Our degree program is a success: for many years now, we have been training engineers who not only work in local companies but also around the world.

As a society, we need to rethink our approach in order to prevent climate collapse. With renewable raw materials, intelligent designs, and state-of-the-art Digital Production Engineering, we are on the right track. We would be delighted to take you with us on this journey. Training and a degree program at the same time? - Yes, it's possible ...

The degree program is accredited as a full-time degree program. However, if you would like to combine your degree program with accompanying vocational training, we can develop a suitable model with you. Within the framework of cooperation agreements, you can gain practical experience in a company or complete vocational training at the same time. The faculty is happy to support students and companies in this regard in the form of framework agreements.

The Wood Technology degree program is broad in scope and imparts technical and organizational knowledge. To make it easier for you to specialize in a particular area, we offer three major (fields of study) in the main degree program, two of which you can combine.

• SP1: Furniture construction and development
• SP2: Wood Industry Production
• SP3: Wood construction production

Our degree programs are designed for on-campus learning. Classes are held Monday through Friday according to your schedule. This ensures that all your courses are offered without overlap.

However, we also offer extensive online support. Many courses are available online and provide you with the necessary materials to study at your own pace. This does not completely replace attending in-person classes, but it does help you complete your degree program on time while juggling a part-time job and childcare. Everyone has individual requirements and expectations for their degree program. Of course, it is not possible to include everything on a website, as this would be too confusing and detailed. That is why we offer academicadvising.

Practical relevance and industry contact right from the start!

Internships in industrial companies are part of our study concept! For the Wood Technology degree program, this means a 10-week specialized internship by the end of the fourth semester, or alternatively, equivalent training.

We recommend that you contact our internship coordinator, Prof. Katja Frühwald-König, before starting an internship. She can advise you and assess whether the internship you are aiming for meets our requirements. If you already have proven practical experience, she will check whether this can be recognized as an internship.

Further information about the internship

After submitting an application, you must complete matriculation.

First, you apply for a place at university. As the degree program does not have restricted admission, you will receive confirmation of your place immediately after completing the online application.

Once you have been accepted, you must formally complete the matriculation process for the degree program. The university will inform you of the necessary documents after you have completed your application. This way, you won't forget anything!

Matriculation is handled by the TH's Enrollment Office. Your contact person for the Wood Technology degree program is Ms. Mara Blanke. She will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about the matriculation process.

The complexity of true sustainability is best experienced in projects.

Doing rather than talking!

With wood, the most sustainable material, we are already very well positioned in this regard. Nevertheless, there is more to it than that. Who is familiar with the UN's 17 sustainability goals?

Broken down to our industry, the use of raw materials, energy and water consumption, production waste, recyclability, and other factors must be taken into account.

A wide variety of projects on this topic have been set up as part of the degree program, which we will report on briefly here.
