Professor Krahl presented the university’s strategic direction and, amid summery weather, gave his guest a tour of the Innovation Campus Lemgo. The tour began at InnovationSPIN and continued to the observation deck of the main building. From there, the president explained the campus’s development, pointing out the university buildings and research and educational facilities, as well as notable landmarks in the city of Lemgo and its surroundings. In doing so, Krahl highlighted how closely research, teaching, and knowledge transfer at TH OWL are interconnected with business, science, and other institutions in the region.
“TH OWL made a very professional impression on me—with a clear focus on sustainability and practical problem-solving,” said Noch. He was impressed by the breadth of the teaching program, with its simultaneous focus on industrial clusters, as well as the close collaboration with local companies. “I found the campus approach particularly interesting, as it brings together academia, business, and other stakeholders such as the skilled trades, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the district, and local municipalities.”
Until now, there have been few points of contact between Westfalen Weser and TH OWL. The meeting served to discuss potential areas for collaboration.
Professor Krahl emphasizes the importance of personal exchange: “I was pleased that we were able to identify common interests. On this basis, collaborations can be developed where they offer real added value for both sides.”
Both sides intend to maintain contact and continue to explore potential avenues for collaboration.
“Innovation will be a key success factor for Westfalen Weser as part of our Strategy 2035. To achieve this, we need partnerships—including with universities,” Jürgen Noch emphasized in closing.
