In commercial laboratory mouse diets, different physical forms of the same diets are available, containing—according to their labels—identical ingredients and nutrient compositions. However, variations in nutrient composition and starch gelatinization due to production processes and their impact on digestibility have been described. In this study, a total of 48 C57BL/J6 mice were assigned to two equal groups and were fed diets (produced with different processes—extruded vs. pelleted) for eight weeks in two biological replicates. At the end of the experiment, samples were collected from five different gastrointestinal regions, including the stomach, small intestine, cecum, large intestine, and an extracorporeal region (feces), and the microbiome was analyzed with 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. The replicates in both experiments differed significantly in their relative abundances of Muribaculaceae species. Furthermore, the gastrointestinal content of pellet-fed mice contained larger numbers of Lactobacillus species. These results indicate that starch gelatinization and ingredient composition significantly influence microbial makeup. The prevalence of Leptospira spp. in humans, cattle and dogs is unknown in Bhutan. Therefore, we sought to find out whether humans, cattle or dogs had been infected in the past with leptospires by measuring antibodies in the serum. We therefore collected blood from 864 humans ≥13 years of age, 130 bovines and 84 dogs from different rural and urban areas in Bhutan and tested the serum for antibodies specific for leptospires with a screening of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and a confirmatory microscopic agglutination test (MAT). In humans, 17.6% were seropositive by ELISA and 1.6% by MAT. If produced or stored under adverse hygienic conditions, straw is prone to the growth of filamentous fungi. Since studies on mycotoxins in straw are scarce, 192 straw samples (wheat n = 80; barley n = 79; triticale n = 12; oat n = 11; rye n = 12) were collected across Germany within the German official feed surveillance and screened for the presence of 21 mycotoxins. Laboratory rodent diets are often marketed as identical, but are sold in different forms, regardless of the markedly higher starch gelatinization in extruded than in pelleted diets. Our hypothesis was that this would impact energy and nutrient digestibility in mice fed pellets or extrudate, respectively. Trial 1 showed that feeding C57BL/6 mice a standard maintenance diet in extruded form results in a significantly higher digestibility of organic matter, energy, and carbohydrates than the identical diet in pelleted form. The replication of the experiment, however, revealed a variation between batches of the same pelleted diet regarding starch and total dietary fiber contents. Given the significant differences in diet digestibility and the potential impacts of digestibility on nutrient utilization, the intestinal microbiome, and intermediary metabolism, trials performed with differently processed diets are not comparable. This might partly explain failures to reproduce results, especially in gastrointestinal or microbiome research. Considering this impact on experimental animals, the degree of starch gelatinization should be declared in the diet information for laboratory animal diets. Two chemotypes are defined according to their ability to produce either atranones or satratoxins. S. chartarum has been well known as the causative agent of the lethal disease stachybotryotoxicosis in horses. Further investigations revealed that this disease is strictly correlated with the presence of macrocyclic trichothecenes. Furthermore, their occurrence in water-damaged buildings has been linked to adverse health effects such as the sick building syndrome. As the chemotypes cannot be characterized via phenotypic criteria, different methods such as PCR, MALDI–TOF MS, LC–MS/MS, thin-layer chromatography and cytotoxicity assays have been used so far. Fourier-transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) is commonly used for the differentiation of bacteria and yeasts, but this technique is also applicable to filamentous fungi. Hence, this study aimed at evaluating to which extent a reliable differentiation of S. chartarum chemotypes A and S is possible. Besides, another objective was to verify if the recently introduced third genotype of S. chartarum can be identified. Therefore, 28 strains including the two chemotypes and the third genotype H were cultivated on malt extract agar (MEA) and potato dextrose agar in three biological replicates. Each sample was applied to FT-IR measurements on day 7, 14 and 21 of cultivation. Diseases such as stachybotryotoxicosis in animals and the sick building syndrome as a multifactorial disease complex in humans have been associated with this mold and its toxins. Less toxic non-chemotype S strains of S. chartarum are morphologically indistinguishable from chemotype S strains, which results in uncertainties in hazard characterization of isolates. To selectively identify macrocyclic trichothecene producing S. chartarum isolates, a set of sat14 gene-specific primers was designed and applied in a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay using neutral red for visual signal detection. The assay was highly specific for