  abstract     = {{Das Projekt SEC_PRO verfolgte die Möglichkeit der Erarbeitung einer neuartigen IT-Sicherheitslösung für Automatisierungssysteme. Die Ermittlung des Stands der Technik zeigte, dass die IT-Sicherheit in der Automatisierungstechnik von Lösungen der Standard-IT in Büronetzwerken geprägt ist, ohne auf spezielle Anforderungen der Automatisierungstechnik einzugehen. Eine Anforderungsanalyse erbrachte, dass IT-Sicherheitslösungen benötigt werden, die sich mit dem zunehmenden Vernetzungsgrad von Automatisierungssystemen in Einklang bringen lassen. Dazu ist eine IT-Sicherheitsschicht für das PROFINET-Protokoll konzipiert und implementiert worden, die einen integrierten Schutz der Kommunikation und der Komponenten selbst ermöglicht. Dabei kommen gezielt Security Token Technologien zum Einsatz. Eine Evaluierung der kryptografischen Funktionen zeigte, dass deren Verwendung unter gewissen Voraussetzungen möglich ist. Mit Hilfe eines Demonstrators ist konnte die Echtzeitfähigkeit der IT-Sicherheitsschicht validiert und dessen Schutzwirkung nachgewiesen werden. SEC_PRO kann als Ausgangspunkt für weitere Vorhaben bezüglich integrierter IT-Sicherheitsmaßnahmen gesehen werden, die auf eine Anwendung der Kryptografie in der Automatisierungstechnik abzielen.}},

Also, the situation in the furniture Industry is compared to that of the automotive and the Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry in order to see if some of the successful supply chain strategies in these industries can be transferred. Key findings are that supply chain measures are often underestimated, both on the retail and on the manufacturer side. The furniture industry is found to lack standards in IT, processes and handling equipment.   abstract     = {{ The current carrying capacity, which is determined by the electrical-thermal behaviour, is one of the main features of an electrical contact system. The purpose of this study is to develop an analytical model which describes the electricalthermal behaviour of electrical contact systems. Established mechanical, electrical, thermal and contact physical relations are combined to design the analytical model. Differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions are used to solve the heating problem. The various parts of an electrical connector represent separate subsystems. The geometry, the material properties and the heat transfer coefficients for the contact system, the terminal clamp and the wire have been taken into account. These different subsystems have been connected to obtain the overall temperature distribution. In order to verify the analytical model, contact systems made of three copper alloys with different electrical and thermal properties are investigated experimentally at various current loads. It was shown that the analytical model can predict the temperature rise for simple geometry well. Using the analytical model several parameters can be easily changed. Moreover, the main influencing factors and their relationships can be identified directly on the equations.   abstract     = {{The electrical-thermal behavior of an electrical connector is determined by heat generation due to Joule heating and heat absorption by conduction, convection and radiation. Heat flow from the connector to the wire is an important heat absorption mechanism for most electrical connectors. The temperature difference between the connector and the wire at infinity is proportional to the axial heat flow induced into the wire. The purpose of this study is to dimension the electrical resistance of a connector for power distribution by the heat flow into the wire. The heat flow is used as a design factor in order to define the maximum power loss for wires with different cross-section areas. With this approach the maximum acceptable electrical resistance for connectors with different sizes can be estimated in the early stages of the design process.}},

  abstract     = {{In diesem Beitrag wird die Konstruktion einer IEC62578 ed. 2 konformen Netznachbildung für die Messung der leitungsgeführten Störaussendung von Active Infeed Convertern zwischen 2 und 9 kHz beschrieben. Die Auswirkungen durch Streuung von Bauteilwerten konnte durch Simulationen als unkritisch beurteilt werden. Durch gezielte Anpassung von Parametern konnte die Entkopplung von der lokalen Netzimpedanz verbessert und der zu betrachtende Frequenzbereich an die geforderten Grenzen angepasst werden. Nach der Montage der Netznachbildung belegten Messungen am realen Netz die Funktion. Um Erfahrung mit der Netznachbildung zu gewinnen, sollen im Lauf des Jahres 2014 in Kooperation mit Industriefirmen verschiedene AIC vermessen werden, um weitere Erfahrung zu gewinnen.}},

