Recently, TH OWL once again hosted “HalbwissenAddieren,” this time at the Transfer Office in Höxter. Under the title “Blackboard or Tablet – How Will We Learn Tomorrow?”, experts from the education sector engaged in a panel discussion addressing the opportunities and challenges of digital education. The event was organized by a team from the TRiNNOVATION OWL project, the Institute for Science in Dialog, and the Research and Transfer Center (FTZ) at TH OWL.
Following a welcome address by TH OWL Vice President Professor Dr. Yvonne-Christin Knepper-Bartel, Lukas Portmann opened the event with a keynote presentation. Portmann, whose startup supports schools and teachers on their path to digitalization, reported on the current state of digitalization in schools and provided practical insights into digital solutions for the classroom. Digitalization initiatives at vocational colleges in the Höxter district were also presented, sparking a lively discussion.
Together with the audience, the experts engaged in an in-depth debate on the use of digital tools in the classroom, data protection issues, and the promotion of digital skills among students and teachers. The session not only offered exciting food for thought but also highlighted how important it is to exchange ideas about the future of learning in an increasingly tech-driven world.
The venue was also special this time: The Transfer Office is a retail space in downtown Höxter rented by TH OWL. The pilot project brings the university’s work even closer to citizens’ everyday lives and fosters dialogue with the community. The project runs through January and provides a space for events and discussions on current topics. The next event in the “HalbwissenAddieren” series is planned for early next year and will once again address a cross-cutting social issue.
