text: The Toothed Orchid, Neotinea tridentata, has been elected for Orchid of
the Year 2019 by the steering committees of the German Native Orchids Associations (Arbeitskreise
Heimische Orchideen Deutschlands, AHO) Etymology, characteristics and life cycle
as well as ecology and habitat of the species are specified. The range of the
species is described and a distribution map is presented for Germany. Threats
are discussed and methods of conservation management of the species are pointed

text: "Dealing with modern heritage in times of crisis is addressing the global
and local challenges that designers and planners and organizations like DOCOMOMO
International have to recognize and analyze on different levels. When moving its
headquarters back to TU Delft in 2022 the International Secretariat formulated
three main areas of action for the running\r\nprogrammatic period until 2025:
sustainability, digitalization and education. Those themes are inherently connected
to each other and are at the core of DOCOMOMO’s mission. But the organization
is also challenged by divergent global shifts between the Global North and South.
Documentation and conservation of modern heritage are understood not as luxurious\r\nintellectual
goods but as a direct contribution to sustainability within the scope of the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): saving resources, making cities
better and providing education are main contributions.\r\nThe current 79 national
working parties are dealing with different challenges and priorities related to
the documentation and conservation of modern heritage in each region that need
to be addressed differently. In a comparative approach the International Secretariat
is analyzing the strenghts, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of the national
working parties in order to draw conclusions for the future workprogram. It can
be noticed that the open access to many materials and research during the last
two decades has already made a difference and allows for a smoother knowledge
transfer, in particular among the younger generation. We also notice the diversity
in the composition of the national working parties, coming from academia, professional
or activists background. This diversity in expression and the local character
of each national working party guarantee for the development of individual and
suitable approaches. A priority on DOCOMOMO International’s agenda will be the
provision of further material, including the digitization of old documents and
the creation\r\nof new documents, webinars or online-courses related to historical,
technological or societal aspects of modern heritage and aiming at the improvement
of our built and lived environment. Of particular interest is to provide access
to affordable housing, food and water. "

interventions carried out in accordance with current regulations in the Old City
of Aleppo, both before and after the Syrian war, are minor in comparison to those
carried out without a license and illegally. This suggests current policies are
inadequate and needs upgrading.Design/methodology/approachThis
article critically reviews current Syrian policies and their implementation on
residential heritage in the Old City of Aleppo with the aim to identify gaps and
propose directions for modifications. Next to a review of the text of official
policies and implementation documents, the archive of the Directorate of the Old
City has been consulted and license applications, presented in the period 2018–2022,
have been examined. Moreover, interviews with decision-makers from academics and
practice were conducted.FindingsMajor
limitations of these policies and relative application procedures have been identified:
these involve: legal/administrative, economic and social aspects.Originality/valueThe specific
needs have been highlighted and some proposals for improvement made.'

text: The four Futuro case studies (Futuro No. 000, Corfu-Futuro, Donaldson-Futuro,
Munich-Futuro) presented in this journal document conservation approaches to plastic
buildings and elements – in this case, glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) sandwich
panels. They contribute to the definition of general conservation approaches,
and at the same time reveal the knowledge gaps related to their individual histories
and the necessity of a framework for managing interventions that are suited to
GRP sandwich panels. The history and physical fabric of the selected Futuros,
and the interventions done are compared in this article. The comparative analysis
demonstrates how important it is to integrate a framework for adequate research
and documentation into the conservation processes, in order to understand each
building’s significance and plan the interventions accordingly. The arguments
deduced from the analyses demonstrate which factors differentiate the conservation
solutions of the case studies in order to reframe the Futuros’ expected life-span
into a managed life-cycle.

Heimische Orchideen Deutschlands (AHOs) zur Orchidee des Jahres 2021 gewählt wurde,
wird vorgestellt. Namensgebung, morphologische Merkmale und Lebenszyklus sowie
Ökologie und Lebensräume werden charakterisiert. Das Areal der Art wird beschrieben
und die Verbreitung für Deutschland kartographisch dargestellt. Gefährdungsursachen
werden erörtert und Schutzmaßnahmen aufgezeigt. Abschließend werden signifikante
Konsequenzen des Klimawandels für die Art diskutiert und in Beispielen dargelegt.

text: "In this paper, concepts for an extended DC network for the main power
supply of components from various manufacturers in industrial production are presented.
In the first part, detailed requirements for such a network are given
\ from the viewpoint of a customer. Based on those, different concepts
for AC/DC conversion and energy management are discussed. As far as AC/DC conversion
\ is concerned, the advantages and drawbacks of several rectifier topologies
are listed, as they have a significant impact on the system behavior and
\ EMC properties. \r\nAn intelligent energy management can improve the
\ energy efficiency and reduce downtimes of a plant, which are major
requirements from a customer’s viewpoint. "
