Examination schedules
Exam registration: Binding nature of registration periods and withdrawal deadlines for examinations, as
well as proof of examination registration
- The registration periods and, where applicable, withdrawal deadlines specified in the examination schedules are binding for online registration for examinations. Immediately after registering for an examination, please print out a paper copy of your examination registration and bring it with you to the examination as proof of your registration. You will not be allowed to take the examination without proof of registration! Registration or withdrawal outside the registration period at the FB7 Examination Office (in person, by telephone, or by email) is generally not possible. Registration takes place via the university's KIS portal.
- Exceptions to this rule will only be granted by the chair of the examination board upon written, justified, and documented application (e.g., in the case of documented hospitalization during the entire registration period). If you are not yet eligible to take exams for higher semesters during the registration period ("blocked semester" due to missing examination / examination results from the first stage of your studies) but become eligible after the end of the registration period and before the start of the exams, this is NOT a reason for subsequent exam registration.
- If online exam registration is not possible for technical reasons, please contact Ms. Rudolph from the FB7 Examination Office in person during the official registration period by email, fax, or telephone. Subsequent exam registration due to alleged (unreported) technical problems is not possible. "Group registration" by individual students is not possible.
- Withdrawal from examinations during the examination period due to illness (i.e., if a doctor's note is submitted in a timely manner) remains unaffected by this.
Examination procedure and schedule
- Please arrive on time for the examination. If written examinations are held in several rooms at the same time, please arrive at the examination room assigned to you according to the notices at least 20 minutes before the start of the examination. For written examinations that are not held in several rooms, arriving approximately 10 minutes before the start of the examination is sufficient. Take the seat assigned to you in the examination room.
- To verify your identity, you must bring official photo ID (identity card or passport), your CampusCard (KISWOL), and a printout of your examination registration to the examination. Without these, you will not be able to take the examination! Students who are not registered and cannot prove their identity or registration will NOT be allowed to take the examination.
- Approximately 10 minutes before the written examination begins, this official written examination cover sheet will be distributed to all examinees with instructions on how to take the written examination, which you must fill out and sign. Please read this written examination cover sheet for your information while preparing for the written examination. The written examination will only be handed out upon return of the completed and signed written examination cover sheet.
Application for a special exam
- In accordance with the Examination Regulations, each examination is offered once per semester; separate examinations outside of this examination schedule are not possible. Exceptions to this rule can only be approved by the Examination Board in individual cases upon submission of a written application with justification to the chair of the Examination Board. The following may be considered valid reasons for an exception:
- Students in special situations in accordance with §15a BPO HLPBW or §16 MPO HT, §16 MPO PEM, §12 MPO PUM
- In the following case (points (1) to (3) must be fulfilled simultaneously), a special examination may be approved (however, there is no entitlement to approval!):
(1) This is your last module examination, apart from your thesis and colloquium.
(2) The Thesis has been registered and the submission date has already been communicated to you by the Examination Office.
(3) The next regular examination for the outstanding module takes place more than 8 weeks after the official submission date of your Thesis.
If not all points (1) to (3) apply to you at the same time, an application for a special examination is futile.
Progress regulations for SPO 2019
- The following admission requirements (progress regulations) apply to module examinations in modules of the third semester and above at the time of examination registration:
1. Admission to the module examinations of the 3rd semester requires a credit record of 30 CPs.
2. For admission to the module examinations of the 4th semester, proof of successful completion of the modules Technical Mathematics 1 and Technical Mechanics 1 is required. A total of 50 CPs is required.
3. Admission to the module examinations in the 5th semester requires proof of successful completion of the modules Technical Mathematics 1 and Technical Mathematics 2 as well as Technical Mechanics 1 and Technical Mechanics 2. A total of 80 CPs must be earned.
Exceptions to the progress regulations are only possible in exceptional cases for students in special family situations (§ 15 SPO), for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses (§ 16 SPO), and for students transferring to higher semesters as part of disadvantage compensation. If you have any questions, please contact the chair of the examination board, Prof. K. Frühwald-König, by email (katja.fruehwald@th-owl.de) or during office hours. - For students enrolled in the Bachelor's program in Innovative Production Systems, the progress regulations for the compulsory elective modules
7341 BWAR Business and Labor
Law, 7365 BMVH Machine and Fixture Construction,
7325 BPRS Production Systems, and

Wood Technology degree program
Students enrolled in the Wood Technology degree program are required to complete a 20-week practical semester in their fifth semester in accordance with the applicable revised version of the BA Examination Regulations dated April 7, 2022.
