Beispiel des Konzepts Electric Car Express (ECE), eines Zugsystems, das den
gleichzeitigen Transport und das Laden von Elektrofahrzeugen während der Fahrt
ermöglichen soll. Ziel der Arbeit ist die Entwicklung eines Konzeptfilms, der die
Funktionsweise des ECE anschaulich und für ein breites Publikum verständlich
visualisiert.
Methodisch wird in vier Schritten vorgegangen: Zunächst erfolgt die Definition
der darzustellenden Innovation, gefolgt von einer Analyse bestehender Konzeptund
Werbefilme technologischer Mobilitätslösungen. Auf Basis der gewonnenen
Erkenntnisse wird ein eigener Animationsfilm produziert und anschließend im
Hinblick auf Verständlichkeit, Glaubwürdigkeit und Zielgruppenansprache
reflektiert.
Die Analyse zeigt, dass insbesondere eine reduzierte visuelle Sprache, eine
lineare Narration sowie eine ausgewogene Kombination aus technischer
Detailgenauigkeit und alltagsnaher Inszenierung maßgeblich zur erfolgreichen
Vermittlung beitragen. Der resultierende ECE-Film setzt diese Prinzipien um und
verdeutlicht, wie audiovisuelle Medien genutzt werden können, um visionäre
Konzepte plausibel darzustellen, Akzeptanz zu fördern und Diskussionen über
zukünftige Mobilitätslösungen anzuregen.}},

  abstract     = {{Diese Bachelorarbeit befasst sich mit der iterativen Entwicklung und Optimierung eines 
interaktiven Tutorials für das asymmetrische Koop-Spiel „Tabletop Tumult“, in dem ein 
VR-Spieler und ein PC-Spieler zusammenarbeiten, um eine Burg zu verteidigen. Da 
der Einstieg in Virtual-Reality-Umgebungen für unerfahrene Spieler oft eine Heraus
forderung darstellt, bestand die zentrale Problemstellung darin, spezifische Einstiegs
hürden im Onboarding-Prozess von „Tabletop Tumult“ zu identifizieren und zu behe
ben. 
Die Arbeit verfolgt einen iterativen Entwicklungsansatz, der auf Playtests und syste
matischem Nutzerfeedback basiert. Über drei Zyklen hinweg wurden das Tutorial kon
zipiert, implementiert, getestet und basierend auf den gesammelten Daten überarbei
tet. Zur Datenerhebung wurden sowohl qualitative Methoden wie Beobachtungen und 
Interviews als auch quantitative Methoden wie Fragebögen und spielinterne Metriken 
eingesetzt. 
Die Ergebnisse der iterativen Entwicklung zeigen eine signifikante Verbesserung der 
Spielerfahrung. Insbesondere die dritte Tutorial-Version führte zu einer messbaren 
Steigerung der Spielkompetenz, indem sich der durchschnittliche Highscore im Ver
gleich zur Vorversion mehr als verdoppelte (+101 %). Auch die Nutzung relevanter 
Spielmechaniken durch beide Spielerrollen stieg deutlich an, was auf eine erhöhte 
Lerneffektivität hinweist. Trotz dieser Erfolge deckte das qualitative Feedback weiter
hin Usability-Probleme auf, wie unklare Erklärungen zur Ressourcenverbindung zwi
schen den Spielern und Sprachbarrieren bei englischen UI-Texten. Die Arbeit schließt 
mit der Ableitung von Best Practices für das Onboarding in asymmetrischen VR-Spie
len und Implikationen für die weitere Entwicklung von Tabletop Tumult ab.}},

  abstract     = {{Der Einsatz von Gamification in Produktionsumgebungen wird zunehmend in Mensch-Technik Systemen (MTS) zur Steigerung von Motivation, Engagement und Produktivität eingesetzt. Jedoch fehlt bisher eine systematische Betrachtung, welche Anforderungen an diese gamifizierten MTS gestellt werden und wie diese zu einer inklusiven Gestaltung beitragen können. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, Anforderungen an gamifizierte MTS in Produktionskontexten systematisch aus der Literatur zu identifizieren, zu strukturieren und hinsichtlich ihres Beitrags zur inklusiven Gestaltung zu analysieren. Dazu wurde eine systematische Literaturrecherche (SLR) durchgeführt, auf deren Grundlage dreizehn relevante Publikationen identifiziert wurden. Die Analyse zeigt, dass sich ein Großteil der Anforderungen auf ergonomische und technische Aspekte konzentriert, wohingegen sicherheitsbezogene, organisatorische und leistungsbezogene Anforderungen wenig Berücksichtigung finden. Aspekte einer inklusiven Gestaltung werden bisher implizit in der Literatur adressiert. Zudem bezieht sich die bisherige Literatur zwar auf gamifizierte MTS, die konkreten Anforderungen an z.B. Gamification-Elemente werden jedoch nicht beschrieben. So fehlen z.B. Anforderungen an die Ausgestaltung dieser Elemente, insbesondere unter Berücksichtigung inklusiver Gestaltung.}},

  abstract     = {{Die Identifikation und Umsetzung von Produktänderungen ist ein wissensintensiver und fehleranfälliger Prozess, dessen Erfolg von der Zuverlässigkeit der beteiligten Entwickler*innen abhängt. Daher präsentiert dieser Beitrag ein konzeptionelles Modell, welches die Zusammenhänge von Einflussfaktoren auf die menschliche Zuverlässigkeit (mZ) beschreibt. Durch eine systematische Literaturrecherche wurden relevante Einflussfaktoren identifiziert und im Arbeitssystemmodell nach Schlick et al. (2018) strukturiert. Das daraus entwickelte konzeptionelle Modell visualisiert die Zusammenhänge von Einflussfaktoren auf die mZ und den Output. Das Modell bildet eine Grundlage für zukünftige empirische Evaluationen, z. B. durch Strukturgleichungsmodelle, und liefert Ansatzpunkte zur Verbesserung der mZ in Produktänderungsprozessen.}},

  abstract     = {{Bioactive peptides are increasingly employed in cosmetic products and these are generically known as cosmetic peptides. This review aims to provide an update on current information related to commercially available cosmetic peptides, and the in vitro and ex vivo evidence for their potential biological effects. A total of 102 commercially available cosmetic peptides were identified. The majority of these peptides are inspired by molecules already found in the human body, including sequences from extracellular matrix molecules, also known as matrikines. Cosmetic peptides are produced either through chemical synthesis or via biotechnological processes. Their claimed biological activities include signaling to increase collagen and hyaluronic acid production, modulation of pigmentation, maintenance of a healthy skin microbiome, antioxidant activity and cellular defense, immunomodulation, neurotransmitter inhibition, enzyme activity inhibition and trace mineral carriers. The primary structure and current scientific evidence for the bioactivities of these peptides are presented and discussed. The review highlights the diverse methodological approaches used and the outcomes measured in the assessment of cosmetic peptide efficacy. Overall, a large range of cosmetic peptides are commercially available whose efficacy is supported by divergent levels of in vitro and ex vivo data.}},

  abstract     = {{In recent years, there has been an increasing awareness of the importance of incorporating diversity into research projects, focusing on both how they are conducted and their content. Funding organizations have started to require that research applicants pay attention to inclusion and diversity by considering gender dimensions and other diversity factors in their project plans and ensuring gender equality during execution. Based on an extensive literature research and expert discussions on how to develop and implement diversity strategies in large collaborative research projects, we argue that there is a lack of practical advice in existing literature. Drawing from our own experiences in conceptualizing and implementing a Diversity Program across four universities in Germany, we propose a framework for effectively integrating diversity into collaborative research initiatives across various academic fields.}},

  abstract     = {{Diese Arbeit untersucht, wie kulturelle Perspektiven die ästhetische Wahrnehmung im dokumentarischen Film prägen und wie dieser Einfluss in der Kameraarbeit sichtbar wird. Ausgangspunkt ist eine in Marokko produzierte Dokumentation, die junge Menschen aus den verschiedenen Orten Imsouane, Tafraoute und Casablanca porträtiert. Theoretische Ansätze zu ästhetischer Wahrnehmung, kultureller Prägung und dokumentarischer Bildästhetik bilden den Rahmen, um eigene Kameraentscheidungen kritisch zu analysieren.
Anhand ausgewählter Szenen wird deutlich, dass dokumentarische Bilder nicht nur Realität abbilden, sondern durch Auswahl, Perspektive und Bildgestaltung aktiv Bedeutungen erzeugen. Bestimmte Szenen zeigen, wie stark der westlich geprägte Blick eingefangene Motive beeinflusst, die für die Mitwirkenden alltäglich sind. Gleichzeitig verdeutlichen spontane Begegnungen, dass die Offenheit für das Ungeplante ebenso wichtig sein kann, wie bewusst geplante Situationen. 
Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen, dass kulturelle Prägung keine Einschränkung ist, sondern eine gestalterische Ressource sein kann. Die bewusste Reflexion dieser Einflüsse ermöglicht es, Bilder zu schaffen, die ästhetisch ansprechend sind und zugleich zur Hinterfragung eigener Wahrnehmungsmuster einladen.}},

  abstract     = {{Die Bachelorarbeit untersucht, wie die eigene Position des Regisseurs im dokumentarischen Interview bewusst gestaltet werden kann, um Gesprächsdynamiken in interkulturellen Kontexten zu fördern. Ausgangspunkt ist ein Dokumentarfilmprojekt in Marokko (Imsouane, Tafraoute, Casablanca), in dem junge Menschen über ihre Kultur- und Zukunftsvorstellungen sprechen. Theoretisch stützt sich die Arbeit auf Konzepte dokumentarischer Ethik (Rabiger, Troller), interkultureller Kommunikation (Hoffmann, TOPOI-Modell), Psychologie (Boesch, Bartmann) sowie Kulturstandards (Thomas, Krewer).

Zentral wird ein Fünf-Phasen-Modell des interkulturellen Interviews entwickelt, das den Prozess als kollektiven Aushandlungsraum beschreibt: (1) Selbstverortung, (2) Fremdheit und Projektion, (3) Aktivierung kollektiver Schnittmengen, (4) Öffnung und Aushandlung sowie (5) Spiegelung und Veränderung. Dieses Modell versteht Interviews als zirkuläre Prozesse, in denen Nähe und Differenz fortlaufend neu verhandelt werden.

