As climate change continues to unfold, understanding the potential evaporative water losses from lakes becomes crucial for effective water management strategies. Here we investigate the impacts of climate change on the evaporation rates of 23 European lakes and reservoirs of varying size during the warm season (July–September). To assess the evaporation trends, we employ a 12-member ensemble of model projections, utilizing three one-dimensional process-based lake models. These lake models were driven by bias-corrected climate simulations from four General Circulation Models (GCMs), considering both a historical (1970–2005) and future (2006–2099) period. Our findings reveal a consistent projection of increased warm-season evaporation across all lakes this century, though the magnitude varies depending on specific factors. By the end of this century (2070–2099), we estimate a 21%, 30% and 42% average increase in evaporation rates in the studied European lakes under RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) 2.6, 6.0 and 8.5, respectively. Moreover, future projections of the relationship between precipitation (P) and evaporation (E) in the studied lakes, suggest that P-E will decrease this century, likely leading to a deficit in the availability of surface water. The projected increases in evaporation rates underscore the significance of adapting strategic management approaches for European lakes to cope with the far-reaching consequences of climate change.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"12","publisher":"Springer","quality_controlled":"1","type":"scientific_journal_article","user_id":"83781","intvolume":" 177","place":"Dordrecht [u.a.] ","_id":"12207","article_number":"173","doi":"10.1007/s10584-024-03830-2"},{"citation":{"ama":"Shikhani M, Feldbauer J, Ladwig R, et al. We present a dual ensemble workflow coupling climate models with lake models. We used a large set of simulations across multiple domains, multi‐scenario, and multi GCM‐ RCM combinations from CORDEX data. We forced a set of multiple hydrodynamic lake models by these multiple climate simulations to explore climate change impacts on lakes. We also quantified the contributions from the different models to the overall uncertainty. We employed this workflow to investigate the effects of climate change on Lake Sevan (Armenia). We predicted for the end of the 21st century, under RCP 8.5, a sharp increase in surface temperature and substantial bottom warming , longer stratification periods (+55 days) and disappearance of ice cover leading to a shift in mixing regime. Increased insufficient cooling during warmer winters points to the vulnerability of Lake Sevan to climate change. Our workflow leverages the strengths of multiple models at several levels of the model chain to provide a more robust projection and at the same time a better uncertainty estimate that accounts for the contributions of the different model levels to overall uncertainty. Although for specific variables, for example, summer bottom temperature, single lake models may perform better, the full ensemble provides a robust estimate of thermal dynamics that has a high transferability so that our workflow can be a blueprint for climate impact studies in other systems."}],"user_id":"83781","intvolume":" 60","type":"scientific_journal_article","place":"New York, NY","_id":"12855","doi":"10.1029/2023wr036511"},{"keyword":["Werkstätten für behinderte Menschen","Resource- constrained Project Scheduling Problem","Aufgabenauswahl","Simulation"],"language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"date_updated":"2023-06-29T12:25:51Z","publication":"Nachhaltig Arbeiten und Lernen - Analyse und Gestaltung lernförderlicher und nachhaltiger Arbeitssysteme und Arbeits und Lernprozesse","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["978-3-936804-32-4"]},"date_created":"2023-06-26T11:30:06Z","status":"public","year":"2023","author":[{"first_name":"Jan-Phillip","last_name":"Herrmann","full_name":"Herrmann, Jan-Phillip","id":"75846"},{"full_name":"Tackenberg, Sven","last_name":"Tackenberg","id":"71470","first_name":"Sven"},{"full_name":"Duckwitz, Sönke","first_name":"Sönke","last_name":"Duckwitz"}],"volume":40,"citation":{"ama":"Herrmann JP, Tackenberg S, Duckwitz S. Konzept für die operative Fertigungsplanung unter Berücksichtigung der Kompetenzen von Personen mit Unterstützungsbedarf in Werkstätten für behinderte Menschen. However, the already existing shortage of professional caregivers will exacerbate in the future. As a result, family caregivers must shoulder a heavier share of the care burden. To ease the burden and promote a better work-life balance, we developed the Digital Case Manager. This tool uses machine learning algorithms to learn the relationship between a care situation and the next care steps and helps family caregivers balance their professional and private lives so that they are able to continue caring for their family members without sacrificing their own jobs and personal ambitions. The data for the machine learning model are generated by means of a questionnaire based on professional assessment instruments. We implemented a proof-of-concept of the Digital Case Manager and initial tests show promising results. It offers a quick and easy-to-use tool for family caregivers in the early stages of a care situation."}],"issue":"2","department":[{"_id":"DEP5023"},{"_id":"DEP5000"}],"publication_status":"published","isi":"1","article_number":"1215","doi":"10.3390/ijerph20021215","_id":"12785","place":"Basel","intvolume":" 20","user_id":"83781","type":"scientific_journal_article"},{"place":"Basel","doi":"10.3390/pr10050883","article_number":"883","_id":"11377","user_id":"83781","intvolume":" 10","type":"scientific_journal_article","publisher":"MDPI AG","department":[{"_id":"DEP4000"}],"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
