The master's degree program “Elektrotechnik” at TH OWL prepares students for demanding positions as specialists and managers in development and application-oriented research.
Based on scientific principles, this master's program qualifies the students in particular for a continuing academic career. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science deals with such seminal topics as the parallel operation of radio systems, hardware-in-the-loop simulations (HIL) and the development of optical transmission and sensor systems in photonics. The involvement of the students in research groups as well as learning contents from the areas of management and strategy qualify the graduates ideally for future management tasks. In order to facilitate future cooperation with international partners and teams, some of the lectures are in English.
Based on a fundamental understanding of basic engineering science, the graduates of this master's program can solve complex problems in research and development independently and on their own responsibility. The scientifically oriented education prepares in particular for a further academic career.
Due to the comprehensive teaching contents and the inclusion of topics from the fields of mechatronics, mechanical engineering or computer engineering, graduates are also able to fill key positions in interdisciplinary teams and decisively help to shape the increasingly important interfaces in technology.
The emphasis on team-oriented collaboration, the involvement of students in our research groups as well as learning content in the areas of management and strategy qualify the graduates ideally for future management tasks.
Electrical engineers are in demand at home and abroad - in various industrial sectors, such as power engineering, information technology, automotive and aerospace technology or automation technology
Fachhochschulreife/Allgemeine Hochschulreife [i.e. an entrance qualification for studies at universities of applied sciences or at universities] or an equivalent qualification.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Computer Science or another closely related field of study.
Evidence of a final German examination grade of 2.5 or better. If this overall grade is not achieved, the aptitude can be determined by the Admission Committee if the overall picture of the application meets the expectations of a technically successful study performance in this Master’s program. For this purpose, a personal interview with the Admission Committee takes place.