Die Analyse ausgewählter Interviewszenen zeigt, dass geteilte Kollektive – etwa gemeinsame biografische Bezüge oder Werte – die entscheidende Grundlage für Vertrauen und Tiefgang bilden. Fremdheit erweist sich dabei nicht als Hindernis, sondern als produktive Ressource, die dialogische Prozesse anregen kann. Zugleich werden Grenzen sichtbar, etwa in Übersetzungssettings oder bei unausgeglichenen Machtverhältnissen.

Die Arbeit leistet damit einen Beitrag zur dokumentarischen Praxis, indem sie Theorie und Regieerfahrung verbindet und ein praxisnahes, reflexives Modell zur Gestaltung interkultureller Interviews vorschlägt.}},

  abstract     = {{Atranones are secondary metabolites produced by Stachybotrys chartarum, a mold frequently found in water-damaged indoor environments. In contrast to the well-characterized and highly toxic macrocyclic trichothecenes, atranones have received relatively limited scientific attention. Approximately 60% of S. chartarum isolates from indoor environments produce atranones, while 40% form macrocyclic trichothecenes. No strain has been shown to produce both, indicating that the biosynthetic pathways for these two mycotoxin classes are mutually exclusive. Atranones are dolabellane-like diterpenoids synthesized from geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate through multiple enzymatic steps encoded by a specific core gene cluster. While the genetic structure of this cluster has been elucidated, its regulatory mechanisms remain poorly understood. Notably, although atranone-producing S. chartarum strains have been isolated from indoor settings, no study has yet confirmed the actual production of atranones in indoor environments, leaving the question of real-world exposure unresolved. Experimental studies in cell cultures and animal models indicate that atranones possess pro-inflammatory and cytotoxic properties, including the induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Atranone Q has demonstrated antitumor activity against osteosarcoma cells in vitro, and more recently identified derivatives such as stachatranone and stachybatranone have shown preliminary cardioprotective effects under ischemic conditions. However, these pharmacological effects remain exploratory and require further validation in in vivo models. Major knowledge gaps concern the environmental triggers for atranone biosynthesis, their regulation, actual presence in built environments, and potential health risks. These areas represent key priorities for future research. }},

  abstract     = {{Although electronic nose technology has been studied for years, drift effects remain one of the major challenges. While ongoing research focuses on effective correction methods, the evaluation of these methods requires reliable and well-documented datasets. However, only a few drift datasets are available, some of which lack sufficient experimental detail or are outdated. This motivated us to introduce a new long-term drift dataset. It has been collected over 12 months using a commercial electronic nose, which is based on 62-metal oxide sensors. The measurements were conducted under controlled experimental conditions with three analytes (diacetyl, 2-phenylethanol, and ethanol) in different concentrations. The dataset consists of 700 time-series recordings, for which we provide both the raw data and a set of pre-extracted features. The data can support the development, evaluation, and comparison of methods for feature extraction and selection, as well as drift detection and compensation. By providing a comprehensive, well-documented dataset, we aim to advance research on sensor drift in electronic nose systems.}},

  abstract     = {{This study explores the transition from a linear to a circular economy in the building and construction industry, focusing on the environmental impacts of façade systems in office buildings. The linear „Take-Make-Dispose“ model contributes significantly to resource consumption, waste generation, and CO2 emissions, with the construction sector responsible for 35% of global waste. The EU‘s Circular Economy Action Plan emphasizes designing products to minimize waste and retain resources, highlighting the importance of end-of-life (EoL) considerations in construction. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is employed to evaluate the environmental impacts of design decisions, particularly for stick curtain wall systems, which are widely used in office buildings. The research adopts a mixed methodology, combining literature review and design process analysis, focusing on frame materials (aluminum, steel, wood) and glass options. Three EoL scenarios—reuse, recycling, and demolition—are assessed to determine their impact on embodied carbon. The study is limited to office buildings in Germany, with a case study in Stuttgart, due to the prevalence of stick systems in such structures. Preliminary findings indicate that reuse scenarios generally have the lowest environmental impact, though outcomes vary based on material combinations. By systematically analyzing EoL scenarios, this research provides a framework for optimizing façade designs to enhance sustainability, reduce waste, and promote circularity in real-world construction projects.}},

  abstract     = {{Pasteurization is the prevalent method for stabilizing cloudy apple juice and prolonging its shelf life, but can also impair quality. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and quantify the chemical, physical and sensory effects of this treatment. In this study, cloudy apple juice was treated at different time-temperature combinations with equivalent microbial lethality with 161.6 PU. These can be categorized as low temperature/long time (LTLT with 70°C and 80°C) or high temperature/short time (HTST with 90°C, 100°C and 105°C) treatments. The results were compared to those of untreated juice. HTST treatment had significantly less impact on the juice compared to LTLT treatment. LTLT-treated juices were characterized by different sensory attributes, such as raisin and caramel odor and bitter taste. In contrast, the untreated and HTST-treated juices exhibited odors like pear and lemon. There were also significant differences in turbidity, sugar composition, viscosity and a heightened 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF) content with LTLT treatment. In summary, HTST-treated juices are more similar to the untreated juices and are rated higher in terms of quality characteristics. The lowest pasteurization temperature of 70°C results in the greatest deterioration of juice quality. It can be concluded that different pasteurization conditions showed different effects on juice quality, despite having the same microbiological lethality of 161.6 PU. Results can be considered when designing pasteurization processes.}},

However, the design of a company-specific information system involving an LLM is associated with a large number of decisions. This leads to a high level of complexity in the design task. Against this background, companies need a structured approach that methodically supports the planning, development, implementation and long-term maintenance of LLM-based information systems so that domain- and company-specific requirements are taken into account as a result. This article therefore describes a method that supports the design, introduction and maintenance process of an LLM-based information system. The method consists of a process model and a list of design principles, which are also referred to as success factors. The process model developed is based on the proven six-stage REFA planning system. To identify and describe success factors, a systematic literature search was carried out. Based on an analysis of the contents of individual literature sources, success factors for the design of LLM-based information systems were identified. These success factors relate, for example, to the quality of the data provided, data security, user-centered system design and feedback mechanisms for improving information output.}},

To ensure employee satisfaction for such a diverse workforce, gamification is a promising method. However, one-size-fits-all approaches are not sufficient, and more user-adaptive and inclusive gamified systems are needed. Therefore, this systematic literature review aims to answer the question of which user-adaptive gamified systems exist for manufacturing and how they provide inclusivity for individuals in their everyday work. Following PRISMA guidelines, a search of five electronic databases retrieved 22 relevant articles. Analysis of the literature revealed a lack of user-centered and inclusive gamified systems. Further, limited empirical evaluations in real production environments, limited application scenarios, and the need for more diverse research were identified. Based on the results, this study identifies key research gaps and provides recommendations for future research.}},

Currently, there is no agreed - upon strategy on how to transform historic parts of the city while maintaining their heritage values. Many cities today are characterised by modern 20th - century heritage, yet it poses a challenge to their liveability and to the adoption of less car - dependent lifestyles. The concept of 15 - minute cities can be used to improve urban liveability, which may positively affect the experience and functionality of modern historic urban landscapes (HUL). A review of the existing literature on the 15 - minute city concept was carried out with the aim of identifying its key indicators and proposing possible new ones. This research primarily explores how the 15 - minute city concept can be applied holistically and efficiently in modern heritage. Following the PRISMA guidelines, 20 articles published after the introduction of the concept and meeting the inclusion criteria in the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases were reviewed. Selected examples and case studies are analysed to contextualise these variables and explore how they can be reflected in modern historic urban landscapes. As a result, the following variables are identified as central to the 15 - minute city concept: mobility, time, distance, speed, functions of the amenities each with their associated indicators. Moreover, spatial characteristics, human - centred factors and heritage values are proposed as variables. The results are expected to give insights into how to operationalise the concept of 15 - minute cities in modern sites of historic urban landscapes, in order to improve liveability while simultaneously preserving its values. This research contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting walkable, climate - resilient neighbourhoods. In particular, it aligns with SDG Target 11.4, which focuses on cultural and natural heritage.}},

Ausgangspunkt ist die Beobachtung, dass moderne Text-zu-Bild-Modelle fotorealistische Inhalte erzeugen, die für Betrachtende oft kaum von Fotografien zu unterscheiden sind und so Desinformation, Vertrauensverlust und die Glaubwürdigkeit visueller Belege schwächen. Theoretisch werden zunächst Grundlagen digitaler Bilder, typische Artefakte sowie eine Typologie echter, bearbeiteter und KI-generierter Bilder entwickelt. Daran anschließend beschreibt die Arbeit zentrale Generationsverfahren (insbesondere Generative Adversarial Networks und Diffusionsmodelle), diskutiert den Einfluss verzerrter Trainingsdaten und leitet wiederkehrende visuelle Auffälligkeiten KI-generierter Porträts ab, etwa anatomische Fehler, stilistische Glättungen oder physikalische Inkonsistenzen. Darauf aufbauend wird ein interaktives Webquiz konzipiert und technisch mit React und TypeScript umgesetzt, in dem Nutzer:innen jeweils ein fotografisches und ein KI-generiertes Bildpaar vergleichen und das synthetische Bild identifizieren sollen. Ein gezieltes Feedbacksystem erläutert bei Fehlentscheidungen die relevanten Merkmale und soll weniger Leistung messen als vielmehr für die Schwierigkeit der Unterscheidung sensibilisieren. Abschließend werden Chancen und Risiken KI-generierter Bilder im Kontext politischer Desinformation, journalistischer Standards und Medienkompetenz diskutiert. Die Arbeit zeigt, dass menschliche Erkennungsleistungen klaren Grenzen unterliegen, interaktive Lernformate wie das entwickelte Quiz aber das Bewusstsein für typische KI-Artefakte stärken und als Grundlage für zukünftige empirische Studien zur Medienbildung dienen können. }},