consuming and often performed rather empirically. Advanced planning and scheduling (APS) systems provide these capabilities and are an extension for ERP systems. However, when integrating an APS and ERP system, the ERP data frequently lacks quality, hindering the APS system from working as required. This paper introduces a data quality (DQ) assessment framework that employs a Bayesian Network (BN) to perform quick DQ assessments based on expert interviews and DQ measurements with actual ERP data. We explain the BN’s functionality, design, and validation and show how using the perceived DQ of experts and a semi-supervised learning algorithm improves the BN’s predictions over time. We discuss applying our framework in an APS system implementation project involving an APS system provider and a medium-sized manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders. Despite considering the DQ assessment framework in such a specific context, it is not restricted to a particular domain. We close by discussing the framework’s limits, particularly the BN as a DQ assessment methodology and future works to improve its performance.","lang":"eng"}],"author":[{"full_name":"Herrmann, Jan-Phillip","first_name":"Jan-Phillip","id":"75846","last_name":"Herrmann"},{"full_name":"Tackenberg, Sven","last_name":"Tackenberg","id":"71470","first_name":"Sven"},{"last_name":"Padoano","first_name":"Elio","full_name":"Padoano, Elio"},{"last_name":"Hartlief","first_name":"Jörg","full_name":"Hartlief, Jörg"},{"last_name":" Rautenstengel","first_name":"Jens","full_name":" Rautenstengel, Jens"},{"full_name":"Loeser, Christine","first_name":"Christine","last_name":"Loeser"},{"first_name":"Jörg ","last_name":"Böhme","full_name":"Böhme, Jörg "}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1877050922002277"}],"year":"2022","department":[{"_id":"DEP7020"}],"publisher":"Elsevier","quality_controlled":"1","status":"public","page":"194-204","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1877-0509 "]},"publication":"Procedia Computer Science","type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-01-25T12:00:32Z","intvolume":" 200","user_id":"83781","date_updated":"2024-08-06T11:45:41Z","oa":"1","_id":"9356","doi":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procs.2022.01.218","keyword":["Data Quality Assessment","Advanced Planning","Scheduling","Bayesian Network","Enterprise Resource Planning"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"volume":"special issue","citation":{"apa":"Hernández Rodriguez, T., Sekulic, A., Lange-Hegermann, M., & Frahm, B. It describes the fit between elements of a sociotechnical system which is a prerequisite to successfully cooperate towards a common goal. For at least three decades, cognitive compatibility is of increasing importance. It describes the fit of externally presented information, information processing, and the required motor action. However, with increasing system complexity, probability for incompatibility increases, too, leading to time losses, errors and overall degraded performance. The elimination of cognitive incompatibilities through ergonomic measures at the workplace requires a lot of creativity and effort. Using practical examples from mixed-model assembly, improved information management and the use of informational assistance systems are discussed as promising ergonomic approaches. The ultimate goal is to avoid cognitive overload, for example in part picking or assembly tools choosing. To find a fit between externally mediated work instructions via displays and the subjectively used internal models and competencies is a challenging task. Only if this fit is given the system is perceived as beneficial. To achieve this, the assistance system should be configurable to fit individual needs as far as possible. Successful system design requires early participation and comprehensive integration of the assistance systems into the existing IT infrastructure.\r\n\r\nPractical relevance: Varied manual assembly requires a high degree of cognitive work. A rise in complexity of the assembly task increases the risk that cognitive incompatibility and thus cognitive overload will occur more frequently. It is shown that such unhealthy conditions can be countered by better information presentation and by the use of individually adaptable informational assistance systems."