  • Start of the lecture period for students in the second semester and higher of our bachelor and master degree programs: 5 October 2020
  • Start of the lecture period for students in the first semester of our master degree programs: 12 October 2020
  • Start of the lecture period for students in the first semester of our bachelor degree programs: 2 November 2020

The end of the lecture period is expected to be 29 January 2021 for all students of the Department.

Immediately before and after the lecture periods mentioned above, the Department intends to organize the following examination periods:

  • Examination Period 4 of Year 2020: 21 September 2020 to 2 October 2020
  • Examination Period 1 of Year 2021: 1 February 2020 to 12 February 2020

Detailed information concerning the course scheduling can be expected to be published on this site from around mid-September, because the information required for planning on-campus events is expected to be available by then. In particular, for the first semester of the bachelor degree programs, we aim at a high proportion of on-campus events. In contrast, the proportion of on-campus events in the higher semesters of the bachelor degree programs and in the master degree programs is likely to concentrate on necessary lab courses and similar course formats. In order to be able to determine the exact number of participants and the participants as such for on-campus events of the higher bachelor semesters and the master degree programs, there will be a period for registration for these special on-campus events in September.

Due to the special planning conditions under COVID 19, all students are asked to inform themselves regularly on this website about the status of the course planning process and to check their university email account regularly, especially as of September 2020.

Course Planning for Winter Semester 2020/21

Information for Freshers of our Bachelor Degree Programs

For you, the lecture period starts on 2 November 2020.

You can already study a draft of the overall schedule for the first semester of your degree program. Due to the pandemic, however, it will be necessary to divide you into fixed groups before the start of the semester in order to maintain the necessary hygiene measures, especially for attending on-campus events, and to inform you of your personal plan by email. As soon as our preparations for your start have been completed, we will send this and other information to your university email address. Please check your university email account regularly from now on, so that you can stay up to date!

Information for Freshers of our Master Degree Programs

For you, the lecture period starts on 12 October 2020.

The schedule for the first semester of your degree program is available in draft. Based on your curriculum, compare which courses are relevant for you in the first semester and then use this detailed overview to see when and where your courses begin according to your lecturers and whether you may have to register for individual courses. This detailed overview is continuously updated by your lecturers. For this reason, we ask you to check this overview regularly so that you stay up to date!

Information for Bachelor and Master Students in Higher Semesters

For you, the lecture period starts on 5 October 2020.

The schedule for your particular semester is available in draft. Based on your curriculum, compare which courses are currently relevant for you and then use this detailed overview to see when and where your courses begin according to your lecturers and whether you may have to register for individual courses. This detailed overview is continuously updated by your lecturers. For this reason, we ask you to check this overview regularly so that you stay up to date!
During the creation of this schedule, care was taken to separate on-campus and online courses as much as possible. We were probably unable to separate these from each other completely, because depending on which compulsory elective courses you prefer, it is possible that online and on-campus events are scheduled next to each other. You should therefore find out in good time, both in the course schedule and in the detailed overview, in which form the courses or course elements (lecture, exercises, lab ...) will be carried out and decide what is feasible for you personally. At the same time, don't miss any registration deadlines that your lecturers may set in the detailed overview!

Dear students,

The planning process for the next examination periods is still in progress. Owing to the current situation, and in particular due to the hygiene measures to be observed and to the resulting spatial problems, the registration period and the announcement of examination dates are delayed. Currently we assume that as of the upcoming week, preliminary examination schedules will be avaiblable and registration will be possible.

Yours faithfully,
Thomas Schulte