  abstract     = {{The mental health crisis among university students is gradually increasing, from psychological fatigue, burnout, and anxiety to suicide, forcing universities to integrate a mental health focus in sustainable campus planning. Mental health can be influenced, either alleviated or exacerbated, by the academic environment. Campus Sustainability Assessment Tools (CSATs) provided various indicators, but few include spatial indicators related to mental health. To bridge this gap, it is essential to understand the influence of spatial aspects on students’ psychological well - being. Identifying environmental stressors and spatial qualities and translating them into indicators that can be consistently defined and evaluated is relevant. This study aims to address the gap in CSATs regarding students' mental health and to develop spatial indicators for universities to embed mental health. The goal is to propose spatial indicators that allow universities to evaluate and measure the relationship between the built campus environment and mental health. A comparative analysis was conducted on ten CSAT frameworks and two related frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Circular Economy (CE), with a focus on identifying and evaluating existing assessments. In parallel, a review was conducted to analyze key psychological stressors and interventions in the academic environment for university students' mental health. This included formulating spatial indicators that describe, quantify, and assess the relationship to psychological outcomes. Findings show that existing CSATs prioritize curriculum and teaching approaches, and research includes scholarship, social network, and operational aspects. However, only the Sustainability Tool for Auditing Universities' Curricula in Higher Education (STAUNCH) and Sustainability Tracking, Assessment &amp; Rating System (STARS) explicitly reference mental health. Apart from STAUNCH and UI GreenMetric, which include indicators of biodiversity and green space ratio, respectively, nearly all frameworks focus on non - physical, conceptual metrics. The identification of spatial indicators is linked to specific design attributes — such as natural light, spatial openness, and access to nature — that promise reduced stress and enhanced emotional well - being. Key findings related to the study’s spatial indicators propose a three - part indicator set: 1. Psycho - spatial indicators (e.g., light, acoustic, and visual comfort, finishing material, accessibility, air quality, layout) . 2. Socio - spatial indicators (e.g., communal area, visibility, accessibility, safety, interconnection) . 3. Restorative spatial indicators (e.g., naturalness, spatiality, safety and security, privacy - public balance) . Universities must focus on preserving students’ mental health by improving their physical environments, especially because supporting and fostering mental health is no longer optional. Understanding the tangible ways in which space impacts mental health enables universities to define clear, measurable criteria for improvement. These findings offer a practical foundation for evaluating existing environments and guiding future design interventions. A three - part indicator set will be developed and applied through a mixed - method case study approach, implemented in two existing campuses, and it will be examined in depth via on - site observations, structured interviews, and student surveys to capture both measurable data and lived experiences. The framework aims to articulate the connection between spatial design and mental health and to establish a methodology for identifying, defining, and assessing these indicators across different university settings.}},

However, scientific validation is required, typically by comparing results to manual counting. To address this, we present a method to evaluate and compare two cell counting methods exemplified by a manual and a semi‐automated method (Countstar BioTech). Experiments followed validation parameters aligned with the International Council for Harmonization (ICH) Q2(R1) guideline and a dilution series design based on ISO 20391‐2:2019. Both the semi‐automated and manual methods showed comparable specificity and linearity for Chinese hamster ovary (CHO)‐K1 cells.   abstract     = {{This study explores the feasibility and potential of integrating dish–Stirling systems (DSSs) into multigeneration energy systems, focusing on their ability to produce both thermal and electrical energy. By leveraging the concentrated solar power capabilities of DSSs, this research examines their performance relative to alternative solutions such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar heating. A 25 kW Stirling Energy Systems (SES) DSS served as the basis for the analysis. Simulations were performed for local 2022 weather conditions in Germany. The study employed a detailed modeling approach using the NREL System Advisor Model (SAM) to quantify the energy outputs and evaluate the system efficiencies. The results indicate that the DSS achieved an electrical efficiency of 25% and a combined efficiency of 78% when accounting for the maximum thermal energy generated. Seasonal analysis highlights the adaptability to fluctuating energy demands, with advantages in winter heating applications. Comparative evaluations revealed DSSs as a viable cogeneration alternative to standalone PV systems and solar heaters, offering reduced environmental impacts and enhanced energy efficiency. Future work will address real-world operational conditions, including thermal storage and multigeneration integration, positioning the DSS as a sustainable solution for renewable energy generation.}},

The aim of this study was to compare the fattening performance and pork quality of 10 pigs from the endangered breed Bentheim Black Pied (BBS) with 30 F1 pigs from the widely used Danish hybrid pig (Large White x Danish Landrace) crossed with BBS (BHP), all fattened up under free-range conditions.

Material and Methods

A total of 40 pigs were fattened up under a restrictive feeding regime on a 1.28ha pasture and weighed monthly. Subsequently, the pigs were slaughtered, carcass traits were assessed, and samples from M. longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL) and back-fat were collected for laboratory analysis.

Results

Fattening performance differed significantly between the groups: BHP pigs were significantly heavier at the end of the fattening period (128.3 kg BHP vs. 102.5 kg BBS), with significantly higher average daily weight gain. Significant differences were observed in carcass characteristics (carcass length, cutlet weight, carcass yield). However, BBS pigs showed a more favourable fatty acid profile, notably with higher levels of the essential α-linolenic acid. Water-holding capacity was lower in BHP pigs, with significantly higher drip losses during cold storage at 2°C, while grill- and thawing-losses did not differ significantly. Sensory analysis revealed that untrained panellists were able to distinguish between meat of both groups. BBS meat was rated as more tender, which was also confirmed by significantly lower shear force measurements.

Conclusion and Clinical relevance

The study showed that crossbreeding BBS and Danish hybrid pigs can compensate for performance deficits of the traditional breed -such as slower growth- while partially retaining beneficial traits, such as a nutritionally superior fatty acid composition. Overall, the results are in line with the expectations for F1 crossbred pigs, when 2 breeds with different performance parameters are used. These findings are relevant for veterinary practitioners involved in sustainable pig production, the conservation of rare breeds, and the development of alternative outdoor husbandry systems.}},

This editorial examines the 2025 congress, from IALE’s founding in Piešťany to its current role addressing environmental and societal crises. We review its historical context, in particular Eastern European contributions in former Czechoslovakia, and the ongoing influence of pioneers like Prof. Milan Ružička. We then analyze congress participants and their contributions using bibliometric analysis to reveal patterns and international trends. Finally, we reflect on the 2025 issue of Landscape Online, exploring how its publications align with and expand upon the key discussions and innovations that defined this year’s European Congress.}},

  abstract     = {{In weakly-structured work processes, workers are free to decide in which sequence to process their tasks. Predicting their decision-making helps plan production more accurately while preserving workers’ autonomy. The factors that influence workers’ decision-making depend on the manufacturing process and person considered, and they must be newly collected for each use case. This paper identifies the factors influencing workers when deciding in which sequence to process manufacturing tasks in a medium-sized hydraulic cylinder manufacturer. Five workers and two lead workers were observed and interviewed during several work shifts about influencing factors. The authors propose a new interview technique called indifference testing to overcome subjects’ difficulty articulating their decision-making process. Collected factors were categorized using inductive category formation and context analysis. The analyses identified 75 influencing factors comprising 37 decision attributes and 38 decision rules. The identified decision attributes indicate that worker preferences are influenced by attributes from the classical scheduling literature and attributes related to worker well-being, circadian rhythms, and ergonomics. The identified decision rules are useful constituents of more complex preference functions. The decision attributes and rules enable the construction of machine learning models to predict workers’ task sequencing decisions in job shops. Potential applications include systematically eliminating or controlling influencing factors through workplace design measures to increase worker well-being and optimality of their decisions.}},

Das Zusammenspiel individueller Planungsstrategien von Mitarbeitenden innerhalb eines Fertigungsprozesses kann sich positiv als auch negativ auf das Erreichen der produktionslogistischen Zielgrößen auswirken. In diesem Beitrag wird eine Variante des Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problems vorgestellt, welches das Entscheidungsverhalten autonomer Arbeitspersonen bezüglich der Bearbeitungsreihenfolgebildung berücksichtigt. Weiterhin wird die Ableitung arbeitsorganisatorischer Gestaltungsempfehlungen durch die Analyse individueller Planungsstrategien von Arbeitspersonen mittels Methoden der erklärbaren künstlichen Intelligenz demonstriert. Betrachtungsgegenstand der Analyse ist die Entscheidung von Arbeitspersonen, in welcher Reihenfolge sie ihre täglichen Aufgaben abarbeiten.   abstract     = {{Determination key of German damselfly and dragonfly exuviae (Odonata) – An identification key for the exuviae and final-instar larvae of all 82 damselfly and dragonfly species recorded in Germany to date is presented. The introduction describes methods and search strategies for collecting exuviae, presents phenological aspects being important for exuviae
surveys, and introduces methods for recording exuviae. Information is given on the storage, transport and shipping of exuviae and the preservation of larvae. Materials and procedures for the preparation and identification of exuviae and larvae are described.
The terminology used in the key to describe the morphological features of exuviae and larvae is given by presenting figures and a glossary. In the main section the determination key for exuviae of all 82 damselfly and dragonfly species recorded in Germany is presented. The breakdown is done down to the species level, except for the following species and species pairs, as no reliable distinctive features are known for them so far: Coenagrion puella/C. pulchellum and Sympecma fusca/S. paedisca, as well as Sympetrum meridionale, whose distinguishing features from S. sanguineum and S. striolatum are not yet sufficiently known.
The key baises on the currently known and published distinctive features for exuviae and final-instar larvae, focusing on differentiation characteristics that have proven to be robust and reliable and are also easily recognisable for beginners in exuviae identification. }},

Zur Formalisierung der Beschreibung bestehen mit K3 und BPMN 2.0 zwei graphische Modellierungssprachen. Im vorliegenden Beitrag erfolgt ein Vergleich der Zeichensätze sowie syntaktischen, semantischen und pragmatischen Merkmale beider Modellierungssprachen. Hierdurch werden die Kernideen von K3 herausgearbeitet und deren Fortbestand in BPMN 2.0 untersucht. Für nicht kongruente Merkmale werden Modellierungsalternativen in BPMN 2.0 dargelegt und die Erkenntnisse im Anschluss kritisch diskutiert. Als Fazit wird die Fähigkeit zum vollständigen Ersatz von K3 durch BPMN 2.0 für die Modellierung von Arbeitsprozessen festgestellt.}},