}],"user_id":"49010","date_updated":"2023-03-15T13:50:08Z","publication":"Zeitschrift für Arbeitswissenschaft","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0340-2444","2366-4681"]},"date_created":"2021-12-21T17:13:23Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Compatibility","Mental model","Mental workload","Multi-model assembly","Informational assistance systems"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"6925","doi":"10.1007/s41449-021-00296-1"},{"abstract":[{"text":"In industriellen Szenarien wächst seit Längerem der Bedarf an drahtloser und zuverlässiger Kommunikation. In smart factories, network transmission has multiprotocol features of wired/wireless communication, and different data flows have different real-time requirements. In this article, a heterogeneous network architecture based on software-defined network is proposed for realizing cross-network flexible forwarding of multisource manufacturing data and optimized utilization of network resources. Subsequently, the mechanism of cross-network fusion and scheduling (CNFS) is analyzed from the perspective of high dynamic characteristics and different delay requirements of data flows. Based on this analysis, a route-aware data flow dynamic reconstruction algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm improves the efficiency of manufacturing data cross-network fusion, especially for multivariety and small-batch intelligent manufacturing systems. Furthermore, for meeting the bandwidth requirements of different delay flows, a delay-sensitive network bandwidth scheduling algorithm is proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed CNFS mechanism is verified using a candy packaging intelligent production line prototype platform."}],"issue":"9","date_updated":"2025-06-26T13:26:20Z","date_created":"2025-04-23T08:35:16Z","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1551-3203"],"eissn":["1941-0050"]},"publication":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"keyword":["Heterogeneous networks","Real-time systems","Bandwidth","Job shop scheduling","Smart manufacturing","Computer architecture","Cross-network fusion","heterogeneous networks","network resource"],"citation":{"ufg":"Wan, Jiafu u. a.: Cross-Network Fusion and Scheduling for Heterogeneous Networks in Smart Factory, in: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics 16 (2019), H. 9, S. 6059–6068.","mla":"Wan, Jiafu, et al. “Cross-Network Fusion and Scheduling for Heterogeneous Networks in Smart Factory.” IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, vol. 16, no. 9, 2019, pp. 6059–68, https://doi.org/10.1109/tii.2019.2952669.","havard":"J. It is the samefor the material flow system with automated guided vehicles (AGVs). To realize the flexibility and scalability, it is recommended to decentralized control the vehicles. As an attempt, a concept of swarm intelligence with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is proposed and introduced in this article. The concept is supposed to be used for automated guided vehicle systems in which objects have to be transported from place to place. Therefore the object has to be self-organized and has to manage its own transport. In this context the vehicles have to choose the most optimal transportation. Swarm intelligence is a topic which deserves a high level of attention as a method to realize high flexibility and scalability.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","conference":{"end_date":"2016-09-30","start_date":"2016-09-29","name":"Proceedings 6th International Conference","location":"Lemgo"},"department":[{"_id":"DEP7000"},{"_id":"DEP1306"}],"publication_status":"published"},{"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"keyword":["Multi-resource-mix","Rainwater and floodwater harvesting","Solar-coupled groundwater desalination","Sanitation and water reuse","Transdisciplinarity"],"editor":[{"first_name":"Dietrich","last_name":"Borchardt","full_name":"Borchardt, Dietrich"}],"date_updated":"2023-07-12T09:23:15Z","date_created":"2023-06-30T06:30:28Z","publication_identifier":{"eisbn":["978-3-319-25071-7"],"isbn":["978-3-319-79729-8","978-3-319-25069-4"]},"publication":"Integrated Water Resources Management: Concept, Research and Implementation","page":"683–717","status":"public","author":[{"last_name":"Lier","full_name":"Lier, Stephan","first_name":"Stephan"},{"last_name":"Brenda","first_name":"Maria","full_name":"Brenda, Maria"},{"first_name":"Peter","last_name":"Cornel","full_name":"Cornel, Peter"},{"last_name":"Deffner","first_name":"Juta","full_name":"Deffner, Juta"},{"last_name":"Felmeden","id":"81335","full_name":"Felmeden, Jörg","first_name":"Jörg"},{"first_name":"Alexander","full_name":"Jokisch, Alexander","last_name":"Jokisch"},{"last_name":"Kluge","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Kluge, Thomas"},{"last_name":"Müller","first_name":"Katherina","full_name":"Müller, Katherina"},{"full_name":"Röhrig, Julian","first_name":"Julian","last_name":"Röhrig"},{"first_name":"Vanessa","last_name":"Stibitz","full_name":"Stibitz, Vanessa"},{"first_name":"Wilhelm","last_name":"Urban","full_name":"Urban, Wilhelm"}],"year":"2016","citation":{"apa":"Lier, S., Brenda, M., Cornel, P., Deffner, J., Felmeden, J., Jokisch, A., Kluge, T., Müller, K., Röhrig, J., Stibitz, V., & Urban, W. The Cuvelai-Etosha Basin (CEB) in central northern Namibia in particular is experiencing various ecological and social-ecological challenges such as high climate variability, saline groundwater, dependence on Angola for freshwater supply, high population growth and density, and increasing urbanisation. These challenges make water supply and management difficult and threaten the livelihood of the local population and the health of the ecosystem. Facing up to these challenges, the German-Namibian research project CuveWaters has developed, adapted and set up different technologies as pilot plant s. The Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) concept