Exactly 71 students successfully completed the bachelor’s degree programs in Civil Engineering and Dual Civil Engineering. Another 22 received their master’s degrees in Infrastructure Management – Water and Traffic, as well as Structural Engineering and Digital Construction Processes.
Professor Dr. Jörg Felmeden presided over the ceremony. Professor Dr. Jan Visscher delivered the keynote address. Using illustrative experiments on fluid mechanics and the Magnus effect, he demonstrated how engineering explains physical phenomena and applies them to real-world situations. His message to the graduates was also meant to encourage them on their future paths: “Stay curious!”
Another highlight was the recognition of particularly outstanding coursework. Eight graduates with a final grade of 1.5 or better were honored. It was especially gratifying that women made up half of the honorees.
In its presentation, the faculty’s support association addressed future-oriented topics such as sustainable construction, modular construction methods, automation, and the use of artificial intelligence. It highlighted how the construction industry is changing and the responsibilities engineers are taking on in this context.
“BUbeats,” the new band of the Faculty of Construction and Environment, provided the musical accompaniment. At the reception that followed, graduates, lecturers, and guests took the opportunity to toast the successful completion of their studies and share memories.
With the words “Stay human and move things forward!” the faculty offered its graduates a message of encouragement for their future careers and lives.