Eine hohe Modellqualität liegt dann vor, wenn eine Konformität des Prozessmodells mit der Syntax der verwendeten graphischen Beschreibungssprache und der semantischen Korrektheit besteht, die zu einer angemessenen Übereinstimmung mit dem modellierten
Realweltausschnitt führt. Die algorithmenbasierte Erzeugung von Geschäftsprozessmodellen erfordert aber oftmals eine Revidierung, Verbesserung und Ergänzung von Wissen durch den Menschen. Für den Beitrag ist aus bestehenden Log-Dateien ein graphisches eEPK-Prozessmodell erzeugt worden, welches semantische und notationsbezogene Fehler

  abstract     = {{The use of lubricants on electrical connector contacts is essential for certain applications in order to reduce mating forces, minimize wear, and mitigate fretting corrosion. However, increasing performance requirements (e.g., operation at elevated temperatures) and regulatory restrictions are prompting a reassessment of lubricant selection. In this study, the influence of three lubricants (one oil and two greases), operating temperature (room temperature and 130°C), and applied volume (low, medium and high volume) on electrical contact resistance (ECR) and coefficient of friction (CoF) is investigated by means of fretting wear tests on silver-plated contacts. The results show that unlubricated silver contacts exhibit a longer stable phase at 130 °C than at room temperature. For lubricated contacts, service life is influenced by both temperature and lubricant volume. Certain lubricants demonstrate earlier fail at room temperature than at elevated temperatures. The findings highlight the importance of careful selection and optimization of lubricants for electrical connectors under varying environmental conditions.}},

  abstract     = {{How can media professionals be made aware of outdated stereotypes about women and encouraged to explore new creative avenues? This master’s thesis seeks to answer this question. Using a curated collection of examples ranging from outdated to discriminatory stereotypes about women in design, the thesis aims to highlight the problem and its impact on equality, equal rights, and self-determination. In addition, an online survey is conducted to capture the general sentiment regarding the perception of stereotypes about women in design, as well as the participants’ subjective feelings and experiences. Furthermore, the thesis examines the extent to which the topic of women’s empowerment is known within the field of design, how it is discussed, and what relevance it holds for participants from different areas of professional practice. It also explores whether gender-specific opinions can be identified and whether there are concrete wishes or approaches
for breaking down and avoiding stereotypes. Interviews with experts from various social sectors help examine the topic from multiple perspectives and present individual, practice-based approaches. Definitions, the collection of examples, and video recordings of the expert interviews are published on a website created specifically for this purpose, which also offers visitors the opportunity to share their own experiences and proposed solutions. Suggestions for cross-media support

  abstract     = {{Traditional project management literature often portrays heuristics as flawed shortcuts leading to errors, advocating for rational, debiasing strategies to prevent cost overruns and benefit shortfalls. This is problematic as heuristics can be effective. Building on Gigerenzer’s concept of fast-and-frugal heuristics, this study examines the use of such smart heuristics by senior managers in a large engineering consultancy firm during the early bid/no-bid decision-making phase of infrastructure projects. Employing a qualitative method from the naturalistic decision-making program, the research uncovers a decision strategy termed "thresholding." This strategy distills extensive experience and interpretation of ambiguous information into binary decisions, effectively de-selecting projects that could be potentially disastrous. The approach also gives credence to agency, as it only deselects disasters but keeps many potential alternatives in the portfolio to mature into potentially ‘good projects’. At the same time, it addresses Flyvbjerg’s call for some scrutiny at the front end of projects to avoid catastrophic projects that start on the wrong premises. Our chapter adds to the debate on the Hiding Hand by not being concerned with the “hidden”, but instead, with what can be known in the early fuzzy front-end of projects.}},

  abstract     = {{The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of a steam-vacuum treatment of the surface of industrially slaughtered pig carcasses after evisceration but before chilling. Both the reduction of the microbial load after contamination with stomach contents, bile, or tubular rail fat and color changes of the carcass surface were investigated. Up to 25 samples per type of contamination were examined within an experimental setting under regular slaughterhouse conditions. The steam-vacuum treatment was applied on the approximately 30 cm long carcass rind between 2 and 8 s. This led to a statistically significant reduction (p < 0.0001) in total bacterial counts of up to 2 log10 levels to values near or below the lower detection limit for all types of contamination considered (stomach contents (−1.2 log CFU/cm2) (p < 0.0001), bile (−1.6 log CFU/cm2) (p < 0.0001) and tubular fat (−2.2 log CFU/cm2) (p < 0.0001). Noncontaminated, nontreated carcasses underwent a color change of ΔE = 2.5 ± 1.2 (ΔE represents the overall color difference, where higher values indicate more noticeable color changes.) during storage of the carcass surface at 2 °C after 24 and 48 h. After steam-vacuum treatment, no statistically significant color differences (24 h storage: 2 s p = 0.7403, 4 s p = 0.8769, 6 s p = 0.1755, 8 s p = 0.0971; 48 h storage: 2 s p = 0.9710, 4 s p = 0.9967, 6 s p = 0.5648, 8 s p = 0.5360) were observed compared to untreated carcasses after storage (ΔE = 3.2 ± 1.3). Stomach content could be completely removed by the steam-vacuum treatment without affecting the color (48 h storage: 2 s p = 0.9704, 4 s p = 1.000, 6 s p = 1.000, 8 s p = 0.9996) compared with the control group. The color changes caused by bile (ΔE = 12.9 ± 4.12; p < 0.0001) and tubular rail fat (ΔE = 8 ± 3; p < 0.0001) could not be reversed completely by vacuum steam treatment. After contamination and decontamination, significant color differences remained in the b* (yellowness) range for bile (p < 0.0001) and in all three color ranges for tubular rail fat (p < 0.0001). Overall, steam-vacuum treatment appears to be a suitable microbiological decontamination method, as the microbial levels after treatment were below the detection limit.}},

  abstract     = {{Der vorliegende Band 50 der Schriftenreihe WASSER • ABWASSER • UMWELT gibt die Ergebnisse der vierten und letzten Phase eines durch das Hessische Ministerium für Landwirtschaft und Umwelt, Weinbau, Forsten, Jagd und Heimat; HMLU (bei Projektbeginn: Hessisches Ministerium für Umwelt, Klimaschutz, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz (HMUKLV)) seit 2002 geförderten Vorhabens wieder, in dessen Rahmen das Retentionsbodenfilter-Verfahren unter diversen verfahrenstechnischen und leistungsbezogenen Aspekten untersucht wurde. Diese beinhalteten neben der Reinigungsleistung bezüglich der Kohlenstoffverbindungen weitere Betrachtungen zum Nährstoffrückhalt von Stickstoff und Phosphor, zu den Auswirkung solcher Anlagen auf das Gewässer insgesamt, zur Möglichkeit der Hygienisierung sowie zum Schwermetallrückhalt. Zugehörige Forschungsberichte und Promotionsarbeiten sind als Band 29, Band 30, Band 33 und Band 35 in dieser Schriftenreihe veröffentlicht worden. Außerdem wurden gegen Ende der dritten Untersuchungsphase kleinmaßstäbliche Untersuchungen zum Betrieb einer nachgeschalteten Phosphor-Sorptionsstufe durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse waren sehr vielversprechend, auch im Hinblick auf den Rückhalt von Schwermetallen. Als Konsequenz hieraus ergab sich, die Verfahrenskonzeption einer nachgeschalteten Sorptionsstufe in einer nachfolgenden Untersuchungsphase großtechnisch umzusetzen und Planung, Bemessung, Inbetriebnahme und die erste Betriebszeit intensiv wissenschaftlich zu begleiten. Daher wurde in der abschließenden vierten Untersuchungsphase nun die Leistungsfähigkeit der neuartigen Kombination eines nicht meliorierten Retentionsbodenfilters mit einer nachgeschalteten Sorptionsstufe im großtechnischen Maßstab untersucht, wobei neben den betrieblichen Aspekten der Fokus auf dem Rückhalt von Phosphor sowie Schwermetallen und zusätzlich auch Spurenstoffen im Gesamtsystem lag. Als Standort dieser Untersuchungen, die von 2014 bis 2017 durchgeführt wurden, wurde die Retentionsbodenfilteranlage RBF Korbach (am Standort der alten Kläranlage Korbach), betrieben von der Hansestadt Korbach, ausgewählt. Hier hatten frühere Erhebungen dringenden Handlungsbedarf zur gezielten und dauerhaften Phosphorreduzierung im Bereich der Mischwasserentlastungen gezeigt.}},

Its interdisciplinary nature and relevance to environmental management, spatial planning, and conservation have led to its widespread inclusion in research and university curricula. However, there is limited research on what is actually taught in landscape ecology courses and how well students are being prepared to address current global challenges. Moreover, pedagogical practices, including teaching methods and their alignment with educational best practices, remain underexplored.
To address this gap, we conducted a global survey to examine how landscape ecology is taught in higher education across different regions. The study investigates the content, teaching strategies, and modes of instruction employed, with a focus on how students engage with landscape ecological thinking and apply it in real-world contexts. We identify commonly used teaching methods, evaluate their alignment with established pedagogical principles, and highlight opportunities for innovation. Special attention is given to the integration of active learning approaches—such as field-based learning, spatial modelling, and interdisciplinary collaboration—and their role in shaping the next generation of landscape ecologists.}},

This editorial examines the 2025 congress, from IALE’s founding in Piešťany to its current role addressing environmental and societal crises. We review its historical context, in particular Eastern European contributions in former Czechoslovakia, and the ongoing influence of pioneers like Prof. Milan Ružička. Das innovative Weserrenaissance-Museum Schloss Brake zeigt in seiner topaktuellen Sonderausstellung “A KInd of Art. Künstliche Intelligenz trifft (Weser-)Renaissance” überraschende Parallelen und faszinierende Zusammenhänge auf, die kaum jemand vermuten würde. 

 

 

“Zusammen mit der TH OWL und Fraunhofer IOSB-INA wagen wir den Sprung von der Zwei- in die Dreidimensionalität und zeigen Deutschlands erste Museumsausstellung mit KI-Skulpturen, die aus historischen Exponaten entwickelt wurden. Diese weisen allesamt einen unmittelbaren Bezug zur (Weser-)Renaissance auf und kombinieren die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft aufs Vortrefflichste miteinander”, sagt Museumsleiterin Silvia Herrmann. Die KI-Skulpturen stammen dabei allesamt aus einem Master-Kurs-Projekt des Fachbereiches Medienproduktion unter der Leitung von Prof. Anke Stache.

