TH OWL strengthens networks with VDE: Professor Krini appointed as liaison professor

Representatives of the Association for Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Information Technology (VDE) recently visited TH OWL. As part of this exchange, Professor Dr. Abderrahim Krini was officially appointed as a VDE liaison professor.

Professor Abderrahim Krini was officially appointed as a VDE liaison professor during the VDE's visit to TH OWL.

"I am delighted to have been appointed VDE liaison professor," said Professor Krini. "In this role, I would like to provide targeted support to students, open up access to networks and industry partners for them, and work with the VDE to promote practical formats at TH OWL. The more people get involved, the more we can achieve."

The visit by the VDE team led by Ralf de la Haye (VDE Chairman) and Rosalia Virga (Head of VDE Young Net) served to get to know the university and discuss future areas of cooperation. "We are delighted to be here today. TH OWL is the first university in the Lippe region where we are appointing a VDE liaison lecturer," emphasizes de la Haye.

The delegation was particularly impressed by the university's practical teaching and transfer programs as well as its research activities. In addition, the strong commitment to early technical education was highlighted – including a specially equipped laboratory for schoolchildren at the Innovation Campus Lemgo.

Virga praised the university's commitment: "Having your own laboratory right on site at TH OWL is really great! The children have a permanent place where they can experience and learn about technology. This is exemplary work with young people!"

At the same time, she highlighted the offerings for students and the practical research and transfer fields: "From Industry 4.0 applications in the SmartFactoryOWL to the university's own electronics factory – here, theory, project work, and cooperation between the university, industry, and students are exemplarily interlinked."

Professor Dr. Rainer Rasche, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, then presented TH OWL and its current projects – including the innovative MONOCAB mobility concept and the university's participation in Gamescom 2024.

The exchange with the VDE once again demonstrated how valuable cooperation between science, young talent development, and technology networks is. With a wide range of offerings such as student laboratories and practice-oriented study projects, TH OWL provides impetus to inspire young people to take an interest in technology and to support them in the long term.