These are physical processing systems equipped with sensory devices which interconnect over communication networks for distributed cognitive information processing applications. Cyber-physical systems are generally limited in computational resources. Due to this fact, signal processing algorithms cannot be implemented one-to-one. Instead, efforts must be spent in algorithm optimisation towards resource efficiency and reduced computational complexity. In this contribution, we present our optimisation approach by matrix decomposition of an evidence-based conflict-reducing fusion approach which after optimisation is applicable in resource-limited devices for cognitive signal processing. We evaluate the results by comparison with the algorithm's original definition and show the improvements achieved. }},

Hazardous material stores function as a store for dangerous chemicals. We use fire simulations to simulate a fire and use the results of this simulation in our condition monitoring system in order to show the attainable gains. The used condition monitoring system utilises multiple sensors which are distributed inside and outside of the hazardous material store. The values of the sensors are combined over multiple levels into one state for the complete system. This allows us to significantly enhance the detection time of dangerous operating states, compared to the use of dedicated single sensors.}},

Despite simple construction, the approach is able to connect advantages of dimensionality reduction methods and such like combining multiple classifiers resp. Bag-of-classifiers-approaches and leads to a good generalisation ability even by use of small feature sets. Regarding generalisation ability, we benchmark the performance of ComRef on several datasets from the UCI repository. Furthermore, for an industrial dataset Motor Drive Diagnosis we show the advantage of ComRef which uses Support-Vector-Machines (SVM). In this application scenario, a trustful classifier is essential, since a small number of mis-classifications could lead to motor damages.}},

Interdisziplinäre Ansätze aus Technik, Biologie und Psychologie ermöglichen neue zukunftsweisende Lösungen. Durch den vermehrten Einsatz von Bildverarbeitung ergeben sich neue Möglichkeiten in rasanter Geschwindigkeit, gleichzeitig aber auch neue zu lösende Herausforderungen. Insbesondere in Bezug auf Industrie-4.0-Aspekte steht die industrielle Bildverarbeitung als Schlüsseltechnologie vor neuen Herausforderungen, die in den nächsten Jahren zu bewältigen sind. Dazu gehören unter anderem: kostengünstige Systeme, die massentauglich sind; schnelle Adaptierbarbeit in beliebige Systeme; intelligente Kameras, die leistungsfähig sind, usw.Die beiden Forschungseinrichtungen GET Lab – Technische kognitive Systeme der Universität Paderborn und inIT – Institut für industrielle Informationstechnik der Hochschule OWL widmen diesem wichtigen Fachgebiet das seit 2010 stattfindende Jahreskolloquium „Bildverarbeitung in der Automation (BVAu)“ im Rahmen der Initiative Industrielle Bildverarbeitung OWL.Die Veranstaltungsreihe, die wechselnd in Lemgo und Paderborn stattfindet, weist einen klaren aktuellen fachlichen Fokus und eine entsprechende Detailtiefe auf. Hierzu vermitteln sieben Fachbeiträge und zwei Keynotes aus Industrie und Wissenschaft einen guten Überblick zum momentanen Stand der Technik und zu aktuellen Innovationen in den Bereichen Technical Aspects of Vision Systems, Practical Image Processing und Algorithmic Approaches to Image Processing.Wir möchten uns an dieser Stelle bei allen Autoren und Koautoren für ihre qualitativ hochwertigen Beiträge bedanken.   abstract     = {{The networking of production processes by means of information technologies (IT) has become a major field of development within industry and research. The main target is to interlink autonomous production systems to an intelligent production line, where products itself organise and control their manufacturing. This new attempt in production is -actual in Germany described under the definition "Industry 4.0", the fourth industrial revolution. Basically, the essential hardware and software to meet this objectives has been developed in other branches and is able to upgrade machines and handling systems to cyber-physical systems. The crucial issue to design an autonomous, intelligent production line is to generate the exact process data for each production step, to verify this data and to transfer it into the individual machine control. The characteristics of this main problem increases with the degree of interactions between the processes in the production line. In the woodworking industry, the process chain of profiling has a high degree of interactions. The individual production steps are strictly based on another and the result of a process effects the subsequent one respectively. To network these processes and add IT, an integrated IT system with individual CAD/CAM system for each process type is needed. The estimation of the interactions is done by the simulation of the whole process chain in a virtual reality before the real production. This enables to verify the process data, and to benefit from simultaneous engineering. Besides the essential algorithms to calculate the process data for the different process types and estimate the geometry corruptions due to systematic errors and manufacturing tolerances, the consideration of the material behaviour during the production is the determining factor to get valid data for the process chain. The shrinking and swelling of wood and woodbased materials due to a change of moisture content causes a geometry corruption and requires algorithms to simulate this behaviour in the virtual real ity. The result of these algorithms for the processes and the material behaviour are the exact process data for a specific profile. The database for the calculations and the data storage is a developed product data model. This product data model forms the gateway for the simulation in the virtual reality to the machine controls.}},

