The smartFoodTechnologyOWL partnership at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts harnesses the potential of digitalisation and Industry 4.0 technologies to connect previously separate individual systems in the food industry into integrated value and production chains.

Together with partners from industry, trade, commerce and other research institutions, we are creating an alliance for innovation in the areas of food production, quality, safety, distribution and sustainability at the Future Food Factory OWL. This is achieved by combining Industry 4.0 expertise and food technology know-how from the university and its partners. The aim is to establish a sustainable field of excellence on the topic of ‘Digitalisation and Industry 4.0 in the food industry’. This will provide innovation impetus in the region and beyond.

Our goals are:

To enable more sustainable and economical food production
To improve food safety and quality
To increase transparency for consumers
To strengthen the competitiveness of the food industry

smartFoodTechnologyOWL is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research through the ‘Research at Universities of Applied Sciences: FH-Impuls’ programme.
