The (TH) OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts sees itself as a place where freedom of science, art, culture, and expression are upheld. The foundation of our community is the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany. It protects the dignity of every human being, individual freedom, and equal treatment for all.
By raising the flags together, TH OWL underscores its identity: diverse perspectives, experiences, and ways of life enrich our University. Scholarship thrives on the free exchange of ideas and respectful interaction with one another—even when opinions differ.
A culture of welcome and mutual respect form the foundation of our shared learning, research, and work.
Background: Following a decision by the Presidential Board, the rainbow flag is raised four times a year for one week at a time alongside the German flag, for example during the welcome events for first-year students or during Constitution Week in May.