  abstract     = {{Time and resources are already an important issue in wooden industry and handicraft tl1at will become more and more important the next years. Components for furniture production, particularly in the industrial sector, are usually manufactured in automated process chains. State- of-the-art for drilling is the usage of systems with bevels, belt drives, angle gears and rigid drilling units. Due to the operating direction and slow working cycles, drilling processes are the bottleneck of production. These rigid drilling gears are currently very intensive in maintenance and inflexible because their spindles are usually mechanically coupled , which leads to unnecessary and excessive energy consumption. Another problem with systems currently in use is the huge amount of setup costs. They are required to adjust drilling units on different components. This leads to an impairment of productivity of the entire manufacturing process. At this point the question arises how quality and efficiency of the drilling process can be increased. lt is obvious that the drilling process must be made more intelligent and more flexible. An approach for an optimized drilling process is the use of self-optimizing spindles in future. Therefore a detailed analysis of drilling processes and the development of an eligible feed control are required. According to these requirements a laboratory machine was developed and furthermore the theoretical and practical state-of-the-art of drilling processes were analyzed. For the evaluation of this multifactorial property currently no standard methodical procedure is defined. Present some measurement as well as sensory evaluations are used for the quality assessment of high gloss surfaces. Regarding to Six Sigma, for proper customer satisfaction the voice of the customer needs to be transferred into specific product criteria which are measurable. Associated to the research project "Development of a global quality concept for furniture high gloss surfaces" at the University of Applied Science Ostwestfalen-Lippe possible customers were asked to rank some high gloss samples according to their quality perception. In addition these high gloss surfaces were gauged by common measurements. Building up the basis for a comprehensive quality scale by the analysis of correlations between the measured values and the quality impression of the customers is the subject matter. The waviness of a high gloss surface seems to be an appropriate indicator for perceive quality. For end users brilliance an even surface and the absence of errors are attributes of an upmarket high gloss surface. Whatever the suface is not the tangible criterion for the purchase decision of furniture in general, design, production quality and price, which are directly affected by surface properties, are more clinches.}},

