concept includes motor-current analysis and image processing. abstract = {{Today, mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) are widespread and of high importance for their users. Their performance as well as versatility increases over time. This leads to the opportunity to use such devices for more specific tasks like image processing in an industrial context. For the analysis of images requirements like image quality (blur, illumination, etc.) as well as a defined relative position of the object to be inspected are crucial. Since mobile devices are handheld and used in constantly changing environments the challenge is to fulfill these requirements. We present an approach to overcome the obstacles and stabilize the image capturing process such that image analysis becomes significantly improved on mobile devices. Therefore, image processing methods are combined with sensor fusion concepts. The approach consists of three main parts. First, pose estimation methods are used to guide a user moving the device to a defined position. Second, the sensors data and the pose information are combined for relative motion estimation. Finally, the image capturing process is automated. It is triggered depending on the alignment of the device and the object as well as the image quality that can be achieved under consideration of motion and environmental effects.}},

In this paper, we will present a hardware-accelerated image processing and classification system which is implemented on one field-programmable gate array (FPGA). Nonlinear discrete circular transforms generate a feature vector. The features are analyzed by a fuzzy classifier. This principle can be used for feature extraction, pattern recognition, and classification tasks. Implementation in radix-2 structures is possible, allowing fast calculations with a computational complexity of up to. Furthermore, the pattern separability properties of these transforms are better than those achieved with the well-known method based on the power spectrum of the Fourier Transform, or on several other transforms. Using different signal flow structures, the transforms can be adapted to different image and signal processing applications.}},
