Scientists of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow paid a visit to inIT

In mid-September, the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT) at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts once again welcomed two renowned scientists from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Professor Dr. Andrzej Ożadowicz and Dr. Jakub Grela, both from the Department of Power Electronics and Power Systems Automation in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering, spent a week at inIT exploring future opportunities for cooperation in research and teaching.

Exchange on research and industry projects

The AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, one of Poland's most renowned technical universities, is internationally known for its cutting-edge research. The research areas of Professor Dr. Andrzej Ożadowicz and Dr. Jakub Grela include, among others, building automation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities. The two were invited by Professor Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski, whose own research group at inIT focuses on digital transformation technologies. During their visit, they had intensive discussions about potential joint projects and research proposals.

‘We share many similar research interests and look forward to a promising collaboration in the coming years,’ emphasises Professor Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski.

Tour of the Innovation Campus Lemgo

During their stay, the two scientists were given a comprehensive insight into the state-of-the-art research environment of the Innovation Campus Lemgo, including the SmartFactoryOWL, the Future Food Factory, the Centrum Industrial IT (CIIT) and the InnovationSPIN. They were particularly impressed by the advanced infrastructure and the dynamic research atmosphere. The close interdisciplinary cooperation and short communication paths on the campus were highlighted.
‘The Innovation Campus Lemgo is an ideal place for exchanging ideas. The close connection between research and application is literally in the air here,’ said Dr Jakub Grela.

Future collaboration

The talks focused on future collaborations, particularly in the areas of intelligent building automation and energy efficiency. A doctoral student exchange is planned for as early as next year in order to further intensify scientific collaboration. ‘We look forward to tackling specific projects together soon,’ concluded Professor Dr Andrzej Ożadowicz.
