Welcome to the Industrial Engineering degree program!

Our Industrial Engineering degree program has been a model of success for over ten years! We combine technology with economics and continually incorporate new technological developments and social challenges into our teaching and research. The mission statement of our degree program is based on three concepts: "digital, sustainable, and innovative."

You can also study Industrial Engineering in large cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, or Munich. But what makes the degree program in Lemgo so special? First, excellent support: we start with around 50 students per year, rather than 500. We focus on small exercise and internship groups. Second, practical relevance: all of our lecturers come from the business world. We want to prepare you as well as possible for your professional career through simulation games, case studies, and internships. Thirdly, a unique profile: we offer you three specializations: production management, product management, and maintenance management.

Training and a degree program at the same time? - Yes, it's possible ...

The degree program is accredited as both a full-time and a dual degree program. As part of a dual study program, it is possible to complete practical work and even vocational training alongside your studies. The respective course of study is designed in such a way that Wednesdays are kept free of lectures so that students can gain practical experience in a company or complete vocational training at the same time as part of cooperation agreements. The faculty supports students and companies in the form of framework agreements.

In addition to teaching the necessary technical, business management, and organizational skills, the Industrial Engineering degree program also offers three specializations (VT). Students must choose two of the three specializations listed below. This choice allows you to delve deeper into the topics that interest you and specialize in your chosen field.

The dual study program allows you to acquire knowledge in the training company with selected practical modules. Therefore, the study plans in these modules vary.

Practical relevance and industry contact right from the start!

Practical phases in industrial companies are part of our study concept – both in the technical and business administration areas. In the Industrial Engineering degree program, this means a five-week internship in "business" and a five-week internship in "technology" by the end of the fourth semester.

We recommend that you contact our internship coordinator, Mr. Volker Siebrasse, before starting an internship. He can advise you and assess whether the internship you are aiming for meets our requirements. If you already have proven practical experience, he will check whether this can be recognized as an internship.

Further information about the internship

After submitting an application, you must complete matriculation.

First, you apply for a place at university. As the degree program does not have restricted admission, you will receive confirmation of your place immediately after completing the online application.

Once you have been accepted, you must formally complete the matriculation process for the degree program. The university will inform you of the necessary documents after you have completed your application. This way, you won't forget anything!

You've done it: you've found the right degree program for you and completed matriculation.

But what happens next?

At the beginning of the winter semester, your degree program will start with a welcome week, which begins with general information and becomes more and more specific to your degree program. We will show you the premises, the laboratories, how the timetable works, and who to ask if you need further information.

After this week, you will know exactly how things work here.

Digital. Sustainable. Innovative. These three terms characterize the mission statement of our Industrial Engineering degree program. For
industrial companies, digital means that work processes are increasingly software-based, operating resources are networked via Information Technology, and information is provided to employees in real time as needed. In the Industrial Engineering degree program, we address current developments in digitalization by, for example, introducing you to the latest developments in low-code programming or the use of assistance systems in production, and teaching you how business processes can be automated using robotic process automation software.
For industrial companies, sustainable management means using all resources responsibly and taking the interests of various stakeholders into account in their actions. Sustainable management leads to a balance between economic and ecological requirements. In the Industrial Engineering degree program, we focus in particular on how sustainability can be implemented in the design of factory and production systems.
For industrial companies, innovation means that their own markets can change as a result of novel business models or that the use of new manufacturing technologies can secure their own competitiveness. In the Industrial Engineering degree program, we therefore want to teach you, for example, how to develop innovative business models or how to evaluate and introduce new technologies, such as collaborative robots.