 

 

 

“Hätten Sie beispielsweise gewusst, dass das weltberühmte Universalgenie Leonardo da Vinci bereits vor mehr als 500 Jahren einen Automaten entwickelt hat? Es ist uns gelungen, ein nachgebautes und bewegliches Modell seines ‘Roboter-Ritters’ als Leihgabe für die Ausstellung zu gewinnen”, sagt die Kuratorin Dr. Susanne Hilker. Passend dazu treffen Leonardo da Vinci und der Roboter Ina in Form eines Comics fiktiv aufeinander und unterhalten sich über die Innovationen ihrer jeweiligen Zeit.

 

 

 

Zu bestaunen sind auch zahlreiche kunsthistorische Originale wie beispielsweise “Minerva und die Musen auf dem Helikon” von Hans Rottenhammer oder “Die Tempelreinigung” von Hans und Paul Vredeman de Vries. Auch hierbei gibt es spannende Verbindungen zum Gebiet der künstlichen Intelligenz.

 

 

 

Freuen können sich die Besucher auch auf Mitmachstationen wie eine interaktive Klanginstallation, ein Ergometer, mit dessen Hilfe sie herausfinden können, wie viel Energie die künstliche Intelligenz für ihre Prozesse benötigt, und auf eine Fotobox. 

 

 

 

Apropos Fotos: Im Rahmen dieser Ausstellung stellt das Museum auch originelle Kunstdoppelgänger aus. Darüber hinaus sind im “Freiraum” die 20 besten KI-generierten Bilder zu sehen, die im Rahmen eines Wettbewerbs des CIIT (Centrum Industrial IT) entstanden sind. Schlussendlich wird den Besuchern zur Abstimmung die Frage aller Fragen gestellt: Kann KI Kunst? 

 

 

 

“Wir möchten mit dieser Sonderausstellung zeigen, wie innovativ, interessant und relevant Museen sein können. Ganz bewusst greifen wir dieses topaktuelle Thema auf.   abstract     = {{BackgroundEating disorders (EDs) affect individuals across all genders, but men remain underrepresented in ED treatment settings. Stigma related to EDs in men may impede help-seeking, particularly for symptoms that deviate from traditional masculine ideals. This study investigates whether stigma-related perceptions of EDs in men specifically moderate the association between disordered eating symptoms and help-seeking intentions in men, i.e., whether there is a gender-specific component of ED stigma.MethodsIn a cross-sectional survey, n = 242 men and n = 249 women completed questionnaires on various disordered eating symptoms ("traditional" thinness-oriented, muscularity-oriented, orthorexic, and avoidant/restrictive eating behaviors), stigma-related perceptions of EDs in men, and help-seeking intentions. Moderator analyses were conducted by gender to explore interactions between symptom severity and stigma in predicting help-seeking intentions.ResultsHelp-seeking intentions increased with the severity of disordered eating symptoms in both men and women, except for avoidant/restrictive eating behavior in both genders and muscularity-oriented symptoms in men. Stigma-related perceptions of EDs in men moderated the association between symptoms and help-seeking intentions in men, which was exclusively the case for "feminized" ED symptoms (i.e., thinness and weight concerns). No moderation effects were observed for other symptom domains or among women.ConclusionsResults support the notion of a gender-specific role of stigma in men's help-seeking behaviors for EDs. Such stigma, which seems to be related to "feminized" ED symptoms, may contribute to men's reluctance to seek help for EDs. These findings emphasize the need for interventions tailored to reduce stigma, particularly regarding men's experiences of EDs, to support equal access to healthcare.}},

Recent studies suggest that addressing physical activity urges in patients with AN is a promising target to facilitate weight restoration. This trial will evaluate the feasibility of a virtual reality (VR)-based intervention as an add-on treatment to psychotherapy to improve activity urges and, consequently, initial treatment responses on core outcomes as targeted per AN treatment guidelines.Methods and analysis This single-centre feasibility trial adopts the single-blind, two-arm design and outcome measures of an intended full-scale randomised controlled trial (RCT) in order to establish that all necessary trial components work together as intended. It will evaluate feasibility as the primary endpoint and compare changes in ratings of the urge to be active between patients with AN randomly assigned to receiving VR intervention sessions and patients with AN in a control procedure. The feasibility of the full-scale RCT will depend on whether patients (1) will evaluate the experience as acceptable, (2) tolerate VR side effects and (3) will adhere to the intended intervention schedule. We define a set of three-tiered, formal progression criteria and employ a 'traffic light system' demarcating go (green), amend (amber) and stop (red) signals for advancing to the full-scale RCT.Ethics and dissemination The study was approved by the ethics committee of the Ruhr University Bochum's Medical Faculty at Campus East-Westphalia (AZ 2024-1296, 9 December 2024). This stigmatization contributes to reduced help-seeking and recognition of ED symptoms in men. To address this, targeted interventions for healthcare professionals are needed. The iSMEsH intervention aims to sensitize general practitioners (GPs) in Germany to EDs in men, impart relevant knowledge and skills, and counter the perception of EDs as "women's diseases".Methods We will evaluate the iSMEsH intervention regarding its effects on biased attitudes, knowledge, and self-efficacy among GPs. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design (QUAN -> qual) will be applied in three steps: (1) pre-implementation focus groups and a panel discussion with individuals with lived ED experience and GPs to design the intervention, (2) conduction of a randomized, wait-list controlled trial of the online training trial with GPs and medical students, and (3) post-implementation qualitative interviews with GPs. Quantitative data (step 2) will be analyzed using mixed-measures ANOVAs and contrast analyses (per-protocol) as well as corresponding 2 x 3 linear mixed models with fixed and random effects (intention-to-treat). Qualitative data from step 3 will be analyzed using thematic analysis as outlined by Braun and Clarke (2006). Ethical approval was granted by the Ruhr-University Bochum Ethics Committee (AZ 2023-1106). Participants will provide written or digital informed consent.Discussion The intervention seeks to reduce stigma against men with EDs in primary care by improving GPs' and medical students' knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy.   abstract     = {{Recovery and clinical outcomes following organ transplantation may be negatively influenced by psychological distress. Limited reports from recipients indicate that thoughts and feelings related to the donor/transplanted organ - referred to as donor and donation images (DDI) - may be a source of such distress. The term DDI encompasses all thoughts and emotions that organ recipients associate with the donor or the donated organ. However, empirical knowledge of DDI remains limited. This quantitative survey involving 407 participants represents the first and largest study to quantitatively examine DDI in patients after heart transplantation (HTX). The results revealed a very high prevalence of DDI (91%), with occurrences reported intermittently and often clustered around the time of transplantation, both before and after HTX. Psychological distress predicted the occurrence of DDI before and after HTX and almost all emotions experienced and reported pre-HTX were associated with higher odds of pre-HTX DDI, suggesting it may be a concurrent phenomenon of overall emotional activation. Due to the involvement of emotions associated with uncertainty and low personal control, along with high situational control, DDI may be a part of coping. Some reported avoiding DDI suggesting that, sometimes, they might also represent a stressor. Future studies should further investigate the effects of DDI, including its impact on transplant outcome.}},

However, gender minorities are often not included, which affects the generalizability and equity of healthcare outcomes. Inclusive research must consider the diversity of sex and gender to eliminate inequalities and improve health outcomes.Methods A two-stage expert survey was conducted using a self-developed questionnaire in which the constructs of sex, gender, and gender expression were considered. Experts rated the importance and practicality of assessing these concepts in clinical trials and evaluated terms for suitability and comprehension. In addition, existing definitions were refined. Consensus was defined as 70% agreement or disagreement.Results 14 out of 17 participating experts agreed on the importance to independently assess sex assigned at birth, and 9 out of 16 emphasized this for gender identity in clinical trials. Sex should be assessed with "Please specify your sex assigned at birth" and the answer categories "female", "male", "intersex". Gender identity should be assessed with "I identify as & mldr;" and the answer categories "woman", "man", "nonbinary", "trans woman", "trans man", "genderqueer", "genderfluid", "agender", "two spirit". Assessment of gender expression depends on the research question and may not be relevant for every study.Discussion Our findings emphasize inclusivity by providing multiple gender options and improve data accuracy by allowing individuals to accurately report their gender identity. The results emphasize the importance of distinguishing between sex assigned at birth, gender identity, and gender expression in research. This is due to the lack of systematic evaluations of gender differences related to treatment outcomes for feeding and eating disorders.MethodsThis systematic review with Individual Patient Data Meta-Analysis (IPDMA) will compare the effects of psychotherapeutic interventions for feeding and eating disorders between gender groups. The focus of the analysis is on eating disorders-related psychopathology. For this purpose, randomized-controlled clinical studies will be identified in scientific databases and examined for their methodological quality. Primary investigators will be contacted to deliver anonymized data of their studies. Study results will then be summarized and compared in a two-staged IPDMA. Gender groups will be compared regarding different types of interventions and further relevant intervention characteristics, as identified by men with lived experience.DiscussionThe results will help to formulate treatment recommendations and identify the treatment contexts that are associated with unfavorable outcomes related to patient gender. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted with 304 adult women. Participants completed measures assessing gender role orientation, body ideals, disordered eating symptoms, and muscle dysmorphic symptoms. Mediation analyses were performed. Self-reported Masculinity was associated with stronger muscularity ideals, while Femininity predicted a weaker drive for muscularity. The mediation analysis showed that muscularity ideals completely mediated the relationship between self-perceived Masculinity or Femininity and disordered eating symptoms. The study highlights the importance of considering Gender Roles and muscularity ideals when examining the development of body image concerns and disordered eating behaviors. The findings suggest that promoting flexible gender role perceptions could be an effective focus for public health interventions aimed at preventing and reducing disordered eating. We assessed the subjective perception of RD and affective experiences attributed to the game before measuring aggressive behavior towards the other player in a point subtraction task.ResultsSequential mediation analysis suggested that increases in aggressive affect and decreases in positive affect could be linked to perceiving the game as more unfair for deprived participants, which in turn increased rates of aggressive behavior.ConclusionsAdding to the existing literature, these findings suggest that RD could not only lead to aggression through an affective route but that affective experiences potentially alter perceptions of RD and thus aggressive behavior indirectly.}},

