Programs for Pupils

Our programs for pupils aim at school classes and interested young people. In the Robot Club, interested pupils can preoccupy themselves with robotics in more depth. In our project “Lippe SmartHome”, they get familiar with connected home technology. Every year in autumn, the “IT’s OWL” School Camp offers its participants an opportunity to deepen their skills in the field of computer science.

zdi School Laboratory “Tech Lipp”

The zdi School Laboratory “Tech Lipp” is the school laboratory of the Department that is supervized by the Physics Section. It includes different event formats designed to introduce young people to the natural sciences and technology. The program includes a large program for school classes, but also exciting offers for young people who are interested in spending their spare time at our university.

Project Weeks

During project weeks, TH OWL is visited by classes from vocational colleges. In the laboratory “Real-Time Systems”, pupils learn what it means to advance a project in teamwork. In small groups, they deal with basic topics of computer science and get familiar with the software-associated programming of micro-controllers. At the end of the week, the results will be presented and discussed in the group.

“IT’s OWL” School Camp

The “IT’s OWL” School Camp is an offer of the Zentrum Lippe MINT Kreis Lippe (zdi NRW). The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of TH OWL is a partner of this school program. In the autumn holidays, pupils from grade 10 onwards can get familiar with intelligent technical systems and their effect on our everyday lives. The participants have an opportunity to get acquainted with different companies and to gain experiences in programming robots at TH OWL. The pupils spend the days at the university and are familiarized with the fundamentals of computer science at the inIT.

Taster Courses

The taster courses offer an opportunity to gain an insight into university life. This offer includes the attendance in lectures, informative events dealing with study-related matters of all kinds, and contacts with students. For one or several days, taster students have an opportunity to get an idea of university life.