According to the Examination Regulations, the practical semester is intended to introduce students to professional activities through specific tasks and practical work in companies in the wood industry or other professional institutions, such as manufacturing companies in the wood and furniture industry, the supply industry, or woodworking machine construction, as well as research institutes, testing laboratories, or public authorities. In particular, it should serve to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the degree program to date and to reflect on and evaluate the experience gained during practical work.
The admission requirements for the practical semester are regulated in § 16 (3) SPO 2019. Since the application for admission to the compulsory practical semester in Wood Technology (which takes place in the 5th semester) must be submitted during the 4th semester, the admission requirements for the 4th semester apply to the compulsory practical semester in Wood Technology:
Passing the modules Technical Mathematics 1 and Technical Mechanics 1 and a performance record of 50 CPs.
Digital Engineering, Innovative Production Systems, and Industrial Engineering degree programs
The optional practical semesters in the bachelor's degree programs in Digital Engineering, Innovative Production Systems, and Industrial Engineering are usually completed starting in the fourth semester.
According to the current revision of the BA Examination Regulations dated April 7, 2022, the practical semester is intended to introduce students to professional activities through specific tasks and practical work in companies. In particular, it should serve to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the degree program and to reflect on and evaluate the experience gained during practical work.
Students who wish to complete an optional practical semester are admitted upon application. The regulations governing admission requirements for the practical semester are set out in § 16 (3) SPO 2019. Since the application for admission to the optional practical semester in Innovative Production Systems, Industrial Engineering, and Digital Engineering (which takes place in the 5th semester) must be submitted during the 4th semester, the admission requirements for the 4th semester apply to the optional practical semester:
Passing the modules Technical Mathematics 1 and Technical Mechanics 1 and a performance record of 50 CPs.
Procedure
Searching for and finding a suitable practical semester position, including the application and conclusion of a contract with a suitable professional institution, are the responsibilities of the students and are part of this special training section in the bachelor's degree program in Wood Technology at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (contract in three identical copies). All companies or institutions whose main focus area relates to the job-specific teaching content of the Wood Technology degree program and which can guarantee appropriate supervision of students are eligible to offer practical semester positions. During the practical
semester, students are also individually supervised by a professor from the Faculty of Production Engineering and Wood Technology. The suitability of the practical semester placement in the professional institution, the tasks and the work schedule must be confirmed by the university doctoral/academic supervisor and approved by the Examination Board upon application (application in single copy).
Successful participation in the practical semester is confirmed by the doctoral/academic supervisor if, taking into account the certificate from the training institution and a report to be prepared by the student, it can be determined that the student has performed the assigned tasks satisfactorily and was deployed appropriately during the practical semester. Students must also give a short presentation on the main areas of activity and the experiences gained during the practical semester. This final presentation event usually takes place in the third week of the summer semester and will be announced in good time.
Application/contract
Wood Technology:
- Application for admission to the practical semester
- Application for admission to an internship semester at the degree course Wood Technology
- Agreement on a practical semester
- Agreement on an internship semester at the degree course Wood Technology
Dig.-Ing., IPS, and Wirt.-Ing.:
Internship semester report
You should immediately prepare a practical semester report on the results you have achieved during the practical semester, in which you describe in particular the practical work, projects carried out, and your reflections on the experience you have gained. The report must be at least 10 and no more than 15 pages of text (e.g., Arial font size 11, 1.5 line spacing), plus any drawings and photographs necessary for understanding (maximum 20 pages in total). Your report must be submitted in printed form (stapled or in a folder) and digitally (PDF) to your doctoral/academic supervisor by the day of the practical semester presentation at the latest. You must also send the practical semester report to your doctoral/academic supervisor at the professional institution by this deadline.
Contents of the practical semester report:
- Introduction to the practical semester
- Brief description of the professional practice institution with the most important key data, e.g., products, services, employees, turnover, markets, etc.
- Presentation of your department(s) and your tasks during the practical semester
- Activity report divided into:
- Description of the responsibility/main project
- Goal
- Solution
- Concrete presentation of results
- Conclusion/final considerations
On a separate page, which is not submitted to the vocational training institution:
- Personal impression of the company/work placement, work, colleagues, atmosphere
- Summary: Was it interesting? What did you learn? What are the particular results and successes of your work? (Feel free to include photographs, illustrations, organizational charts, etc.!)