Power converters are used in hybrid electric vehicles but also in other vehicle applications like  electric  steering  systems  for  example.  For  testing  electronic  equipment,  hardware-in-the-loop simulation is a today’s standard method in the automotive industry. Hardware-in-the-loop simulation requires a real-time capable model of the plant but the development of those models of power electronic circuits is still an ambitious task due to the switching of the semiconductors devices. Real-time simulation usually requires  a  fixed  step-size  which  does  not  allow  classic  zero  crossing  detection  algorithms. Depending on the chosen real-time platform, the minimum possible step-size of the real-time simulation is limited and requires special algorithms for an appropri-ate and precise simulation of these high dynamic systems.  In this contribution, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation of a rectifier with power factor correction will be presented. First a short outline on modelling methods for real-time simulation of power electronics is given and an approach for determining the model as well as the necessary assumptions and simplifications are described. Finally, the hardware-in-the-loop bench is described and measurement results from the real plant and the simulation results are compared.}},

However, optimizing the control and structure of these systems is rather complex. A method for analyzing and planning of such systems is an adapted variant of the so called Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation. This approach comprises virtual energy components as models combined with data from experimental components. As a virtual energy component, a simulation model describing the physical behavior of CHP units is proposed in this contribution. The modeling approach is based on a time domain approach using state variables of the multiple domains to describe the dynamic behavior. For instance, the first law of thermodynamics is applied to model the thermal quantities. Furthermore, the model is scalable regarding the modeling depth and the power ratings which allows an application for different simulation scenarios. Finally, the overall model is parameterized and validated with data of a medium sized CHP plant.}},

Simulation models should represent the plant in a way so that the correct process execution can be tested under customers’ conditions. Simulation models of a plant are usually not built monolithically, but by many partial simulation models that represent the modules or components of the investigated plant. To ensure that the VC is efficient and provides helpful results, these partial simulation models can be implemented at different levels of detail, depending on the current test scenario. Usually, the definition of the modules’ and components’ level of detail is fixed. However, situations exist where more than one level of detail can be adequate. A dynamically adaptable level of detail seems beneficial to e. g. keep computing time at a reasonable level and to ensure meaningful results of the plants simulation model. However, no method or approach exists so far to handle a dynamically adaptable level of detail. This paper discusses potentials and challenges of a dynamically adaptable level of detail and shows possible solution contributions that could yield benefits for a VC approach.}},

Jedoch ist der für eine VIBN zwingend notwendige Modellbildungsprozess oftmals mit hohen Aufwänden verbunden, die das Einsparpotential einer VIBN oftmals übertreffen und dem Nutzen einer Simulation insgesamt entgegenstehen. Eine mögliche Lösung könnte die automatische Simulationsmodellgenerierung fertigungstechnischer Anlagen sein. Der vorliegende Beitrag zeigt, wie aus Anlagenstrukturdaten, dargestellt im objektorientiert aufgebauten Datenaustauschformat AutomationML, Simulationsmodelle fertigungstechnischer Anlagen in der objektorientierten Modellierungssprache Modelica automatisch generiert werden können. Das generierte Modell läuft anschließend auf einer auf einem Standard-PC basierenden Hardware-in-the-Loop-Plattform und wird mit der mit der realen Steuerung verbunden, so dass diese virtuell in Betrieb genommen werden kann. Beispielhaft wird die VIBN einer unstetigen Fördertechniklösung als typisches Beispiel einer fertigungstechnischen Anlage gezeigt.}},

  abstract     = {{Drawing from construal level theory, we test the hypothesis that words promote thinking of events in terms of their abstract and central features (i.e., high-level construal), whereas pictures promote thinking in terms of more concrete and idiosyncratic features (i.e., low-level construal). In Experiments 1a and 1b, we found that verbal (vs. pictorial) presentation of objects led to broader, more inclusive categorization of those objects. In Experiment 2, we found that word (vs. picture) priming led to greater global (vs. local) processing of subsequent perceptual information. Finally, in Experiments 3 and 4, we tested the opposite direction of causality. Thinking about high-level “why” versus relatively low-level “how” (Experiment 3) and thinking about high-level categories versus relatively low-level exemplars (Experiment 4) led to more verbal versus pictorial thought. These findings provide converging evidence that medium (word, picture) is associated with level of construal. }},

