    Lecture content: Water chemistry, Drinking Water Ordinance, water cycle, water demand, water extraction, well types, well construction, yield, surface water, water protection zones, water quality, water treatment processes (sedimentation, precipitation, flocculation, filtration, oxidation, iron removal, manganese removal, deacidification, softening, activated carbon adsorption, disinfection processes), pump types, cavitation
     
  • Pipeline and sewer network planning (module 3405) ILIAS
    (compulsory module for Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Water Resources specialization), 5th semester: 2 lectures, 2 labs
    Lecture content: Fundamentals, planning, and construction of drainage systems (separate and combined sewer systems, pressure and vacuum drainage), sewer structures, site-specific selection of drainage methods, dynamic cost comparison calculations. Fundamentals of modeling techniques, acquisition of basic data, representation of a sewer network in a computer model, graphical processing of sewer network data as part of a design process with presentation of the network in a site plan and longitudinal section, sizing and verification calculations using a hydrodynamic sewer network model (model rainfall and long-term time series simulation), Plotting discharge and water level hydrographs, statistical analyses.

    Lecture content: Sludge treatment processes, sewage sludge (composition, load), options for sewage sludge disposal, Sewage Sludge Ordinance, wastewater engineering calculations for the components of a sludge treatment system (thickener, digesters, gas generation, gas storage), phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge, use of measurement, control, and regulation technology, process technologies for advanced wastewater treatment, 4th treatment stage for the elimination of micropollutants, water quality, Water Framework Directive, water pollution
     
  • Wastewater Treatment in Rural Areas (Module 3518) ILIAS

    Lecture content: Special requirements and techniques for decentralized water supply and wastewater disposal solutions, vacuum and pressure drainage, small-scale wastewater treatment plants, economic feasibility calculations (fundamentals, project examples), alternative sanitation concepts, etc.

    Lecture content: Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of rainwater management systems; Source-dependent quality of surface runoff; requirements for water and soil protection; integration of stormwater management into urban land-use planning; disconnection measures in existing infrastructure