We expanded on previous research by exploring a broader range of ED symptoms, including orthorexia (ON) and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Using network analysis, we analysed data from 308 adult women (18 years or older) who completed muscularity, disordered eating, and sociodemographic assessments. Our findings revealed five interconnected symptom communities reflecting traditional ED symptoms, such as eating concerns and shape and weight overvaluation. Notably, muscularity concerns emerged as a distinct community, emphasising their relevance to ED symptoms in women. Additionally, we identified selective eating tendencies and compulsive healthy eating. Highly central symptoms were rumination about healthy eating, fear and guilt over unhealthy eating, body‐related embarrassment, and muscularity concerns (wishing to be heavier, wishing for heavier arms). These results suggest that muscularity concerns could constitute a uniquely identifiable and central diagnostic target for body image concerns and disordered eating in women.}},

However, the interplay between autistic traits, fat- and muscularity-related BD, and disordered eating remains underexplored. This cross-sectional study examined the relationships between autistic traits, BD, and disordered eating in 298 women. Correlations and mediation analyses, alongside bootstrapping techniques, were used to evaluate relationships between variables. Autistic traits were positively associated with "traditional" disordered eating symptoms including food avoidance and selective eating as well as appearance-related aspects of muscle dysmorphia. Autistic traits were positively associated with avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) symptoms. BD was elevated with increasing autistic traits, only in relation to body fat, not muscularity. Only body fat-related BD (BD-F), but not muscularity-related BD (BD-M) mediated the effect of autistic traits on disordered eating symptoms, predicting increases in both ED and body dysmorphic symptoms, as well as reductions in ARFID symptoms. Our findings suggest that women with autistic traits may be more susceptible to internalizing socially perpetuated body ideals or to social feedback towards their appearance, as only stereotypically "female-typed" BD-F, but not "male-typed" dissatisfaction with muscularity (BD-M) mediated the link between autistic traits and disordered eating. Packages of ready-to-eat vegan meat substitutes were inoculated with certain level of non-pathogenic L. innocua and E. coli and incubated at varying environmental conditions before they were examined for changes in the physico-chemical properties.
The observed ability of the microbes to grow in the snacks may cause a reduction in food safety. This demonstration shows that these ready-to-eat-snacks may cause a reduction in food safety if the product studied is contaminated.}},

Einer dieser Schritte ist der zeit- und kostenintensive Zellproliferationsprozess (auch als Seed Train bezeichnet), um die Zellzahl vom Auftauen der Zellen bis zum Produktionsmaßstab zu erhöhen. Herausforderungen wie komplexer Zellstoffwechsel, Chargen-zu-Chargen-Variationen, Variabilitäten im Zellverhalten und Einflüsse von Änderungen der Kultivierungsbedingungen erfordern adäquate digitale Lösungen, um Informationen über den aktuellen und zukünftigen Prozesszustand bereitzustellen und korrekte Prozessentscheidungen abzuleiten.

Zu diesem Zweck haben sich digitale Seed Train Zwillinge als effizient erwiesen, die das zeitabhängige Verhalten wichtiger Prozessvariablen basierend auf mathematischen Modellen, Strategien und Anpassungsverfahren digital darstellen.

Dieses Kapitel skizziert die Notwendigkeit der Digitalisierung von Seed Trains, den Aufbau eines digitalen Seed Train Zwillings, die Rolle der Parameterschätzung und verschiedene statistische Methoden in diesem Zusammenhang, die auf mehrere Probleme im Bereich der Bioprozessierung anwendbar sind. Die Ergebnisse einer Fallstudie werden vorgestellt, um einen Bayes’schen Ansatz zur Parameterschätzung und Vorhersage eines industriellen Zellkultur-Seed Trains für die Seed Train Digitalisierung zu veranschaulichen.}},

While the earlier approach assumed fixed photovoltaic (PV) and battery capacities, we now propose a cascaded optimization framework to determine the optimal sizing (power rating and orientation of the PV system, battery capacity) while simultaneously optimizing battery dispatch. The cost function combines operational costs with amortized investment costs of both PV and battery systems, embedded in a dynamic scheduling optimization that addresses real-time electricity price and CO2 signals. Numerical results indicate that intermediate capacities and balanced east/west orientation maximize cost-effectiveness and emission reductions. This study underscores the value of coupling parametric design and dispatch optimization to achieve scalable, sustainable solutions for industrial energy systems.}},

  abstract     = {{German consumers have high expectations for the freshness of bakery products. When products like burger buns or toast are not sufficiently soft, significant food waste results. In traditional recipes, sucrose plays several important roles, including extending the shelf life of bread, but it also adds undesirable calories. Allulose is a promising sugar alternative with several technological advantages, such as enhanced browning and improved freshness. This study investigated the effect of allulose on the freshness of yeast-based bakery products compared to sucrose and fructose. Regardless of grain type or flour, the use of allulose led to earlier starch gelatinization, which slowed down starch retrogradation. Storage tests of burger buns at 20 °C and 4 °C showed that buns made with allulose had a softer crumb, higher moisture content, and lower water activity (aw-value) over the entire storage period. The improved freshness was also confirmed by descriptive sensory analysis. These results suggest that using allulose can enhance the freshness of yeast-based bakery products and help reduce food waste caused by excessively dry crumbs. Allulose not only improves texture but also contributes to reducing the environmental impact of food waste by prolonging product freshness.}},

  abstract     = {{The paper explores the correlation between the concepts of territoriality and social practices in the context of urban and rural (re-)production of space. It traces the degree of “habitualisation” of certain actions and the behaviour of stakeholders, identifying those defined as practices, and revealing their role in the (dis-)continuation of territoriality of a region. It takes a German region Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) as a case study. The research methodology is based on the practice theory of Andreas Reckwitz and his “praxeological quadrat of cultural analysis”, which is applied in this study. The research process includes (a) semi-structured interviews with the representatives of several institutions from the region, (b) narrative analysis and thematic content structuring of the interviews and (c) synthesis analysis. The study clarifies relations between the artefacts and discourses mentioned by the interviewees, and their impact on the practices of the institutions and others contributing to the (dis-)continuation of territoriality and identity of the region. The main findings are related to the (1) methodological contribution—operationalisation of the “praxeological quadrat of cultural analysis”, and (2) substantive contribution—revealing the role of social practices on the continuation of territoriality of the region. The article presents cultural patterns in the perception of and orientation towards long-past territorialities by the interviewees and makes clear what significance these historical and historicising spatial references have for the spatial planning of the present.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{Daylight saving time (DST) affects millions of people in various everyday situations and is a common topic of debate in legislative parliaments around the world. This paper presents a literature review on the effects of the clock change and DST on electricity usage, health, crime rates, road safety, and economic aspects. This addresses a gap in current literature reviews, as there is a lack of linked analyses considering these research fields. We show that there are partial positive effects on crime rates and road safety generally that result from the delay in ambient light availability. This contrasts with the clearly negative effects on health and the economic aspects, which are mainly driven by the disturbed circadian rhythm and the resulting sleep problems. Furthermore, we find that the initial idea of DST to save electricity will probably no longer apply and may even lead to increased usage. This literature review provides a basis for future research and promotes interdisciplinary research by summarizing current findings in a cross-disciplinary manner and identifying research gaps and opportunities. Furthermore, the findings may guide policy-making discussions and decisions. }},

  abstract     = {{Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit untersucht die zentrale Forschungsfrage, ob der Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz heute und in der Zukunft maßgebliche Auswirkungen auf die kreativen und produktiven Prozesse in der Musikproduktion der E-Musik hat. Ausgehend von einer historischen Einordnung, die bis in die 1950er Jahre zurückreicht, analysiert die Arbeit aktuelle Entwicklungen und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten von KI in diesem spezifischen musikalischen Bereich. Dabei werden sowohl technische Grundlagen als auch die enge Verbindung zwischen Musik und Mathematik beleuchtet, die den Einsatz von KI in der Musikproduktion ermöglichen.
Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der empirischen Untersuchung mittels qualitativer Interviews mit Experten aus dem Bereich der E-Musik. Diese offenbaren, dass KI gegenwärtig primär als unterstützendes Werkzeug wahrgenommen und eingesetzt wird, wobei sich deutliche Unterschiede zwischen kommerzieller Musik und E-Musik abzeichnen. Während für den kommerziellen Bereich tiefgreifende Veränderungen erwartet werden, prognostizieren die Experten für die E-Musik eine stabilere Entwicklung.
Die Arbeit identifiziert zentrale Herausforderungen bei der Integration von KI, insbesondere bei der Übersetzung künstlerischer Ideen in maschinenverständliche Anweisungen sowie der Wahrung künstlerischer Authentizität. Gleichzeitig werden neue Möglichkeiten der Produktionsunterstützung und kreativen Inspiration aufgezeigt. Die Untersuchung schließt mit einem Ausblick auf zukünftige Entwicklungen und Forschungsrichtungen, wobei sowohl technologische als auch kulturelle und rechtliche Aspekte berücksichtigt werden.}},

However, additively manufactured components usually have rough surfaces that need post-processing, particularly for optical components, where the surface roughness must be a small fraction of the wavelength. We demonstrate an innovative and economical approach by dip-coating with the same resin used for printing in a simple post-processing step, providing high transparency to the 3D-printed optical components and reducing surface roughness while achieving perfect index matching of the coating layer. The surface roughness of the 3D-printed optical components drops to 5 nm (arithmetic average) after the dip-coating process. We observed significant performance enhancements after comparing the unprocessed optical components and the dip-coated optical components, including optical transparency and a shiny surface finish for previously rough surfaces.}},

Die theoretische Grundlage wurde anhand der historischen Entwicklung, der Gegenwart sowie zukünftiger Entwicklungen betrachtet und in verschiedene Kategorien unterteilt, die das Sounddesign strukturieren. Dazu gehören unter anderem Geräusche, Musik und virtuelle Räume. Die zentrale Theorie dieser Arbeit lautet, dass diese Elemente gezielt eingesetzt werden können, um die Narration zu steuern, Stimmungen zu erzeugen und emotionale Reaktionen der Zuhörenden zu beeinflussen.
Diese Theorie wurde anhand verschiedener konkreter Hörspiele überprüft, darunter das eigens erstellte „Lost in the Blind Sea – Eine Reise ins Unbekannte“. Die Hörspiele wurden innerhalb der festgelegten Kategorien beschrieben und analysiert. Dabei ließ sich feststellen, dass Sounddesign gezielt genutzt wird, um akustische Räume zu gestalten, Stimmungen zu erzeugen und die Narration zu strukturieren. Besonders die Kombination aus Einzelgeräuschen, Atmos und Musik erwies sich als wesentliches Element zur Unterstützung der Hörspielinszenierung.}},

