Another topic of discussion was the recently completed structural reform at TH OWL, through which the university has strategically repositioned itself. The discussion was complemented by a tour of the Innovation Campus Lemgo. There, Professor Halfmann gained insights into TH OWL’s research and technology transfer projects, as well as its collaborations with companies.
“I received a very warm welcome and am impressed by TH OWL’s innovative spirit. The Lemgo campus is a striking example of how technology transfer can be structured in a forward-looking way to benefit academia, industry, and the region,” says Professor Halfmann.
She was particularly impressed by InnovationSPIN. “The combination of skilled trades, vocational training, and higher education is ideal, but challenging. In Lemgo, this has clearly been achieved successfully.”
In the field of security and resilience research, both universities see potential for future collaboration. “It was a very open and inspiring exchange. The fact that we were able to identify concrete points of connection already during our first conversation shows how well our universities complement each other on important future topics. We would like to build on that,” emphasizes Professor Krahl.
As a parting gift, Professor Halfmann was presented with a “Pickert.” However, there’s one thing above all that she’s taking back to Sankt Augustin: “I’m taking away many ideas for our university as well. And the satisfying feeling that there’s a great university in East Westphalia with which we’ll hopefully have many more connections in the future.”