If there are any company secrets, leave them out!
Form of the practical semester report:
- Cover sheet with date, name, student ID, doctoral/academic supervisor
- Table of contents
(A list of figures and/or tables is not necessary. However, numbered tables and captions are required). As already
mentioned, submit a printed copy (stapled or in a folder) and an electronic copy as a PDF.
It's not quantity that counts, but quality! The internship semester report is good practice for your bachelor's thesis. So put some effort into it...
Practical semester presentation
To follow up on the practical semester, you (6th semester students) should present the main areas of activity and the experiences gained during the practical semester to the university community. As part of this event, future practical semester students have the opportunity to find out about the content and suitability of the practical semester positions they have attended. The short presentation should also serve as a preliminary exercise for creating the final presentation of your bachelor's thesis.
Your presentation should be 5 minutes long, i.e., exactly 5 slides!
Which slides should you prepare? Here is a suggestion:
- Title slide with topic, name, and content of the presentation
- Presentation of the professional institution (products, services, etc.)
- My responsibilities during the practical semester
- My results and successes
- The corporate culture/personal experiences
Don't just read out dry minutes of your working days. Tell us something that interests us!
The seminar on Wood Technology (BSMH) is a full-fledged module in the Wood Technology degree program, which focuses on acquiring key competencies in the areas of self-organization, learning, and scientific work in parallel with technical training. Another goal is to continuously prepare students for their Thesis. Successful participation earns 5 credits. The workload of the BSMH module is distributed throughout the entire course of study in the form of toolboxes (with the exception of the practical semester). Up to three tool events are scheduled each semester. Participation in all toolboxes is mandatory in order to receive the 5 credits. Passing the module is determined by participation in all toolboxes, participation in three events of Tool 13, and presentation of the bachelor's thesis as part of Tool 13. The toolboxes are embedded in the course of study as follows:
1st semester:
- 1 Learning to learn
- 2 Introduction to general literature research
- 3 Descriptive data analysis
2nd semester:
- 4 Time and self-management
- 5 Writing workshop
3rd semester
- 6 Idea generation / creativity techniques
- 7 Planning and conducting experiments
- 8 Presentation and design
4th semester:
- 9 Writing papers with Word
- 10 Statistical analysis methods
6th semester:
- 11 Subject-specific literature research
- 12 Academic writing
7th semester (accompanying the bachelor's thesis):
- 13 a, 13 b, 13 c Academic writing
Specifically: Seminar on Industrial Engineering (regularly in the 5th semester)
In the seminars on Industrial Engineering, compositions are used as a form of examination. Since the exam begins with the announcement of the topic, the official exam registration takes place at the beginning of the semester (i.e., end of September/beginning of October or end of March/beginning of April), usually before, during, or immediately after the exam period following the lecture-free period. At the time of this exam registration, all modules from semesters 1 to 3 must have been passed. Exceptions to this rule are not possible, as the fourth semester is only intended for "catching up" on outstanding written examinations from semesters 1 to 3. If you are still in the blocking semester at the time of exam registration for the seminar, you will write the composition in the following semester (provided you have no outstanding written examinations in semesters 1 to 3). The compositions are offered every semester.
Have you almost finished your degree and just need to complete your thesis? Congratulations—you’ve already come a long way! We’ve compiled the necessary information and forms for your thesis. If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
Procedure
If you have completed your studies to the point where you are ready to write your thesis, please proceed as follows:
- Find a thesis topic and a supervisor. Many companies offer thesis topics that you are welcome to apply for. Before accepting an offer, however, you must find a faculty member from FB7 whose expertise aligns with your field to serve as your primary advisor. Their approval is essential. Faculty members in the department also assign thesis topics; feel free to inquire with the respective instructors. Second examiners are generally agreed upon with the primary examiner. Please note the required qualifications for examiners: The second examiner of a bachelor’s thesis must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or a comparable higher qualification (e.g., Dipl.-Ing.(FH), Dipl.-Ing., university diploma, master’s degree, doctorate). The second examiner of a master’s thesis must hold at least a master’s degree or a comparable higher qualification (e.g., university diploma, doctorate). Therefore, please provide the full details of your examiners’ highest qualifications in your application. If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact the chair of the examination committee.
- However, the topic is (formally) determined in all cases by the TH, not by the company.