Diese Arbeit untersucht die Entwicklung und Evaluierung eines multisensorischen Kamera-Setups, das mit Gaussian Splatting eine speichereffiziente und schnelle Modellierung von Produktionsumgebungen ermöglicht. Dafür wurde ein mobiles, autonomes System auf Basis eines MiR-Roboters entwickelt, das Bilddaten von verschiedenen USB-Kameras (Lo-gitech Brio, Anker C200), einer DSLR und iPhone Kamera sowie Raspberry Pi Kameras er-fasst und verarbeitet. 
Die zentrale Forschungsfrage adressiert die Effizienz, Bildqualität und Wirtschaftlichkeit von Gaussian Splatting im Vergleich zu etablierten Verfahren wie Photogrammetrie und LiDAR. Erste Testläufe mit DSLR-Aufnahmen und einer manuell rekonstruierten Pipeline zeigen, dass Gaussian Splatting hochdetaillierte Punktwolken generieren kann, jedoch mit Herausfor-derungen hinsichtlich Kameraausrichtung, Überlappung der Bilder und automatisierter Missi-onsplanung des Roboters konfrontiert ist. 
Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das System eine schnelle und speichereffiziente 3D-Rekonstruk-tion ermöglicht, jedoch in seiner aktuellen Form noch Optimierungspotenzial aufweist. Be-sonders die genaue Kalibrierung der Kameras, eine verbesserte Synchronisation der Bilder so-wie eine präzisere Steuerung des Roboters sind entscheidend für die Qualität der Punktwol-ken. Während Gaussian Splatting eine überzeugende Alternative zu klassischen Verfahren darstellt, ist die Systemstabilität derzeit noch abhängig von manuellen Eingriffen und Justie-rungen. 
Zukünftige Arbeiten sollten sich darauf konzentrieren, die Automatisierung des gesamten Workflows weiter voranzutreiben, insbesondere durch den Einsatz verbesserter Kamera-A-lignment-Algorithmen, Hardware-Trigger für synchrone Bildaufnahme und Machine-Learn-ing-gestützte Bildoptimierung. Zudem könnte eine Erweiterung des Systems um zusätzliche Sensortechnologien wie Time-of-Flight-Sensoren oder LiDAR-Module helfen, die Detailge-nauigkeit weiter zu verbessern und eine robuste Echtzeit-Rekonstruktion zu ermöglichen. }},

Die Sonderausstellung „Respekt“ in Dortmund diente als Forschungsplattform. Durch die partizipative Einbeziehung von Menschen mit Seheinschränkungen wurde ein Forschungsdesign entwickelt, das spezifische Erkenntnisse über die Rolle der Lichtwahrnehmung und deren Bedeutung für die inklusive Gestaltung von Ausstellungsräumen generieren sollte.}},

  abstract     = {{A human digital twin (HDT) is a virtual representation of a worker in cyberspace. Nevertheless, current research focusses mainly on HDTs for motoric work types, such as assembly. To fully integrate an HDT for workers in production, it is necessary that an HDT also displays cognitive processes like memorizing, thinking or reasoning. Such a concept can be used in information-based work, for example monitoring highly automated production systems, and contribute to the planning and control of production. Due to the high proportion of planning and decision-making processes, the efficiency of information-based work is determined in particular by the inner processes of the worker. An HDT can therefore help to describe current and future states of socio-technical work systems. Therefore, this paper presents a systematic literature review to explicitly derive the relevant components of an HDT for information-based work types. The elements of such an HDT and its environment are defined. Further, the current gaps in literature are identified. There are currently no real-world applications of such an HDT. Additionally, the value of multi-HDT systems must be evaluated more extensively.}},

It is crucial to gain an in-depth understanding of the failure mechanisms and their interactions, as well as to systematically analyze the failure mechanisms of connectors, assess their state of health, and predict the probability of failure in the future. This work provides a comprehensive overview of degradation mechanisms in electrical connectors, including fretting corrosion, oxidation, delamination, wear through of the protective coating, stress relaxation and plastic deformation. It focuses on mechanisms that contribute to increased contact resistance over time and proposes a unified model to explain their interactions. The study introduces a structured methodology for assessing connector health by outlining key measurement techniques and presenting an efficient approach to failure and state analysis that minimizes both testing time and sample size. This methodology is supported by analyses of connectors from long-term life tests and field-used, field-tested vehicles. Additionally, the study explores new aspects of the state analysis for accelerated testing of connectors, supported by examples from field-tested vehicles and various test methods, to predict connectors lifetime and evaluate the effectiveness of existing testing approaches.}},

  abstract     = {{In a previous paper, the correlation between the wear resistance of coatings and the lifetime of electrical connectors under fretting load was discovered. Based on this knowledge, various modifications of silver-based coatings with markedly increased wear resistance have been developed, and a calculation model for predicting connector lifetime has been formulated. Investigations on silver-coated electrical contacts with increased wear resistance show extended lifetimes in fretting wear and fretting corrosion tests, and the calculation model with various modified coating materials can be validated. However, contacts with very high wear-resistant coatings fail earlier than the specific wear coefficient and the calculation model prediction suggest.
The in-depth investigation of the coating material and the wear scar revealed the reasons for this unexpectedly shorter lifetime. The high wear resistance of modified silver coatings is achieved by increased micro-hardness. Both coatings with coating materials of high hardness and high thickness can lead to longer lifetimes under fretting load. However, increased fretting cycles can also cause fatigue and electrical contacts can fail due to delamination of the surface coating caused by fretting fatigue, and this delamination can lead to a sudden exposure of the base material, thus enabling its corrosion.
Therefore, both wear resistance and fatigue resistance should be increased in order to achieve a long lifetime of electrical contacts under fretting load.}},

  abstract     = {{Roller compaction/dry granulation (RC/DG) is a key process in pharmaceutical manufacturing for improving powder flowability, density, and segregation resistance. Advanced statistical modeling was used to optimize RC/DG process parameters and subsequently binder compositions by employing process and mixture design experiments. The authors used microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), silicified MCC (SMCC), and dicalcium phosphate (DCP) as filler-binder examples in RC/DG experiments. Granule and tablet properties, including flowability, bulk and tapped densities, as well as resistance to crushing, were analyzed using compendial methods. The process design experiments confirmed that RC/DG reduces manufacturability compared to direct compression. Optimal processing conditions, balancing sufficient tablet strengths and granule formation, were identified to be between 20 (SCF * ϑ) [kN/cm] and ∼ 60 (SCF * ϑ) [kN/cm]. Thereby (ϑ) is defined as the screw-to-roll speed ratio and (SFC) as the specific compaction force. Mixture design experiments revealed optimal mixtures balancing SMCC, MCC, and DCP to achieve desired properties like low angle of repose, high bulk density, and strong tablets. These findings provide guidance for selecting formulations and process parameters in RC/DG applications. The derived ‘SCF * ϑ’- factor was found to effectively describe the granulation intensity. A superimposed mixture design model based on precise target values of the parameters bulk density, flow properties, and breaking force allowed identification of the best formulation.}},

Spracherkennung auf das Spielerlebnis und die Immersion in virtuellen Umgebungen. Dabei 
wird analysiert, inwiefern eine dynamische Interaktion zwischen Spieler und NPC zur 
emotionalen Bindung beiträgt und das Eintauchen in die Spielwelt verstärkt. 
Zur Untersuchung wurde ein VR-Spielprototyp („Ward13“) entwickelt, in dem Spieler durch 
Spracherkennung frei mit einem NPC interagieren können. Theoretische Grundlagen aus den 
Bereichen Spieleentwicklung, Künstliche Intelligenz, Virtual Reality und interaktive Narration 
bilden die Basis der Analyse. Die praktische Implementierung erfolgte mittels der Convai
Plattform in Unreal Engine, ergänzt durch Sentiment-Analyse zur Anpassung des NPC
Verhaltens. 
Die Arbeit zeigt zudem, wie KI-Integration auch für Entwickler ohne KI-Erfahrung umsetzbar 
ist. Dabei wird die Zugänglichkeit bestehender Tools sowie die Herausforderungen bei der

  abstract     = {{Solketal and oxymethylene ether (OME) are two promising blending candidates for regenerative fuels (e-fuels), which could contribute to a holistic solution to the energy crisis. In this study the thermo-oxidative aging of these two e-fuels in their pure form as well as in binary mixtures with different ratios (3:1, 1:1, and 1:3) (vol%) is investigated. Herein, the reaction networks of the thermo-oxidative aging process of both e-fuels and mixtures thereof is elucidated based on intermediates and decomposition products determined via GC-MS. Furthermore, changes of important fuel-specific parameters like kinematic viscosity and density as well as total acid number during aging have been determined. The 3:1 solketal:OME (vol%) mixture exhibits a higher stability to thermo-oxidative aging than the pure fuel components or mixtures with other ratios. The viscosity value of this mixture is within the DIN EN 590 norm after accelerated aging of 72 h (viscosity (72 h) = 4.25 mm(2)/s)) unlike other blends. The maximum value of the total acid number of this aged mixture reaches only similar to 29 % of the maximum value of aged pure OME and has the lowest value of all mixtures. Furthermore, the formation of a precipitate could be successfully suppressed in the 3:1 solketal:OME (vol%) mixture different from other mixtures. With these findings, this study contributes to the design of new sustainable fuels for the transport sector.}},

