Process chromatographic fractionation

Process chromatographic fractionation of side streams from food and agricultural production for the recovery of valuable materials
Goal: Against the background of the increasing scarcity of fossil raw materials, processes for the utilisation of side streams from food and agricultural production are becoming increasingly important. A large part of these by-products is thermally recycled for energy generation or used in the pet food sector. What remains unnoticed here is that technical processes such as chromatography exist that enable the recovery of valuable ingredients and biochemicals. The resulting secondary by-products can usually continue to be recycled in the usual way. Thus, a further "clean" market segment can be developed from the targeted material utilisation of the secondary streams. The aim of the BMBF-funded project is the process chromatographic extraction of valuable substances from side streams of the participating companies in the food and agricultural areas. In the first step, a screening is carried out with regard to possible substances contained and then an individually adapted strategy for analysis as well as fractionation and product processing of various substances is developed and tested for the respective company.
