Studying at TH OWL means learning in small groups, personal contact with lecturers, and early involvement in application-oriented research. Students work on real projects, develop solutions for the challenges of tomorrow, and are thus ideally prepared for their career start.
Current rankings also demonstrate the appeal of the concept: in the StudyCheck Award 2025, TH OWL ranked second among the most popular universities in North Rhine-Westphalia and tenth in a nationwide comparison. In the renowned CHE university ranking, it scored highly in the areas of practical relevance, support, and international orientation—in almost 30 degree programs ranging from architecture and health technologies to virtual product development.
Creative, innovative, sustainable
The Creative Campus Detmold stands for design, architecture, civil engineering, and media. Students here benefit not only from interdisciplinary teaching and research, but also from the proximity to the KreativInstitut.OWL, where digital media production, music technology, and AI-based applications come together. Degree programs such as media production, interior design, and urban planning are practical, creative, and future-oriented.
The Innovation Campus Lemgo is all about digitalization, technology, and Industry 4.0. Here, young people study in close proximity to research institutions such as the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, SmartFactoryOWL, and the Science-to-Business Center CIIT (Centrum Industrial IT). With the Future Food Factory OWL, TH OWL also operates a unique real-world laboratory for sustainable and digitally controlled food production.
At the Sustainable Campus Höxter, the focus is on the environment, sustainability, and digitalization in agriculture. Study programs such as environmental engineering, precision farming, and landscape architecture combine technical expertise with ecological responsibility.
Important note: Future relocation of degree programs from the Höxter campus
The Sustainable Campus Höxter will remain one of the three locations of TH OWL. Enrollment in the degree programs offered there will still be possible for the 2025/2026 winter semester. In the future, these will be relocated to the Creative Campus Detmold or the Innovation Campus Lemgo. Planning for this is underway; a concrete schedule will be announced in the course of 2025.TH OWL will ensure that all students are informed several months in advance and can continue to study and complete their courses. TH OWL has a global network. International study programs, exchange programs, and research collaborations open up a wide range of opportunities for students, teachers, and researchers—far beyond the region.
