This paper reports on a cross-cultural user study, which analyzes the perception of concerns commonly associated with technology-enhanced environments. The results of the study show that the concerns addressed in state-of-the-art literature do only partially reflect the concerns of potential users. The analysis also shows that the perception is significantly influenced by several factors. Especially the participants' cultural background has a significant influence on the perception of most concerns.
