The campus tour, organized by the Research and Transfer Center (FTZ) at TH OWL, took guests through the university's central facilities: the main building, the Future Food Factory OWL, the InnovationSPIN, and also the SmartFactoryOWL.
The Finnish guests were particularly impressed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure, the laboratories, and the close integration of technology and various scientific disciplines. “I am very surprised at how many different disciplines are represented here and how they are all combined with modern technology, especially in robotics,” said student Henna Rikka Räsänen.
The accompanying teacher, Eelis Rissanen, was also enthusiastic about the sustainable approach at the university: “It was very interesting to learn how materials can be efficiently reused or recycled. I particularly admire the robotics system—it combines classic technology with modern processes, enabling reliable and faster production processes.”
The technical equipment and architectural design of the Innovation Campus were also well received by the guests: “The infrastructure is really impressive – at the same time, I also like the idea of small, quiet learning areas that allow students privacy and concentration,” added student Erik Kainvlainer.
The visit was part of a week-long Erasmus+ exchange program. During their stay, the Finnish students, who are focusing on environmental protection technology, are accompanying German students from the fields of information technology and electrical engineering during their project week. In addition to the campus visit, the week's program also includes a company tour in Lemgo and the collection and analysis of water samples.