- Admission to the thesis is applied for using the appropriate forms (Application for Admission to theThesis, Application Form for the Master’s Thesis in Production Engineering and Management), which must be submitted via email to the Examination Office after entering the thesis title, the date the topic was assigned (from which the processing period begins), and the signatures of both you and your primary advisor (Bachelor’s: martina.rudolph@th-owl.de, Master’s: jana.schulz@th-owl.de).
Important: Check the KIS portal to ensure your personal information is correct: last name, first name(s), date of birth, place of birth, address, etc. This information must be accurate because your degree documents are based on these details! - After your thesis has been approved, you will receive a copy of the application back, indicating the binding submission deadline for your thesis. (Under no circumstances may this deadline be missed; otherwise, the thesis will be considered failed!)
- Complete your thesis in consultation with your advisor. The “Declaration of Integrity” for theses is an integral part of your thesis; please include it as “Page 2” in your thesis.
- Submission of the thesis must be completed (by the deadline) in two steps:
1. Via email (with a PDF of the thesis attached) to the following recipients:
- Primary supervisor
- Secondary supervisor
- Registrar’s Office (Bachelor’s: martina.rudolph@th-owl.de, Master’s: jana.schulz@th-owl.de)
2. One bound copy each for the primary and secondary advisors, to be submitted in person to the FB7 Registrar’s Office by the deadline, or deposited in the main mailbox of TH-OWL (main building, entrance on the cafeteria side between the two doors) by the deadline, or mailed to TH-OWL, FB7 Registrar’s Office, Campusallee 12, 32657 Lemgo. The postmark date applies. The two (printed) copies must be submitted to the Examination Office, not directly to your thesis advisor. - Please coordinate a date for the colloquium with your primary examiner and notify the Examination Office briefly via email (Bachelor’s: martina.rudolph@th-owl.de, Master’s: jana.schulz@th-owl.de). Please discuss the colloquium procedure directly with your thesis advisor.
- After the colloquium, the examiners will notify the Examinations Office of the grades for the thesis and the colloquium and submit the minutes and evaluation forms.
- The Examination Office prepares the final documents.
- Receipt of these documents requires that all outstanding obligations have been cleared. Please use the available form to have the clearance of any outstanding obligations confirmed (preferably via email) and send the form to the Registrar’s Office via email.
- You can receive your degree documents either in person at the Registrar’s Office by appointment or by mail. Please coordinate this with the Registrar’s Office via email.
- Withdrawal from enrollment. (Please submit your application for withdrawal from enrollment yourself via the KIS portal)
Classification certificate
Legally binding details regarding the classification certificate can be found in the currently valid Examination Regulations and are not cited separately below. The following information is a non-legally binding explanation.
The classification certificate states in which degree program and in which semester you could begin your degree program, provided you have a place. This depends on the examinations / examination results you have already taken in relation to your desired degree program.
You can apply for the classification certificate for FB7 degree programs informally at:
- Ms. Rudolph (if you have completed your previous examinations / examination results in a degree program of FB7 at TH OWL)
martina.rudolph@th-owl.de
or
- Ms. Jana Schulz (if you have completed your previous examinations / examination results in other faculties at TH OWL or other universities)
jana.schulz@th-owl.de
You must request the classification certificate within the application deadlines (by January 15 for the summer semester, by July 15 for the winter semester) and submit the following documents:
- if you have completed your previous examinations / examination results in a degree program of FB7 at TH OWL:
informal application by email to Ms. Rudolph, stating your full name, the planned degree program, and your previous student ID. - If you have completed your previous examinations / examination results in other faculties at TH OWL or other universities:
either submit a certified copy or the original during office hours or send it by mail, providing your contact details, including a contact email address, and stating that you would like a classification certificate for degree program x:
- Certificate of graduation from the other university, if available
- Transcript of records from the Examination Office of your previous university with the names of the courses and ECTS credits (with stamp and signature)
The classification certificate will then be sent directly to the Enrollment Office and you will receive an email with information about the classification.
Please note: the classification certificate does not say anything about the eligibility for recognition of the individual examination / examination results you have completed so far. Information on the recognition of examination / examination results from other degree programs or other universities (which only takes place after your successful matriculation!) can be found below.
Recognition of examination results
Legally binding details on the recognition of examination / examination results in other degree programs or from other universities can be found in the currently valid Examination Regulations and are not cited separately below. The following information is a legally non-binding explanation.
