--- _id: '13225' abstract: - lang: eng text: In recent years, there has been an increasing awareness of the importance of incorporating diversity into research projects, focusing on both how they are conducted and their content. Funding organizations have started to require that research applicants pay attention to inclusion and diversity by considering gender dimensions and other diversity factors in their project plans and ensuring gender equality during execution. Based on an extensive literature research and expert discussions on how to develop and implement diversity strategies in large collaborative research projects, we argue that there is a lack of practical advice in existing literature. Now, twenty-five years later, we take this milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of the topics that have shaped the landscape ecology discourse within the IALE-D community. In this editorial, we (1) present the history of the IALE-D conferences, (2) reflect on the topics addressed by the conference contributions and how they have developed, and (3) offer some initial indications of changes in relevance with regard to technological advances, thematic foci, transdisciplinarity, sustainability issues, and cultural dimensions that can be observed over time. This editorial commemorates this historic occasion, tracing the journey from the inception of Africa-IALE initiatives in 2002 to the culmination of the World Congress held in Nairobi, Kenya, almost two decades later. Having previously graced Europe, Northern America, Australia, and Asia, the IALE World Congress embraced Africa, showcasing the global reach and inclusive spirit of landscape ecology. This editorial explores the evolution of Africa-IALE, highlighting the initiatives and the persistent efforts that led to the World Congress in Africa. We firstly delve into the socio-cultural and international significance of this shift, emphasising the unique perspectives and challenges faced by the African landscape ecology community. Secondly, we assess the participants involved in the 11th World IALE Congress, the topics discussed, current trends, and priorities within the global landscape ecology research community. To do so, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of the conference proceedings. Lastly, we reflect on the impacts of this Congress. Nonetheless, investigations of trends in publication behavior and emergence as well as changes in IS research are usually narrowly focused. This article contributes to the growing number of articles published in the IS domain by analyzing the evolution of trends and major research fields as well as the regional distribution of publications in the AIS Senior Scholars' Basket of Eight (AIS Bo8) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), changes in publication behavior, and the emergence of as well as changes to IS research fields and trends. Our semi-automated literature review integrates scientific methods to support the review and classification of publications. Based on 6692 articles published in the ICIS proceedings and the AIS Bo8 journals in a period of 16 years, we elaborate the key characteristics of research development. Our contribution provides and interprets a contemporaneous account of contextual factors influencing the IS research domain. The system will collect teaching and learning materials in audio and video formats (e.g., podcasts, lecture recordings, screencasts, and explainer videos), and store them on a learning experience platform (LXP). Then, the ITS will process them with the help of speech recognition to gain data which, in turn, will be used to power further applications: Using artificial intelligence (AI), the platform will allow users to search the materials, automatically compiling them according to criteria like lesson subject, language, medium, or required prior knowledge. By the end of the last DBR cycle, the ITS will also provide a more active form of support: It will automatically generate exercises based on predefined patterns and teaching materials, thus allowing learners to check up on their learning progress autonomously. In order to closely match the ITS''s features to the needs and learning habits of students in higher education, the development of this AI-based tutoring system is accompanied by an interdisciplinary team which will continuously re-evaluate and adapt the concept over the course of several DBR cycles. The provision of smart services combined with product portfolios is advantageous because individual contexts of customers who use the products are addressed. While various and frequently changing data are collected and analyzed, specific knowledge is necessary to turn data into valuable information. A knowledge management system (KMS) adapted to requirements of provided smart services is necessary to aggregate, maintain, and provide knowledge. With a comprehensive literature review over 157 papers, we extracted requirements for KMS for smart services (Smart Service KMS). We present ten design principles derived from the requirements focusing on how tailored Smart Service KMS can be designed. We contribute to the theory by providing an overview about crucial requirements of Smart Service KMS. Although comprehensive surveys have taken account of the state of the art, the design space of industrial augmented and virtual reality keeps diversifying. We propose a visual approach towards assessing this space and present an interactive, community-driven tool which supports interested researchers and practitioners in gaining an overview of the aforementioned design space. In the introduction the resilience approach is presented as one possibility to describe ecosystem dynamics. The relations with the concepts of adaptability and ecological integrity are discussed and the research questions are formulated. The focal research objectives are related to the conditions of resilient behaviour of ecosystems, the role of spatio-temporal scales, the differences between short- or long-term dynamics, the basic methodological requirements to exactly define resilience, the role of the reference state and indicators and the suitability of resilience as a management concept. The main part of the paper consists of 13 small case study descriptions, which demonstrate phase transitions and resilient dynamics of several terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems at different time scales. In the discussion, some problems arising from the interpretation of the time series are highlighted and discussed. The topics of discussion are the conceptual challenges of the resilience approach, methodological problems, the role of indicator selection, the complex interactions between different disturbances, the significance of time scales and a comparison of the case studies.