S. chartarum strains of the macrocyclic trichothecene producing chemotype and showed no cross-reaction with non-macrocyclic trichothecene producing S. chartarum strains or 152 strains of 131 other fungal species. The assay’s detection limit was 0.635 pg/rxn (picogram per reaction) with a reaction time of 60 min. Die EGA ist nicht kontagiös, so dass in der Regel innerhalb eines Bestandes nur einzelne Pferde betroffen sind. Der Schweregrad der Erkrankung ist vom Alter des Pferdes und der Dauer der Erkrankung abhängig. Zumeist tritt Apathie und Fieber auf. Jüngere Pferde (< 4 Jahre) entwickeln meist nur mildere klinische Veränderungen als ältere Pferde. In den meisten Fällen weist die EGA bei jungen Pferden und vor allem in Endemiegebieten,\r\neinen subklinischen oder milden Verlauf auf. Als Erregerreservoir dienen vor allem kleine wildlebende Säuger wie z.B. Nagetiere. Die Diagnose der EGA basiert auf der epizootischen Anamnese (jahreszeitlich und regional typisches Auftreten, vorhandene Zeckenexposition) sowie klinischen und labordiagnostischen Befunden. Der direkte Erregernachweis erfolgt durch Teilgensequenzierung, direkten mikroskopischen Nachweis oder Kultivierung. Auch indirekte Erregernachweisverfahren zur Diagnose der EGA in Form serologischer Laboruntersuchungen (Morulae bzw. Einschlusskörperchen) stehen zur Verfügung. Dabei kommen in der Regel ELISAs und Immunfluoreszenztests zum Einsatz. Ein Anstieg der Antikörperspiegel um das vierfache Niveau, lässt eine sichere Diagnose zu. Spezifische Antikörper gegen Ap können ab dem 14. Tag post infectionem und bis zu zwei Jahre später nachgewiesen werden. Die EGA kann effektiv mit Antibiotika behandelt werden. Dadurch wird die Erkrankungsdauer signifikant verkürzt und die Schwere der Erkrankung gemindert. Da Ap ein intrazelluläres Pathogen ist, sind Tetrazykline die Antibiotika der Wahl (Oxytetrazyklin intravenös in einer Dosis von 7 mg/kg Körpergewicht einmal täglich über 5–7 Tage). However, the evidence is inconsistent. This study aimed to comprehensively compare OB-BED patients against OB individuals without BED and healthy, normal-weight controls in general psychopathological features, eating-related phenotypes, and early life experiences. (2) Methods: OB-BED patients (n = 37), OB individuals (n = 50), and controls (n = 44) completed a battery of standardized questionnaires. Responses were analyzed using univariate comparisons and dimensionality reduction techniques (linear discriminant analysis, LDA). (3) Results: OB-BED patients showed the highest scores across assessments (e.g., depression, emotional and stress eating, food cravings, food addiction). OB-BED patients did not differ from OB individuals in terms of childhood traumatization or attachment styles. The LDA revealed a two-dimensional solution that distinguished controls from OB and OB-BED in terms of increasing problematic eating behaviors and attitudes, depression, and childhood adversities, as well as OB-BED from OB groups in terms of emotional eating tendencies and self-regulation impairments. Because altered patterns of evaluations can be linked to the emergence and maintenance of disordered cognitions and behaviors, it has been suggested that pairing procedures may provide a simple yet effective means of complementing more complex intervention approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Here, we summarize recent studies that explored the clinical potential of pairing procedures for improving self-esteem, body satisfaction, and food and consumption preferences. While no study has yet combined pairing procedures with CBT, there are several successful examples of pairing procedures in clinically relevant domains and clinical populations. However, the psychological processes linking negative mood to binge eating behavior have not been sufficiently explored. This study investigated the effects of experimentally inducing a negative (sad) mood state upon reaction times in a computerized ApproachAvoidance-Task (AAT) using images of foods and compared to a neutral control procedure in which negative mood was not induced. Differences in reaction times between "pulling" and "pushing away" food cues in the AAT were considered surrogates for fast, automatic (i.e., implicit) preferences ("bias") for either the approach or avoidance of foods. Obese patients with BED (n = 40), weight-matched (obese) individuals (n = 40), and normweight controls (n = 29) were asked to approach ("pull") or avoid ("push") images of high- and low-calorie foods following the induction of a negative mood state vs. the neutral control procedure. Sample size was within the common range of previous investigations of the kind. Similar to previous findings, obese patients with BED exhibited an avoidance bias (i.e., faster reaction times in "pushing" compared to "pulling") during the neutral control condition. However, a contrast analysis revealed that negative mood was associated with decreased avoidance bias in obese patients with BED, but not in obese and norm-weight controls. Mood status exerted no effect on BED patients' self-reported (i.e., explicit) ratings of the urge to consume foods. These findings may help to advance current understanding of how negative (sad) mood states may affect binge eating behaviors. Building on evaluative conditioning research, this study investigated how