abstract = {{In recent years, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) has emerged as a promising technology for designing application-specific chatbots. RAG combines a Large Language Model (LLM) with application-specific information provided via a database. This opens up the possibility for companies to at least partially automate existing business processes using RAG. One use case relates to work preparation at a mechanical engineering company. Due to the high complexity of the products and the wide variety of variants, creating assembly instructions for individual assemblies and modules involves a considerable amount of administrative work. The use of RAG can help to significantly improve the efficiency of this process. However, a key challenge is to ensure high quality of automatically generated assembly instructions. While existing research has focused on feedback mechanisms for improving LLMs, the effectiveness of different prompt-based feedback types on RAG-generated technical documentation quality has not yet been sufficiently investigated. This article therefore explores how quality of assembly instructions can be improved by integrating feedback mechanisms into a RAG system. For this purpose, two different feedback mechanisms were used in a laboratory experiment. On the one hand, an exclusively quantitative feedback mechanism was used. On the other hand, quantitative and qualitative feedback were combined. The results demonstrate that feedback mechanisms contribute to improving quality of information in assembly instructions. In addition, it was found that exclusively quantitative feedback leads to similarly good results as more complex combined feedback.}},

Originaldesigns beizubehalten.

Purpose

Blockchain technology is widely discussed as an enabler of transparency, efficiency and trust in supply chain management (SCM). However, empirical evidence on which blockchain-related success dimensions translate into value perceptions remains limited. This study aims to examine how the perceived relevance of blockchain success dimensions relates to realized benefits and whether these benefits contribute to overall perceived blockchain value.
Design/methodology/approach

A quantitative survey of 41 companies with blockchain experience in SCM is conducted. Success dimensions are prioritized using best–worst scaling (MaxDiff). Relationships between perceived relevance, dimension-specific benefits and overall perceived value are analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Exploratory analyses assess company characteristics.
Findings

Contrary to dominant expectations in academic and practitioner narratives, even highly prioritized blockchain success dimensions fail to translate into measurable firm-level value perceptions. While transparency and traceability are associated with significant dimension-specific benefits, these improvements do not produce statistically significant direct or indirect effects on overall perceived blockchain value. This suggests that localized operational gains alone may be insufficient to generate overall perceived value and indicates that blockchain benefits may depend on broader organizational and technological complements.
Originality/value

The study moves beyond identifying potential blockchain benefits by empirically differentiating which success dimensions matter and which do not. By combining MaxDiff with PLS-SEM, it offers a structured, mechanism-oriented framework for evaluating blockchain success and highlights boundary conditions for value realization in SCM.

  abstract     = {{Introduction:

Heart transplantation (HTX), a treatment for end-stage heart failure, is accompanied by substantial psychological and physical strain for recipients. Many individuals develop Donor and Donation Images (DDI), referring to the thoughts and emotions directed toward the donor and/or the transplanted organ. The present study aims to systematically quantify the content dimensions of DDI and to explore their associations with psychological well-being and perceived organ acceptance.

Methods:

A total of 407 adult post-HTX patients participated in the survey. A self-developed questionnaire assessed 12 content categories of DDI, together with their perceived consequences. Descriptive analysis, gender comparisons, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were conducted to examine the underlying structure of DDI. Linear regressions and Spearman correlations were used in an exploratory manner to investigate statistical associations between DDI factors and psychological and emotional outcomes.

Results:

The analysis of 402 complete datasets yielded three content factors: Social, Sex/Age, and Identity, capturing different facets of DDI. Women were more likely than men to contemplate the donor’s gender, age, and personality traits. Regression analysis showed small but statistically significant associations between the Social factor and perceived changes in personality and behavior, as well as between the Social and Sex/Age factors and positive emotional consequences. Across all models, the explained variance was low. No meaningful associations were observed with organ acceptance.

