Go abroad with Erasmus+

The ERASMUS + program countries scholarship program promotes study visits to partner universities in all EU member states and Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey.

Advantages of the Erasmus + program

An Erasmus + study visit offers students financial and administrative advantages:

  • No university fees at the host university (for studies, enrollment, exams, access to laboratories and libraries, etc.)

  • Payment of a mobility grant. The amount differs depending on the country, duration and academic year.

  • Possibility of applying for BAfoeG abroad and applying for a foreign scholarship from the TH OWL

  • Possibility of a leave of absence or exemption from contributions for the student body and the mobility contribution for the semester ticket

  • Academic recognition of academic achievements abroad

  • Support from the host institution regarding accommodation, cultural offers, etc.

  • Possibility of participating in a free, tutored online language course via Online Linguistic Support (OLS)

What funding do I get?

The monthly scholarship amount depends on the target country, as the funding rates are based on the respective cost of living. From the 2018 winter semester, uniform funding rates will apply across Europe. In the project year 2019 (winter semester 2019 and summer semester 2020) the following funding rates apply:

  • Group 1 (450 euros per month): Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom

  • Group 2 (monthly 390 euros): Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus

  • Group 3 (330 euros per month): Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, FYR Macedonia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary
Who can take part in the Erasmus program?
  • everyone who is enrolled at TH OWL in a course that leads to a recognized degree (visiting students cannot take part in ERASMUS +) Bachelor students can take part from the 3rd semester, Master students from the 1st semester

  • Planned study project at the host university: 3 to a maximum of 12 months

  • Sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction at the host university is required

Application process

The following application deadlines apply for a place at a partner university

For the following winter semester:

- March 1st for a partner university in the EU with an Erasmus + grant

- Reference value January 1st for a partner university overseas (longer planning phase required)

For the following summer semester:

- September 15th for a partner university in the EU with an Erasmus + grant

- Guide value July 1st for a partner university overseas (longer planning phase required)

Even after these dates, it is worth asking the International Office about remaining places.

Which documents do I have to submit?

You must submit the following documents to the International Office in full and on time

  • Application form (Erasmus only)
  • Application form partner university Übersee
  • Letter of motivation in English
  • CV in English
  • Certificate of enrollment
  • Transcript of Records
  • Proof of your language skills in the language of instruction
  • Portfolio (only department 1)

What's next?

After you have submitted your application documents to the International Office, we can nominate you at the host university. Only then will you be able to apply to most of the host universities. At the same time, you must also observe the application deadlines at the host universities.

We will inform you about the status of your application approx. 2-4 weeks after the application deadline. If there are more applications than places at a partner university and your application for your first choice has not been successful, we will discuss alternatives with you.

The application for an exchange place at an ERASMUS + partner university is also an application for funding from the ERASMUS + program.
