text: 'This paper introduces an approach that leverages large language models (LLMs)
to convert detailed descriptions of an Operational Design Domain (ODD) into realistic,
executable simulation scenarios for testing autonomous vehicles. The method combines
model-based and data-driven techniques to decompose ODDs into three key components:
environmental, scenery, and dynamic elements. It then applies prompt engineering
to generate ScenarioRunner scripts compatible with CARLA. The model-based component
guides the LLM using structured prompts and a “Tree of Thoughts” strategy to outline
the scenario, while a data-driven refinement process, drawing inspiration from
red teaming, enhances the accuracy and robustness of the generated scripts over
time. Experimental results show that while static components, such as weather
and road layouts, are well captured, dynamic elements like vehicle and pedestrian
behavior require further refinement. Overall, this approach not only reduces the
manual effort involved in creating simulation scenarios but also identifies key
challenges and opportunities for advancing safer and more adaptive autonomous
    driving systems.'

text: The proliferation of misinformation is one of the most pressing challenges
in today’s digital landscape, due to its far-reaching implications for public
health, economic stability, trust in governmental institutions, and societal cohesion.
Despite efforts to regulate online platforms and limit the spread of misinformation,
many individuals are left behind because of their low digital literacy, level
of education, and other contributing factors. In this context, we explore the
use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to identify misinformation and we evaluate
the capabilities of GPT-4.1-mini, as a representative example of these models.
We then discuss how LLMs can help empower users to critically create and share
information, thereby fostering more resilient online communities. We also present
a set of possible interaction patterns for content creation and moderation.

text: Interactive stories can be an effective approach for teaching purposes. One
shortcoming is the effort necessary to author and create these stories, especially
complex storylines with choices for the readers. Based on recent advances in Natural
Language Processing (NLP), new opportunities arise for assistance systems in the
context of interactive stories. In our work, we present an authoring approach
and prototypical tool for the creation of visual comic-strip like interactive
stories, a type of hypercomics, that integrate an Artificial Intelligence (AI)
assistance. Such comics are already used in our Gekonnt hanDeln web platform.
The AI assistance provides suggestions for the overall story outline as well as
how to design and write individual story frames. We provide a detailed description
about the approach and its prototypical implementation. Furthermore, we present
a study evaluating the prototype with student groups and how the prototype evolved
in an iterative style based on the students’ feedback.

text: 'Net ecosystem production (NEP) is an important indicator of lake ecosystem
function and integrity. An earlier study, restricted to one geographical region,
indicated that oxygen saturation levels (DO%) might be used to predict daily NEP
in shallow lakes. To test the generality of the method, we used DO% data collected
in a standardised pan-European mesocosm experiment with contrasting trophic states
and water levels covering a large climate gradient (from Sweden to Turkey). We
corroborated these data with process-based DO simulations. The NEP ~ DO% relation
depended on factors influencing gas transfer: water depth and wind. The NEP ~ DO%
relation per volume became weaker with increasing depth (1–2 m) but was independent
of depth when area based. Simulations indicated that the marginalisation of the
depth was sensitive to wind conditions. Trophic status, temperature and light
showed no or only marginal (climate zone) effects (experimental data), while the
simulations indicated influence of those factors under particular wind–depth conditions.
We confirmed that when considering also wind and depth effects, midday DO% potentially
provides reliable estimates of daily NEP. Therefore, historical monitoring data
of DO% might be used to estimate NEP, and process-based oxygen models may be valuable
tool therein. We encourage further tests.'

text: For process monitoring, an adequate data preprocessing is crucial to link
accessible inline process data with offline measured target variables. Literature,
however, does not provide systematic preprocessing strategies. The effects of
five different preprocessing strategies on data from a Dielectric Spectroscopy
system applied to the Viable Cell Density (VCD) of a mammalian cell cultivation
were thus evaluated. Single-frequency measurements are typically used to model
the VCD over the growth phase using linear regression or the Cole-Cole model and
served as a reference. As multi-frequency measurement is promising to model the
VCD beyond the growth phase using Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR), we
further aimed to determine, whether replacing linear regression by PLSR shows
comparable modeling performance. All five preprocessing strategies led to comparable
results. Exemplary, when using capacitance values at a frequency of 3347 kHz,
linear regression resulted in a R2 of 0.90 and a standard deviation of 0.4 % on
average. Both normalization techniques had the same positive effect on the results
of PLSR. The order of smoothing and normalization was irrelevant for both regression
methods. Comparing the results of linear regression and PLSR, the latter obtained
on average 9 % better results. Therefore, we concluded that PLSR is preferable
over linear regression and is potentially suitable to model the VCD beyond the
growth phase, which is suggested to be investigated based on more data sets.