Discussion:

This study represents the first quantitative attempt to structure the contents of DDI and to examine their psychological correlates in a large cohort of HTX recipients. While the observed associations were modest, the findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of how recipients engage cognitively and emotionally with their donor. The results underscore the need for further research, including instrument refinement and longitudinal designs, to better capture the complexity of DDI and their potential relevance for psychosocial care in transplantation.}},

  abstract     = {{Background
Muscle dysmorphia (MD) is characterized by an excessive concern of not being muscular enough. Sociocultural influences appear to play a central role in the internalization of muscular beauty ideals and the development of MD. No study has examined the potential mediating pathways from sociocultural pressure sources through internalized beauty standards to an algorithm-defined MD diagnosis in the general German population.
Methods
A cross-sectional survey was conducted among adults (≥ 18 years) in Germany via the Online Platform Prolific®. Participants completed standardized questionnaires assessing sociocultural influences and internalization of different beauty standards (SATAQ-4R) and a clinically algorithm-defined MD, operationalized using criteria by Pope et al. [4], following the approach described by Mitchison et al. [14]. Data were weighted to approximate representativeness for the German population across the key demographics age and gender.
Results
In the total sample, a binary logistic regression indicated that internalization of the beauty standards Thin/Low body fat, Muscularity, and General Attractiveness significantly predicted algorithm-defined MD, whereas sociocultural pressure sources such as Family, Peers, Significant Others, and Media were not significant. In linear regression models, Media pressures predicted all forms of internalization, while Peer pressure predicted only Muscularity internalization. Mediation analyses indicated that internalization, particularly internalization of ideals of Muscularity, significantly mediated the relationship between Media and Peer pressures and algorithm-defined MD. Gender-specific analyses also showed Muscularity internalization as the key mediator for both men and women. In men, internalization of General Attractiveness ideals additionally mediated the relationship between Media pressure and MD. In women, only Family had a significant effect on algorithm-defined MD, mediated via Muscularity Internalization.
Discussion
Our findings highlight that internalization, particularly of the Muscularity ideal, appears to be a core mechanism linking sociocultural pressures to algorithm-defined MD. These results provide empirical evidence that interventions for MD need to focus on modifying internalized appearance ideals, especially the Muscularity ideal, to reduce MD symptoms in both men and women, with additional attention to General Attractiveness internalization in men.}},

a design-research experiment that repositions the robot from a fabrication tool
to an active collaborator in spatial exploration. A turn-based assembly process
enables a human designer and a robotic arm to alternately place modular bricks
within a shared three-dimensional environment. Each move is evaluated through
computational rules—support, stability, and collision—and interpreted in real

establishes a reciprocal design dialogue: the human reads the robot’s action as
a spatial proposition, while the robot responds to the evolving structure.
Creative agency becomes distributed across human and machine, encouraging
reflection on intent and positioning robotic intelligence as a source of suggestion
rather than execution. By prioritizing responsiveness and interpretation over
efficiency, the research challenges conventional file-to-factory paradigms and

In this study, the structural and bioactive properties of sunflower protein isolate and its enzymatic hydrolysates were systematically investigated. The hydrolysates were fractionated using low-pressure preparative gradient chromatography (LP-PGC), and their antioxidant capacity, along with angiotensin-converting enzyme and dipeptidyl peptidase-IV inhibitory activities relevant to metabolic health, were assessed. Structural analyses via sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and scanning electron microscopy revealed significant alterations in molecular weight distribution and surface morphology after hydrolysis and fractionation, confirming the generation of low-molecular-weight peptides linked to improved bioactivity. The results demonstrated a clear fraction-dependent bioactivity profile. MTT-based cell viability analysis of HepG2 and Caco-2 cells indicates that the non-toxicity of the hydrolysates depends on both their concentration and the cell type.   abstract     = {{
In order to mitigate the negative effects of heavy rainfall events, natural water retention measures (NWRM)—such as hedges, erosion control strips, vegetated drainage channels, wooded strips, retention basins and ditch pockets—have gained renewed attention as an effective climate adaptation strategy. To identify potential areas for NWRM, this study applied and methodologically expanded an existing approach for identifying dominant runoff processes (DRPs) to an agricultural sub-catchment in the Weserbergland region of Germany. The DRP were determined using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and validated through field surveys. Potential areas for water retention within the same runoff process classes were identified for three defined objectives: improving infiltration, extending flow paths, and redirecting runoff to surrounding areas. Spatial differentiation was achieved using accumulated catchment area and overland flow distance. The watershed is predominantly characterized by surface runoff (Hortonian Overland Flow). Field validation confirmed the DRP classification for around two-thirds of the study area, with deviations occurring predominantly on arable land. Supplementing the DRP approach with a topographic analysis allowed for further differentiation, focusing on small, topographically defined sub-watersheds. The identified areas offer significant potential for interventions. Combined with supplementary data, analyses of the water network and the involvement of local stakeholders, the resulting potential map provides a solid basis for planning smaller-scale water retention measures.
}},