  abstract     = {{Forest succession alters soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics by changing litter quality of litter entering the soil and affecting microbial communities. However, few studies have explored how litter quality interacts with soil fungal communities to regulate SOC mineralization during successional changes in forest succession. We studied the relationship between litter quality, SOC mineralization, and associated fungal composition by conducting an in-situ decomposition experiment in a natural broadleaf forest and a pure Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) forest, where the succession in former forest arrested by structurally inferior bamboo grasses. On average, topsoil organic carbon mineralization increased by 73 % and subsoil by 233 % (only during autumn) following the broadleaf forest transitions to bamboo dominance. More decomposable litterfall in the bamboo forests increased the abundance of saprophytic fungi (e.g., Mortierellales and Chaetothyriales orders) and enhanced topsoil degradation functions, promoting SOC mineralization compared to the broadleaf forest. Higher water-soluble organic carbon content increased subsoil organic carbon mineralization by increasing the abundance of Mortierellales order. Our results emphasized the importance of interaction between litter quality and fungal composition (especially saprophytic fungi) regulated SOC mineralization in arrested succession. The enhanced SOC mineralization after the broadleaf forest transition to bamboo forest suggested that the traits of Moso bamboo, such as fast litterfall decomposition, can accelerate SOC mineralization to reinforce its dominance. By examining the role of microbial decomposition in regulating soil nutrient dynamics in the context of arrested succession, our study offered a unique mechanistic perspective on the belowground drivers of bamboo dominance, with important implications for forest structure and function.}},

  abstract     = {{Trophic interactions determine food web structure and influence biodiversity, community structure, ecosystem functioning, and food web responses to global change. These interactions are highly flexible, changing on temporal scales from diurnal to evolutionary times due to phenotypic plasticity, rapid evolution and species sorting. Small-scale experimental and theoretical studies of plankton interactions have demonstrated a high relevance of this flexibility for community dynamics and ecosystem processes in small, simplified communities. However, the extent to which this flexibility affects larger-scale systems, for example, global ocean dynamics and their responses to global change, is still poorly understood. Differences in methodology, focus and terminology between research disciplines limit our ability to project established effects of flexible trophic interactions onto larger spatial and temporal scales. We propose to bridge this gap with a general framework for upscaling knowledge from small-scale research to large-scale models. Building on examples from plankton communities, we use this framework to show how mechanisms demonstrated in small-scale studies can be linked to ecosystem functions relevant at large scales. We argue for incorporating flexibility in large-scale process-based models to improve their realism and predictive power, and discuss challenges and ways forward for achieving this. Finally, we suggest several concrete ways for upscaling small-scale studies to make their findings more relevant for large-scale research, to close existing knowledge gaps and to improve our understanding of how flexible trophic interactions affect dynamics and processes across scales.}},

  abstract     = {{Winter cover crops (CCs) provide substantial agronomic and environmental benefits, yet their influence on nitrogen (N) fertilization requirements and yield outcomes for subsequent crops remains underexplored. This study investigates the economic optimal nitrogen rates (EONRs) and corresponding yield effects for first (silage maize or sugar beet) and second (winter wheat) succeeding crops following CCs. Four CC species from different functional groups were compared to a bare fallow control on contrasting sandy and loamy soils across four German field sites over two consecutive cropping sequences. Results revealed opposing effects: reduced EONR and increased N use efficiency on sandy soils in silage maize sequences, particularly following oil radish and rye CCs, but increased EONR on loamy soils for sugar beet sequences, with vetch CC showing the most favourable outcomes. Yield impacts varied by CC type and soil, with oil radish consistently enhancing yields across sites. However, CC effects on EONR were not correlated with pre-winter N uptake in CC biomass, challenging simple N budgeting practices. Environmental analysis highlighted potential greenhouse gas savings via reduced fertilizer inputs on sandy soils but increased upstream emissions on loamy sites. These findings emphasize the need for site-specific CC selection to balance economic and environmental benefits, with oil radish and vetch emerging as optimal choices in our trials for sandy and loamy soils, respectively.}},

  abstract     = {{Lentic waters integrate atmosphere and catchment processes, and thus ultimately capture climate signals. However, studies of climate warming effects on lentic waters usually do not sufficiently account for a change in heat flux from the catchment through altered inflow temperature and discharge under climate change. This is particularly relevant for reservoirs, which are highly impacted by catchment hydrology and may be affected by upstream reservoirs or pre‐dams. This study explicitly quantified how the catchment and pre‐dams modify the thermal response of Rappbode Reservoir, Germany's largest drinking water reservoir system, to climate change. We established a catchment‐lake modeling chain in the main reservoir and its two pre‐dams utilizing the lake model GOTM, the catchment model mHM, and the stream temperature model Air2stream, forced by an ensemble of climate projections under RCP2.6 and 8.5 warming scenarios. Results exhibited a warming of 0.27/0.15°C decade<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> for the surface/bottom temperatures of the main reservoir, with approximately 8%/24% of this warming attributed to the catchment warming, respectively. The catchment warming amplified the deep water warming more than at the surface, contrary to the atmospheric warming effect, and advanced stratification by about 1 week, while having a minor impact on stratification intensity. On the other hand, pre‐dams reduced the inflow temperature into the main reservoir in spring, and consequently lowered the hypolimnetic temperature and postponed stratification onset. This shielded the main reservoir from climate warming, although overall the contribution of pre‐dams was minimal. Altogether, our study highlights the importance of catchment alterations and seasonality when projecting reservoir warming, and provides insights into catchment‐reservoir coupling under climate change.}},

  abstract     = {{One of the greatest challenges facing environmental science is to better understand the impacts of predicted future changes in the terrestrial hydrological cycle. It has been recognized that human activities play a key role and must therefore be considered in future climate simulations. The representation of anthropization in land surface schemes within global earth system models is at a relatively nascent stage and must be improved for more accurate future projections of water resources. The understanding of the impact of anthropogenic processes has been hampered by the lack of consistent and extensive observations. Here, we present the Land surface Interactions with the Atmosphere over the Iberian Semi-arid Environment (LIAISE) project field campaign which brought together ground-based (surface energy budget estimated at 7 sites, 269 radio soundings made at 2 sites and multiple remote sensing instruments for profiling the lower atmosphere), airborne measurements (3 airplanes and numerous drones measuring surface and atmospheric properties) and satellite data (to derive estimates of irrigation timing, soil moisture, evapotranspiration and surface temperature) to improve our understanding of key natural and anthropogenic land processes and boundary layer feedbacks. The study area is in the Ebro basin of northeastern Spain in a hot, dry Mediterranean climate, with a sharp demarcation between a vast intensively irrigated region and a much drier rainfed zone to the east. Analysis of the observations reveal strong surface heterogeneities of evapotranspiration within the irrigated zone (differences upwards of approximately 7 mm day-1 between fields), linked to the crop type, vegetation phenology and soil moisture, all of which were modulated by irrigation. The significant surface flux differences between the irrigated and rainfed zones were found to result in strongly contrasting atmospheric boundary layer properties (between 2 supersites​ separated by 14 km) extending upwards through the lowest several km of the atmosphere.}},

  abstract     = {{Sustainability in the food chain and the prevention of food losses is an issue of increasing importance. There is a large number of processing by-products where innovative strategies are helpful for transferring these losses into a consumable state. In a step-by-step approach, this current study focused on the sensory properties of blends of sunflower press cake and whey, fermented with different consortia of microorganisms and intended for being used as a basis for a savory spread. In the first part of the work, blends fermented with six co-cultures from lactic acid bacteria and yeasts were characterized by free choice profiling and quantitative descriptive analysis. The respective results were used to modify the formulation and to select the fermentation cultures that were promising from a sensory point of view. Subsequent investigations allowed reducing sample dimensionality further, and the study was concluded by affective hedonic tests and a check-all-that-apply set-up performed by consumers. The final experiment also comprised a just-about-right approach performed for specifically evaluating spreadability. The outcome of the entire study indicates that it is possible to tailor attractive foods from by-products, provided that the need for final optimizations regarding palatability is considered.}},

  abstract     = {{Carrot juice is valued for its high vitamin and antioxidant content, necessitating gentle thermal processing
to preserve these nutrients. Its slightly acidic pH value requires a two-step heating process, warranting
optimization to enhance product quality and resource efficiency. This study investigated the impact of
varying the first heating step between 100 and 130 °C on chemical, sensory, and microbiological parameters.
While other chemical parameters remained stable, lactic acid content increased significantly from 55 to 1405
mg/L over downtimes, highlighting the influence of external factors that could not be influenced within the
investigations. Lower heating temperatures compromised microbiological stability, with spore-forming
bacteria (5 colony forming units per 20 mL) detected at just a 10 °C reduction. Sensory quality showed
minimal change, with descriptive analysis identifying only 3 respectively 4 significantly different attributes
out of 19 across the factors experimental parameter setting and technical repetition. The quality of raw
materials had a more pronounced impact on sensory outcomes than the heating temperature. This study
concludes that adjusting the first heating temperature has limited benefits for sensory quality but risks
microbiological safety. Emphasis should therefore be placed on ensuring high-quality raw materials and
consistent raw juice properties to maintain product quality.}},

  abstract     = {{Poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (P3HB) is a promising alternative to persistent conventional plastics, capable of biodegrading within months. However, its microbial-driven degradation raises concerns about nutrient immobilization and impacts on plant growth. The biodegradation process occurs in multiple stages, during which shifts in the microbial community can alter soil properties and influence utilization of both intrinsic and polymer-derived organic matter. This study employs a novel approach to investigate how nutrient dynamics during the late stage of P3HB biodegradation affect lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. capitata cv. Brilliant) growth. Soil-to-sand mixtures (100_0, 80_20, 60_40, 40_60, 20_80, and 0_100 ratios) were spiked with P3HB, allowed to biodegrade for eight weeks, and then planted with sprouted lettuce seeds, which were cultivated for another eight weeks. P3HB addition inhibited plant growth and root development in all soil-sand mixtures. However, increasing the sand proportion enhanced plants' nitrogen content by 13-45 % compared to 100 % soil + P3HB. Depending on the sand-to-soil ratio, P3HB stimulated most enzymes involved in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus acquisition. Basal and substrate-induced respirations were 9-209 % higher under P3HB addition compared to P3HB-free soil, likely due to an increase in the stabilized soil organic matter fraction. Residual P3HB analysis revealed that diluting soil with 20 % sand accelerated biodegradation, despite a decrease in bacterial abundance. In the 80_20 variant, the microbial community shifted toward higher fungal abundance, 19 % more than in 100_0 soil. While microbial proliferation was observed, it effect was outweighed by negative impacts on dry aboveground and root biomass. The highest P3HB biodegradation rate occurred in the 80_20 variant, underscoring soil texture as a critical factor in P3HB biodegradation. While microbial communities can degrade bioplastics, this process may compromise plant nutrient availability and hinder plant growth. }},
