During a tour of the campus, Professor Krahl demonstrated how TH OWL integrates research, teaching, and technology transfer. Stops along the way included the SmartFactoryOWL and the Cybersecurity Training Lab. “I was impressed by how naturally people with different qualifications work together at TH OWL,” said Peter Schulze.
He was particularly interested in TH OWL’s connections within the higher education landscape and with society. Professor Krahl explained TH OWL’s collaboration within the Campus OWL higher education network as well as its diverse partnerships with scientific institutions and companies.
Using the “anno 1578” initiative as an example, he explained how the university fosters dialogue with the local community. The “Third Place,” initiated by the Institute for Science in Dialog in downtown Lemgo, creates a space for interaction and brings the university, citizens, and other stakeholders together in conversation.
“Open exchange with diverse partners is central to TH OWL’s identity. New contacts offer the opportunity to learn about different perspectives and explore shared interests,” said Professor Jürgen Krahl.
