In this lecture, Professor Dr. Susanne Schwickert will speak on the topic "From the energy transition to the construction transition: Building without end."
Background: Since the oil crisis in the 1970s, at the latest, requirements for the structural design of buildings have been regularly tightened and specified in more detail. This is how standardization, and above all legislators, are responding to changing forecasts regarding energy reserves, climate impacts, and resource availability. After five decades in which the focus has increasingly been on reducing energy consumption and ultimately CO2 emissions, a transformation towards resource-conscious construction is currently taking place.
Developments are presented with their exemplary questions and solutions based on projects from iFE's construction-related research. Whether this raw material aspect will establish itself as an additional design and planning criterion for buildings or whether sustainable construction will undergo a complete paradigm shift remains to be seen.
Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for discussion with the speaker and the audience.

About the lecture series "GEMEINSAM NACHHALTIG" (Sustainable Together): The urgently needed transformation to a more sustainable way of life can only be achieved through a concerted effort by society as a whole.