Distinction between the recognition of examination / examination results in:
- Examination / examination results from a degree program of FB7 at TH OWL in a second degree program of FB7 with identical module or examination numbers
- Examination results from other degree programs, other faculties at TH OWL, or other universities with different module or examination numbers
Re (1) Recognition of examination / examination results from a degree program of FB7 at TH OWL in a second degree program of FB7 with identical modules or examination numbers
The recognition of examination / examination results from a degree program of FB7 at TH OWL in a second degree program of FB7 with identical module or examination numbers should take place automatically in the system. Please check this and report any discrepancies or ambiguities to the FB7 Examination Office (Ms. Rudolph).
Please note that all exam attempts in this module (i.e., including all failed attempts in this module from the "first degree") will automatically be deducted from the "new" exam attempt account!
Re (2) Recognition of examination / examination results from other degree programs, other faculties at TH OWL, or other universities with different modules or examination numbers
Modules are eligible for recognition if they are equivalent to the examination / examination results they are intended to replace in terms of level (university of applied sciences, college, university), scope (at least 5 ECTS) and module content. If the Lemgo module to be replaced is graded, the external result/s must also be graded. Examination results can only be recognized once within a degree program.
The recognition procedure for external examination results only takes place after matriculation in a degree program at FB7 and only upon application with the relevant supporting documents from the student. The following must be submitted to the Examination Board exclusively by email to jana.schulz@th-owl.de:
- pre-filled application form,
- Examination Regulations of the former degree program in question,
- transcript of records, interim transcript, or comparable document (which must show the ECTS credits and grades for the individual modules),
- the respective module description(s) of the external module(s) to be recognized and the corresponding module(s) of FB7.
Recognition of missing 30 credits in the master's degree program for a six-semester bachelor's degree
The Master's program in Production and Management (SPO 2024) requires a Bachelor's degree with seven semesters (210 credits). Admission and matriculation with a bachelor's degree of at least six semesters (180 credits) is possible, but the missing 30 ECTS must then be earned during the master's program and proven before submitting an application for admission to the master's thesis. The master's program is then extended to four semesters accordingly.
The additional results can be earned through a practical semester, additional examination results, or relevant professional experience:
- 20-week practical semester:
The requirements and process for a practical semester are the same as for an optional practical semester in your previous bachelor's program. Information on this can be found in the Student Services section under the keyword "Practical Semester."
- Proof of additional modules worth 30 credits:
The additional examinations must not have been part of your completed bachelor's degree program, or at least not in a similar form, and must not be attended as selected modules of your master's degree program anyway.
Modules from the main focus area of your completed bachelor's degree program, modules from another bachelor's degree program of FB7, modules not selected from the current master's degree program, modules from another master's degree program of FB7, bachelor's or master's modules from other faculties or from other domestic or foreign universities are generally suitable. The modules must represent a subject-related addition to your planned master's program. Modules in other faculties can only be taken within the framework of the regulations for additional modules (§25 General Part of the Master's Examination Regulations, §27 MPO PuM, §33 MPO HT). Please note that these regulations for additional modules must be observed!
The modules must be discussed with the Master's program director before completion (and approved by the program director and the chair of the examination board). To apply, please fill out the appropriate form and make an appointment with the program director (to discuss the modules and obtain a signature). Then submit the form signed by the program director to the FB7 Examination Office (Ms. Schulz) and participate in the courses and examinations. For examinations outside your master's program, online registration for the examinations is not possible. In this case, please contact the FB7 Examination Office (Ms. Schulz: jana.schulz@th-owl.de) in person or by email during the registration period. After passing the examinations, submit the transcript of grades for the additional examination results to the FB7 Examination Office.
- Recognition of relevant professional experience:
The professional activity (which in individual cases may also include activities as a working student or dual student) must
- be relevant to your bachelor's or master's degree program and meet at least the requirements for a corresponding bachelor's practical semester,
- have taken place after your bachelor's degree or after the fourth semester of your bachelor's program, and
- be at least 20 weeks full-time (with at least 35 hours per week) (including 2 weeks of statutory vacation). Part-time work may be possible in exceptional cases and in individual cases if the employment rate is at least 50% (i.e., at least 17.5 hours per week). The number of weeks is then extended in line with the number of hours per week (the practical semester must comprise at least 630 hours worked in the company AND at least 18 weeks – excluding vacation and sick leave). Weeks or hours in weeks with less than 17.5 hours of working time cannot be taken into account in the calculation! For part-time work, a weekly list with the respective number of hours (e.g., timesheets from the company, certificate from the human resources department) must therefore be submitted, showing how many hours were worked in each week.