associating fruits and vegetables with positive, non-food stimuli influences preschool children's food choice and consumption. Consistent with this idea, it was found in two experiments that 3- to 6-year-old children's healthy food choice and consumption increased by pairing a healthy food's picture systematically with a positive, non-food image. Winemakers spotted an opportunity to engage and connect with their customers through virtual wine tastings. In virtual tastings wine enthusiasts can enjoy their favorite drinks and food pairing from the comfort and safety of their home. Facade acoustics deals with the interaction of sound and the building envelope, and specialists in the field use digital tools to perform calculations and predictive analysis required to fulfil project goals or meet construction regulations. This review aims to give an overview of the different commercial software tools that can be relevant in facade acoustics, pointing out their general information such as their developer, their type of software and license, and the categories within facade acoustics where these tools can be applied. The tools are classified in five categories: Environmental noise modelling, sound insulation, noise mapping, auralization and 3D geometry manipulation. Design tools for acoustics that cannot address any aspect of facades specifically are excluded. By outlining critical aspects in developing gamified systems, we adapted the modelling technique event storming in the context of a special case study where a gamified, collaborative platform was developed. For this purpose, the relationship of event storming and spatial hypertext has been worked out and an event storming extension has been introduced based on spatial hypertext principles. However, they could be reactivated for a bidirectional on-demand service traffic by small vehicles that use only one rail. MonoCabs are such small cabin-like vehicles, stabilized by a system of control moment gyroscopes and a moveable mass. They could make an important contribution to improve the mobility offer especially in rural areas. This paper is focused on the vertical stabilization system of the MonoCab. This system is discussed based on a physical three body model which describes the rolling motion of the vehicle, the lateral motion of the mass and the precession motion of the gyroscope. The model is utilized for a cascaded control concept adjusting the vehicle’s roll angle and gyroscope’s gimbal angle. The proposed stabilization concept is capable of compensating both high dynamic disturbances and stationary disturbances (e. g. unbalanced loads and steady wind flows). The concept is analyzed by simulations and experimental investigations utilizing a small scaled test rig and a rapid control prototyping system. An automated model generation can be utilized to overcome the gap between efforts and advantages of dynamic simulations.\r\n\r\nThis contribution presents an approach for simplifying the dynamic model generation of production machines by using the so-called Asset Administration Shell defined by the initiative Platform Industrie 4.0. The Asset Administration Shell was developed to aggregate all data necessary for maintaining the product across its life cycle. A nonlinear dynamic model is obtained using the Lagrangian method and subsequently linearized about its equilibrium point. Which is used for the design of the cascade control system. The dynamic analysis of the system is accomplished by comparing between analytically derived model in simulink environment and same structured model in simscape multibody. The proposed stabilization concept is capable of compensating both high dynamic disturbances and stationary disturbances (e. g. unbalanced loads and steady wind flows). The concept is analyzed by simulations and experimental investigations. Beside transient command responses also the frequency response of the system is experimentally evaluated and used for a validation of the model and theoretical findings. Typical test setups consist of two mechanically coupled motors, one of which is the Device Under Test (DUT) while the other is used as a load drive for emulation. Existing emulation concepts either rely on the differentiation of velocity feedback or utilize measured quantities of the DUT. The emulation method proposed in this paper uses acceleration feedback to control the torque of the load drive. The converter operates at 100 kHz and the nominal DC bus voltage is 650 V. The DC grid the AIC is designed for is a conductor system with distributed DC link capacitors and intelligent energy storages alongside the conductor. Due to the use of intelligent energy storages, which meet the energy demand when load transients occur, it is possible to optimize the AIC for a lower power to ensure maximum system efficiency. Alle hessischen Kläranlagen ab einer Ausbaugröße von 1.000 EW müssen nun Schritt für Schritt niedrigere Phosphor-Grenzwerte einhalten. Durch eine Halbierung der Phosphor-Einträge sollen in allen Fließgewässern die Phosphat-P-Konzentrationen auf einen unkritischen Wert von unter 0,07 mg/l PO4-P reduziert werden. Im Rahmen der Bestandsaufnahme und Erfolgskontrolle werden in dieser Studie Betriebsergebnisse und Erfahrungen zur Phosphorelimination auf mittelhessischen Kläranlagen systematisch ausgewertet und evaluiert.