  abstract     = {{Attitudes are a core construct of social psychology, and research showed that attitudes can be acquired by merely pairing neutral stimuli with other liked or disliked stimuli (i.e., evaluative conditioning, EC). In this research we address the role of different memory processes contributing to EC. Although it is commonly found that memory for the pairings increases EC, we argue that memory performance data obtained in the standard paradigm remain ambiguous. We hypothesize that memory for stimulus pairings may moderate EC by means of an intentional use of conscious recollection as well as through unintended effects of memory. In two experiments we used modified memory tests that distinguish between these different memory processes on an item-level by identifying recollection as the participant's ability to control memory performance. The analyses of the experiments showed that both intended and unintended influences independently moderate EC. Based on these results we discuss the role of different memory processes in EC, and how memory and learning processes may be related.}},

  abstract     = {{Façade plays an important role in modern movement architecture and a critical role in the conception of energy and climate-optimized buildings: it is the building's skin and functions as an interface between interior and exterior space. It provides thermal and sound insulation and ventilation, and controls and guides the entrance of daylight into the building. Tropical climates have unique challenges to reduce solar heat gain through building envelope to make buildings energy efficient. India has a rich tradition of different forms of architecture and design principles - most of them are perfectly adapted to the climatic requirements and constructed with local building materials and technology. In the twentieth century, Modern Movement Architecture shows a global trend towards transparent, light-flled buildings with great expanses of windows and façades with advanced building technology. However, the twentieth century modern movement architecture in India evolved in response to the climate and culture. In India, remarkably diverse constellations of façade design can be traced in modern architecture often taking into consideration traditional Indian principles combining them with new materials and constructions. Most of them marked by overhanging balconies and horizontal brise-soleils and as an example of a human scaled urban infrastructure offering private and public green spaces in transition. After independence in 1947 more public, administrative and governmental buildings followed in the tradition of the modern movement and with emblematic character. This paper presents a review of the influences of modern movement architecture on today's facade design in tropical climate of India. The purpose of this review is to reappraise works of the masters of the modern movement, in the context of today's energy and environmental value system; a value system which justifies a greater capital cost in money terms with a view to minimize recurrent costs in energy terms and environmental degradation.}},

  abstract     = {{In lakes, trophic change and climate change shift the relationship between nutrients and physical factors, like temperature and photoperiod, and interactions between these factors should affect the growth of phytoplankton species differently. We therefore determined the relationship between P-limited specific growth rates and P-quota (biovolume basis) of Stephanodiscus minutulus and Nitzschia acicularis (diatoms) at or near light saturation in axenic, semi-continuous culture at 10, 15 and 20 °C and at 6, 9 and 12 h d−1 photoperiod. Photoperiod treatments were performed at constant daily light exposure to allow comparison. Under these conditions, we also performed competition experiments and estimated relative P-uptake rates of the species. Temperature strongly affected P-limited growth rates and relative P uptake rates, whereas photoperiod only affected maximum growth rates. S. minutulus used internal P more efficiently than N. acicularis. N. acicularis was the superior competitor for P due to a higher relative uptake rate and its superiority increased with increasing temperature and photoperiod. S. minutulus conformed to the Droop relationship but N. acicularis did not. A model with a temperature-dependent normalised half-saturation coefficient adequately described the factor interactions of both species. The temperature dependence of the quota model reflected each species’ specific adaptation to its ecological niche. The results demonstrate that increases in temperature or photoperiod can partially compensate for a decrease in P-quota under moderately limiting conditions, like during spring in temperate lakes. Thus warming may counteract de-eutrophication to some degree and a relative shift in growth factors can influence the phytoplankton species composition.}},

