  abstract     = {{The Toothed Orchid,  Neotinea  tridentata, has been elected for Orchid of the Year 2019 by the steering committees of the German Native  Orchids  Associations  (Arbeitskreise Heimische Orchideen Deutschlands, AHO) Etymology, characteristics and life cycle as well as ecology and habitat of the species are specified. The range of the species is described and a distribution map is presented for Germany. Threats are discussed and methods of conservation management of the species are pointed out.
