The exchange focused on TH OWL’s research, teaching, and technology transfer activities, as well as shared prospects for closer collaboration. During a tour of the campus, the guests visited, among other things, the SmartFactoryOWL real-world laboratory. It exemplifies the university’s application-oriented research in the areas of digitalization, sustainability, and innovative production processes.
“My visit to TH OWL and the open discussion with President Professor Krahl left a lasting impression on me. In particular, the university’s strength in its ‘third mission’ and its commitment to securing STEM professionals demonstrate how closely science and the regional economy can work together,” says Dirk Dankelmann.
TH OWL’s research on post-fossil fuel propulsion concepts and energy transition also generated great interest. New technologies open up opportunities, but at the same time bring new risks and changing requirements for insurance coverage.
“This combination of scientific innovation and social responsibility aligns perfectly with our own commitment to sustainability. I look forward to continued collaboration with TH OWL and to working together to provide important impetus for the region and the insurance industry,” emphasizes Dankelmann.
TH OWL and Lippische are already collaborating in various formats. These include, among other things, the femaleFinance evening at anno 1578 and TH OWL’s participation in the cyber event organized by the Detmold Junior Chamber. Both partners aim to further strengthen the transfer of knowledge between the university and the business community and to jointly drive innovation, secure a skilled workforce, and promote sustainable development in Ostwestfalen-Lippe.