abstract = {{As automation is progressively more present in buildings, it is important to understand its impact on people’s experience of urban environments. This case study investigated how one automated shading system with motorized venetian blinds affects sound perception of the acoustic environment in the immediate outdoor surroundings of a university campus building in Detmold, Germany. Procedures of ISO 12913 series for soundscape research were followed to conduct acoustic measurements and derive psychoacoustic indicators. Additionally, soundwalks involving 41 participants and a laboratory study using immersive virtual reality (VR) with 34 participants were conducted to assess how individuals perceive the acoustic environment. The results show that the operation of automated blinds increases sound levels above reference thresholds at short distances, and has a consistent effect on the soundscape, shifting it from pleasant and calm to annoying and chaotic. These trends are notable in both on-site and laboratory data. Additionally, when participants evaluated the soundscape in direct visual connection with the operating façade shading system, they perceived the sounds to be less chaotic than when they were not seeing the façade. These findings highlight that automated buildings and façades are active sound sources capable of influencing environmental quality through acoustic and non-acoustic effects; therefore, their influence on the soundscape should be considered within performance assessments, smart/automation policy, and sustainability frameworks.}},

abstract = {{Deploying digital twins across the broader building stock is constrained by a key bottleneck: high-quality 3D content from LiDAR or photogrammetry remains labor-intensive and difficult to scale. We introduce Generative Twins (GT), a workflow that shifts digital twin creation from explicit geometric reconstruction toward probabilistic 3D synthesis. The pipeline takes a
single street-level façade photograph, corrects perspective distortion and removes occlusions, uses an instruction-conditioned multimodal image model to synthesise an isometric view of the building, and passes that view to an image-to-3D reconstruction model that leverages learned shape priors to produce a textured mesh without manual modelling. Three image to-3D platforms (Hitem3D, Hyper3D and Hunyuan3D 3.1) are compared on identical isometric inputs and assessed on architectural boundary clarity. We demonstrate GT through two applied cases: (i) reconstruction of ordinary residential streets in Detmold as stimuli for a virtual-reality study of multi sensory urban perception, and (ii) Green Editor, a design-exploration tool in which façade greenery is added or removed at the image layer before mesh generation.
Together these cases position Generative Twins as a scalable pathway for the digitization of ordinary building stock, with emphasis on controllability, editability, and iterative design workflows.}},

abstract = {{Climate change is leading to increased mortality in spruce-dominated forests in Central Europe. Noble fir (Abies procera Rehd.) and giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum (Lindl.) Buchholz) are characterised as climate-adaptive tree species. Therefore, the suitability of these wood species from the wood technology perspective is investigated. Defect-free specimens and lamellas are subjected to bending tests. Non-destructive tests (eigenfrequency measurements, visual grading) are performed and property influencing wood characteristics recorded. The results for the investigated species are lower than from comparative studies on spruce (30 – 59 %). Multivariate models generated using the parameters listed above to predict elasto-mechanical properties show very good model quality (adj. R² = 0.93 - 0.97), with exception of the giant sequoia lamella bending strength model (adj. R² = 0.30).}},

abstract = {{Gamification, defined as the use of game design elements in non-playful contexts, has been applied in several professional environments for over a decade. Yet, gamification remains rare in manufacturing, with research reporting ambivalent effects on both worker well-being and productivity. Despite growing evidence that gamification affects individuals differently, experimental studies examining these effects often rely on relatively small sample sizes. To address this research gap, this work presents first results from an ongoing laboratory study investigating the effects of gamification in a production-related task (currently N = 229). Thereby, participants completed an assembly task with an assistance system providing step-by-step instructions. The aim of the study is to (I) evaluate whether varying the game design elements (points, leaderboard and avatar) affect key performance indicators (task speed and error rate) differently as well as (II) to assess whether the effects on these performance indicators are moderated by factors such as individual characteristics or demographics. So far, the results indicate that points may reduce the task completion time, while not increasing the number of errors. By incorporating individual characteristics into the analysis, the study aims to provide first insights into heterogeneous responses to gamification and to identify which employees benefit most from specific game design elements in production settings.}},