- If you are always with the same company, your professional activity can also be "split" (i.e., always full-time during the lecture-free period).
- The time spent at the company must not have been taken into account in the calculation of credits for the bachelor's degree (e.g., in dual bachelor's degree programs) and must not include the time spent on the bachelor's thesis at the company.
A written application for recognition must be submitted to the chair of the examination board using the form (submitted by email to the FB7 Examination Office at jana.schulz@th-owl.de), and a certificate from the employer must be enclosed (stating the duration and content of the professional activity, including the number of hours per week and whether the employee has performed the professional activities at least satisfactorily).

An essential component of the master's program is the specialization in scientific working methods and approaches. The laboratories of FB7 are competent partners for a wide variety of issues. Research and development projects are carried out as part of larger research projects, on behalf of industry, or on the university's own initiative, and master's students are actively involved in these projects.
During the mandatory scientific internship,
- students specialize in scientific work skills
- apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their degree program to date, and
- reflect on and evaluate the experience gained during practical work
by working on selected issues, e.g., from a larger research project.
The scientific internship is completed in one of the laboratories of the Faculty of Production Engineering and Wood Technology at the (TH) OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts either in the summer or winter semester (workload approx. 210 hours, old wood technology study plan: 150 hours) and is supervised by the respective professor. The scientific work to be carried out (e.g., in the form of experiments) can be performed in the laboratories of the University of Applied Sciences, or, in the case of cooperation with other scientific institutions or research departments of companies with suitable facilities, also outside the university (the latter upon special application). Successful completion of the scientific internship earns 7 credits (old study plan for wood technology: 5 credits), and the scientific internship is graded.
The Examination Board decides on admission to the scientific internship, the approval of the corresponding internship places, and the appointment of the doctoral/academic supervisor. The Examination Board may delegate these responsibilities to a member of the professorial staff of the relevant faculty. In cases of doubt and in the event of appeals, the Examination Board shall decide.
Successful participation in the scientific internship is confirmed by the supervising professor if, taking into account the assessment of the direct scientific doctoral/academic supervisor (e.g., in an external laboratory) and a report to be written by the student in German or English, that the student has satisfactorily completed the assigned work during the scientific internship, has been appropriately employed, and has actively participated in the evaluation event. Active participation includes, in particular, a presentation on the scientific internship in German or English.
The research internship must be completed within one semester. Before the start of the research internship, an application for admission must be submitted using the appropriate form.
As part of the compulsory module "Scientific Project Work," students specialize in scientific work skills, apply the knowledge and abilities they have acquired during their degree program to date, and reflect on and evaluate the experience they have gained in practical work by addressing selected issues, e.g., from a larger research project.
The module consists of seminar units spread over the summer semester and scientific projects carried out individually in collaboration with the scientific teams and in the laboratories of FB7. The scientific project work must be completed within one semester. Projects are assigned during a kick-off event at the beginning of the summer semester (for the re-examinations at the beginning of the winter semester). The workload is approximately 12 hours of contact time for the seminars accompanying the semester and 138 hours for working on the project task in the laboratory, including project documentation. Topic suggestions and supervision are provided by a professor from FB7. The scientific work to be carried out (e.g., in the form of experiments) must be performed in the laboratories of TH OWL. only in very justified exceptional cases (e.g., because special and necessary experimental equipment is not available at TH OWL in the case of a joint project) can the laboratory work be carried out in cooperation with other scientific institutions or research facilities (however, only upon special application by students and FB7 doctoral/academic supervisors to the chair of the examination board with appropriate justification). The Examination Board decides on admission to the topic for the project work in a FB7 laboratory and on the appointment of the doctoral/academic supervisor. Before the start of the scientific internship, an application for admission must be submitted using the appropriate form.
Successful participation in the scientific project work is confirmed by the doctoral/academic supervisor if he or she has determined, taking into account the assessment of a report to be written by the student in German or English, that the student has satisfactorily completed the assigned work during the scientific project work and has actively participated in the central evaluation event. Active participation includes, in particular, a presentation on the scientific internship in German or English. Successful completion of the scientific project work earns 5 credits, and the scientific project work is graded.