of CuveWaters is based on a multi-resource-mix in which water is obtained from different sources (rainwater, floodwater, groundwater and wastewater) and used for various purposes. High quality water is used as drinking water; water of a relatively low quality is used for irrigation. In cooperation with the residents of four villages and one small town, the project partners are implementing different technologies to collect and store, produce, treat and reuse water. The implemented technologies are rain- and floodwater harvesting, groundwater desalination, and the combination of sanitation, wastewater treatment and water reuse. The aim is to improve peoples’ livelihood through research on innovative and adapted solutions which contribute to a successful and adapted application of IWRM. To this end, the project integrates science, technology and societal aspects in a transdisciplinary research approach by linking scientific knowledge from natural, engineering and social sciences with the everyday practices and know-how of the stakeholders involved. Thus, the technical aspects are complemented by a wide range of societal and scientific components, such as capacity development, monitoring, participation or knowledge management. These ensure societal embedding of the technologies and knowledge transfer. This paper will illustrate the transdisciplinary approach, implemented technologies and accompanying measures as well as key results."}],"department":[{"_id":"DEP3021"}],"publication_status":"published"},{"publisher":"Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe","issue":"1","abstract":[{"text":"This paper is aimed to discuss current research using data mining techniques and industry statistics in production environments. The general research approach is based on the idea of using data mining processes and techniques of industry statistics to find rare and hidden patterns behind failures of complex components. A case study will be applied to illustrate how the technique is carried out and where the limits of this approach occur. The case study deals with a component supplier of printing machines, which received an increasing number of client complaints, all related to one distinct problem. The observed failures seem to occur only among clients with very high quality standards. The affected component undergoes a very complex production process with several steps in different departments. Every single production unit records data information from multiple process variables and at different points in time. In the beginning there was no understanding of the failure causes in production at all. Therefore a huge amount of production data had to be analyzed to find the pattern that discloses the failure.\r\nThe data mining process starts with a first step in which the given data sets are prepared and then cleaned. Followed up by building a prediction model. The aim is to detect the root causes for failures and to predict potential failures in affected components. This paper shows how to use data mining to get the answer on pressing production failures.\r\n","lang":"eng"}],"conference":{"location":"Trieste, Italy","name":"5th International Conference \"Production Engineering and Management\" ","end_date":"2015-10-02","start_date":"2015-10-01"},"department":[{"_id":"DEP7000"},{"_id":"DEP1306"}],"publication_status":"published","_id":"597","place":"Lemgo","user_id":"83781","type":"conference","page":"163-174","status":"public","year":"2015","author":[{"last_name":"Scheideler","id":"61522","full_name":"Scheideler, Eva","first_name":"Eva"},{"full_name":"Ahlemeyer-Stubbe, Andrea","last_name":"Ahlemeyer-Stubbe","first_name":"Andrea"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://www.hs-owl.de/fileadmin/diman/Veroeffentlichungen/PEM_Tagung_zusammen2015.pdf"}],"citation":{"apa":"Scheideler, E., & Ahlemeyer-Stubbe, A. To create an effective and efficient knowledge discovery process, it is important to support common data manipulation tasks by creating quick, responsive and intuitive interaction methods. In this paper we describe some methods for interactive longitudinal data visualization with focus on the usage of mobile multi-touch devices as interaction medium, based on our design and development experiences. We argue that when it comes to longitudinal data this device category offers remarkable additional interaction benefits compared to standard point-and-click desktop computer devices. An important advantage of multi-touch devices arises when interacting with particularly large longitudinal data sets: Complex, coupled interactions such as zooming into a region and scrolling around almost simultaneously is more easily achieved with the possibilities of a multi-touch device than compared to a regular mouse-based interaction device."}],"conference":{"end_date":"2014-09-12","start_date":"2014-09-08","name":"5 International Cross-Domain Conference, CD-ARES 2014 and 4th International Workshop on Security and Cognitive Informatics for Homeland Defense, SeCIHD 2014","location":"Fribourg, Switzerland"},"department":[{"_id":"DEP5023"}]},{"page":"134","status":"public","publisher":"Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe","department":[{"_id":"DEP2001"}],"ddc":["004"],"year":2008,"author":[{"first_name":"Fabian","full_name":"Denninger, Fabian","last_name":"Denninger"}],"publication_status":"published","citation":{"apa":"Denninger, F.
