University Information Days 2026: Experience degree programs, discover laboratories

On Wednesday, February 11, and Thursday, February 12, TH OWL hosted this year's University Information Days (HIT).

Numerous young people from schools between Löhne and Paderborn, Gütersloh and Blomberg, as well as from Bielefeld and, of course, Lemgo and Detmold took advantage of the opportunity to get to know everyday university life and find out about study options.

This year, TH OWL opted for an expanded concept: all participants were able to get a taste of two faculties and attend their workshops. This gave the students not only an overview of the course content, but also a practical insight into teaching and research.

The workshops took place in the university's laboratories and at SmartFactoryOWL, among other locations. There, participants experimented, built, programmed, and discussed topics closely related to current issues in technology, economics, health, and design. A student from Hanse-Berufskolleg Lemgo reported, "I hadn't had much contact with design before. I really enjoyed the workshop and it sparked a whole new interest in me."

A student from Gesamtschule Detmold was also particularly enthusiastic: "The workshop was really cool. We made our own gummy bears as medicine for children. In the process, I learned that there are often not enough suitable medicines available for children. It was really exciting!"

The positive feedback from participants shows that the 2026 University Information Days were a complete success. With the new workshop format, TH OWL was able to spark interest, provide deeper insights, and make study orientation tangible.
