The 2026 LAFF International Prize, which supports young researchers in the field of protein-based food technology, was recently awarded to Madita Tönebön, a student in Food Technology at TH OWL, during the 21st Lemgo Food Law Conference.
Madita Tönebön, who comes from a family with a long tradition in meat processing, impressed the award jury with her curiosity, practical skills, and dedication—both in her degree program and in her social life.
The prize includes a two-week stay at Iowa State University (USA), which is intended to provide Tönebön with international experience and contacts.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, she plans to pursue a master’s degree with a focus on product development or quality management.
Professor Dr. Matthias Upmann, who presented the award, emphasized: “Ms. Tönebön’s determination and enthusiasm are exemplary. We are convinced that she will continue on her path with the same passion and look forward to accompanying her on her future professional and personal journey.”
