The audience consisted not only of students and staff from TH OWL, but also numerous other guests who cheerfully and enthusiastically joined in seven teams and answered the quiz questions.
The relaxed quiz night at "anno" on Mittelstraße consisted of three rounds with six questions each. A winning team was chosen in each round. Particularly challenging: cell phones had to remain on the table – AI tools and Google were taboo!
The questions ranged from general topics and cultural knowledge to local and university-related knowledge. For example, participants were asked when and where daylight saving time was first introduced, how much earlier the sun sets in winter, and how many elementary schools there are in Lemgo.
The second round focused entirely on Lemgo, while the third round featured a mix of questions about TH OWL, Computer Science, and binary numbers. At the end, there were small prizes and a crown for the winning team.
The quiz night impressively demonstrates how science, universities, and urban society can come into contact with each other. Puzzling, learning, and laughing together promotes exchange between citizens, students, and employees.
The regular quiz night is organized by the Institute for Science in Dialog at TH OWL. The aim is to communicate current research topics and information about the university and its degree programs in an accessible and entertaining way. As a "third place," "anno 1578" offers space for encounters and exchange.