  abstract     = {{Physiological consequences of adaptation to and continued feeding of a high-energetic diet were studied in eight non-pregnant, non-lactating dairy Holstein cows over a period of 16 weeks. The first six weeks served as an adaptation period from the low energetic straw-based diet (3.8 MJ NEL/kg DM) to the high-energetic ration (7.5 MJ NEL/kg DM). Intake of dry matter (DM) increased with dietary energy concentration from 9 to 20 kg/d up to week 9 to 12 and decreased thereafter. The initial live weight (LW) of 550 ± 60 kg was increased linearly and corresponded to an average daily LW gain of 2.3 ± 0.3 kg. Energy balance increased approximately nine-fold to a maximum of 114 MJ NEL/d in week 10. Ruminal fermentation pattern was completely changed from an acetate dominating profile to a propionate based one, which was paralleled by a marked increase in the rumen fluid endotoxin concentration. Unlike blood glucose concentration, which increased continuously, that of cholesterol and triglycerides started to increase after an initial stagnation. In conclusion, both ruminal adaptation to a high-energetic diet and the continued feeding of such a diet induced digestive and metabolic adaptations in non-pregnant, non-lactating cows characterised by a progressing positive energy balance.}},

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare hereditary disorder characterized by late onset and progressive calcification of elastic fibers in skin, eyes and the cardiovascular system, exemplifying a model for conditions characterized by soft tissue calcification.
Objective
The aim of our study was to characterize cellular inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) homeostasis in PXE.
Methods
Gene expression of PPi metabolizing enzymes was determined by quantitative real-time PCR after incubation up to 21 days with or without addition of Na2HPO4. Extracellular and cytosolic PPi concentrations were measured by enzyme-linked bioluminescence assay. ALP and ENPP1 activity was determined spectrophotometrically. We further established a human cell culture model suitable for investigating PXE and related disorders without addition of artificial calcification triggers.
Results
Independently of the experimental conditions, PXE fibroblasts revealed a higher degree of matrix calcification. We observed that matrix calcification was associated with altered gene expression of PPi metabolizing enzymes in PXE fibroblasts. In this context, PXE fibroblasts exhibited significantly higher expression of ALP and OPN and reduced mRNA expression and activity of ENPP1. Here, for the first time cytosolic and extracellular PPi levels were shown to be strongly reduced in PXE fibroblasts. We further showed that PPi concentration in bovine and human sera additives had a strong impact on matrix calcification. In a last experimental line, we demonstrated that addition of PPi analogs reduced matrix calcification of PXE fibroblasts most likely by reducing ALP and OPN mRNA expression, restoring ENPP1 activity and subsequently elevating PPi concentrations.
Conclusion
The results of our study along with recent findings point to the essential role of PPi as the central regulatory metabolites preventing matrix calcification in PXE. But what remains to be determined is the underlying molecular mechanism leading to depletion of PPi in PXE. We further suggest that supplementation of PPi analogs might counteract pathological calcification in PXE and related disorders.}},

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare hereditary disorder characterized by progressive calcification and fragmentation of elastic fibers. Because of the great clinical variability between PXE patients the involvement of modifier genes was recently suggested. Therefore, we investigated the association of single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in selected candidate genes known to regulate cellular pyrophosphate metabolism.
Design and methods
We used RLFP analyses to evaluate the distribution of SNVs in alkaline phosphatase (ALP), ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase 1 (ENPP1) and ankylosis (ANKH) in DNA samples from 190 German PXE patients and 190 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Statistical analyses were performed using Fisher exact test and Bonferroni correction.
Results
The screening revealed three different SNVs in three genes, which were associated with PXE. The SNV c.1190-65C > A (rs1780329, minor allele frequency (MAF) patients: 0.17; controls: 0.11; P = 0.04) in the ALP gene was significantly more frequent in PXE patients. Furthermore, PXE was highly associated with ANKH p.A98A genotype TT (P = 0.0012), although the MAF was not different between patients and controls. After correction for multiple testing according to the Bonferroni method, one SNV in the ENPP1 gene (c.313 + 9G > T, rs7773477) remained significantly associated with PXE with significantly higher MAF values in the patient cohort (MAF: 0.04 vs. 0.00; P = 0.0024) and a high association with PXE susceptibility (OR 27.96).
Conclusion
Polymorphisms in ALP, ENPP1 and ANKH are important genetic risk factors contributing to PXE.}},