text: The article presents the potentials and capacities of extracurricular activities
such as student workshops for strengthening existing curricula and introducing
emerging specialised areas, topics, and challenges into architectural higher education.
The specific objective of this study is to enhance and test different pedagogical
models for learning on the sustainable rehabilitation of mass housing neighbourhoods
(MHN), as a specific type of modern heritage, through innovative extracurricular
teaching practices based on interdisciplinarity, flexibility, and adaptability.
This research presents three student workshops focusing on the rehabilitation
of mass housing neighbourhoods (MHN), involving students, academics, and professionals
from the field, organised in Germany, Serbia, and North Macedonia in 2022. Moreover,
it engages a comparative analysis of the learning formats and approaches developed
within this discipline-specific cross-border collaboration. The study provides
    (1) an insight into the comparative analysis of learning capabilities and (2)
the formulation of workshop models supported by diagramming of the workshop structure.
The conclusion of the article summarises the findings and highlights the essential
aspects for engaging student workshops, as an instrument for generating operational
knowledge in the field of mass housing rehabilitation.

text: n order to ensure the safety and security of industrial systems with regard
to all life cycle phases from development through operation to disposal, specific
regulatory and normative requirements are imposed. Due to the digitalization,
interconnection, and constantly increasing complexity of manufacturing systems
in the context of Industrie 4.0, the manual effort necessary to achieve the required
safety and security is becoming ever greater and almost impossible to manage,
especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, this paper examines
the existing challenges in this area in more detail and gives an outlook on the
possible solutions to ensure safety and security much quicker and with less manual
effort. The overall vision is a (partially) automated risk assessment of modular
systems with respect to safety and security, including the alignment of the corresponding
processes from both domains and the formalization of the information models needed.

text: 'One goal in Bayesian machine learning is to encode prior knowledge into prior
distributions, to model data efficiently. We consider prior knowledge from systems
of linear partial differential equations together with their boundary conditions.
We construct multi-output Gaussian process priors with realizations in the solution
set of such systems, in particular only such solutions can be represented by Gaussian
process regression. The construction is fully algorithmic via Grobner bases and
it does not employ any approximation. It builds these priors combining two parametrizations
via a pullback: the first parametrizes the solutions for the system of differential
equations and the second parametrizes all functions adhering to the boundary conditions.'

text: Towards renewable energy systems, the coupling of multiple sectors is important
and incorporates novel technologies where currently no models exist that correctly
represent all transient effects. Therefore, we present a method that incorporates
Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations where virtual components as models are coupled
to real and experimental facilities in real time. By including experimental components,
a higher validity can be obtained and the practical applicability of renewable
energy scenario can be discussed more profoundly. In this paper, the considered
energy system consists of an experimental biocatalytic methanation reactor, a
real photovoltaic park, a regenerative fuel cell and short-term storage units
to supply a residential district. A representative control sequence of the methanator
is obtained by modeling the scenario as an optimal control problem. A first HIL
simulation highlights that modifications of the instrumentation are required for
a grid injection of the generated methane. The scientific approach can be applied
to any energy system where some of the considered components are available as
experimental or real facilities. Non-exisiting components are simply replaced
by models. The presented approach helps to determine which parts or process parameters
are crucial for the planed operation before the overall energy system is realized
on a larger scale. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

text: The mechanical engineering and related industries are increasingly being dominated
by information and communication technology, leading to the development of cyber-physical
systems. However, these systems have to be seen from a broader angle, incorporating
several other environmental factors such as the organizational structure or human
factors. For this reason, the technology cannot be seen as solitary system, but
should rather be included in the context of a scenario of work 4.0. These scenarios
can help to classify new technologies, their advantages and constraints in order
to provide guidance for the digital development of organizations. While several
frameworks have been proposed in terms of technological guidance, most of them
focus heavily on technology, neglecting their organizational- and human factors.
In order to form a uniform understanding of the construct of industry 4.0, we
developed an instrument for rating scenarios of work 4.0 on the relevant dimensions
'technology', 'human' and 'organization'. This paper describes the chosen relevant
criteria including possible constraints we encountered. Future work on this topic
will include the creation of profiles of scenarios of work 4.0, further validation
    of the criteria.

text: In ever changing world, the industrial systems become more and more complex.
Machine feedback in the form of alarms and notifications, due to its growing volume,
becomes overwhelming for the operator. In addition, expectations in relation to
system availability are growing as well. Therefore, there exists strong need for
new solutions guaranteeing fast troubleshooting of problems that arise during
system operation. The approach proposed in this study uses advantages of the Asset
Administration Shell, machine learning, and human-machine interaction in order
to create the assistance system which holistically addresses the issue of troubleshooting
    complex industrial systems.

text: This paper illustrates why existing technology acceptance models are only
of limited use for predicting and explaining the adoption of future information
and communication technologies. It starts with a general overview over technology
adoption processes, and presents several theories for the acceptance as well as
adoption of traditional information technologies. This is followed by an overview
over the recent developments in the area of information and communication technologies.
Based on the arguments elaborated in these sections, it is shown why the factors
used to predict adoption in existing systems, will not be sufficient for explaining
the adoption of future information and communication technologies.