Dysregulations in cholesterol and lipid metabolism have been linked to human diseases like hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis or the metabolic syndrome. Many ABC transporters are involved in trafficking of metabolites derived from these pathways. Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), an autosomal-recessive disease caused by ABCC6 mutations, is characterized by atherogenesis and soft tissue calcification.
Methods
In this study we investigated the regulation of cholesterol biosynthesis in human dermal fibroblasts from PXE patients and healthy controls.
Results
Gene expression analysis of 84 targets indicated dysregulations in cholesterol metabolism in PXE fibroblasts. Transcript levels of ABCC6 were strongly increased in lipoprotein-deficient serum (LPDS) and under serum starvation in healthy controls. For the first time, increased HMG CoA reductase activities were found in PXE fibroblasts. We further observed strongly elevated transcript and protein levels for the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), as well as a significant reduction in APOE mRNA expression in PXE.
Conclusion
Increased cholesterol biosynthesis, elevated PCSK9 levels and reduced APOE mRNA expression newly found in PXE fibroblasts could enforce atherogenesis and cardiovascular risk in PXE patients. Moreover, the increase in ABCC6 expression accompanied by the induction of cholesterol biosynthesis supposes a functional role for ABCC6 in human lipoprotein and cholesterol homeostasis.}},

  abstract     = {{Mutations in the ABC transporter ABCC6 were recently identified as cause of Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), a rare genetic disorder characterized by progressive mineralization of elastic fibers. We used an untargeted metabolic approach to identify biochemical differences between human dermal fibroblasts from healthy controls and PXE patients in an attempt to find a link between ABCC6 deficiency, cellular metabolic alterations and disease pathogenesis. 358 compounds were identified by mass spectrometry covering lipids, amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates, nucleotides, vitamins and cofactors, xenobiotics and energy metabolites. We found substantial differences in glycerophospholipid composition, leucine dipeptides, and polypeptides as well as alterations in pantothenate and guanine metabolism to be significantly associated with PXE pathogenesis. These findings can be linked to extracellular matrix remodeling and increased oxidative stress, which reflect characteristic hallmarks of PXE. Our study could facilitate a better understanding of biochemical pathways involved in soft tissue mineralization.}},

  abstract     = {{Transducers based on dielectric electroactive polymers (DEAP) use electrostatic pressure to convert electric energy into strain energy or vice versa. Besides this, they are also designed for sensor applications in monitoring the actual stretch state on the basis of the deformation dependent capacitive-resistive behavior of the DEAP. In order to enable an efficient and proper closed loop control operation of these transducers, e.g. in positioning or energy harvesting applications, on the one hand, sensors based on DEAP material can be integrated into the transducers and evaluated externally, and on the other hand, the transducer itself can be used as a sensor, also in terms of self-sensing. For this purpose the characteristic electrical behavior of the transducer has to be evaluated in order to determine the mechanical state. Also, adequate online identification algorithms with sufficient accuracy and dynamics are required, independent from the sensor concept utilized, in order to determine the electrical DEAP parameters in real time. Therefore, in this contribution, algorithms are developed in the frequency domain for identifications of the capacitance as well as the electrode and polymer resistance of a DEAP, which are validated by measurements. These algorithms are designed for self-sensing applications, especially if the power electronics utilized is operated at a constant switching frequency, and parasitic harmonic oscillations are induced besides the desired DC value. These oscillations can be used for the online identification, so an additional superimposed excitation is no longer necessary. For this purpose a dual active bridge (DAB) is introduced to drive the DEAP transducer. The capabilities of the real-time identification algorithm in combination with the DAB are presented in detail and discussed, finally.}},
