Admission requirements according to examination regulations

The examination regulations set out the relevant admission requirements for the master's degree program:

§ 3 Study requirements, barriers to admission

(1) The prerequisite for admission to the degree program is

a) proof of a bachelor's or diploma degree, or in exceptional cases proof of another final examination, in a degree program in the field of Wood Technology or wood management with a standard period of study of at least seven semesters (210 credits). In exceptional cases, proof of a bachelor's or diploma examination or other final examination in another seven-semester degree program (210 credits) that covers a significant proportion of comparable content to the aforementioned degree programs may also be accepted, or

b)

  • aa) proof of a bachelor's degree, diploma examination or, in exceptional cases, other final examination in a degree program in the field of Wood Technology or wood management with a standard period of study of at least six semesters (180 credits) and
  • bb) proof of additional results/s amounting to 30 credits in accordance with subsections 3 and 4. Furthermore, it is assumed that basic English language skills have been acquired during the course of study to date.

(2) The Examination Board shall decide whether the requirements set out in subsection 1 have been met.

(3) The Examination Board shall decide on the additional results/s pursuant to subsection 1 b) bb) after hearing the applicant. The additional results/s shall be determined by official notification. The requirements to be fulfilled may be defined as the practical semester or examination / examination results of the bachelor's degree programs in accordance with the current version of the degree handbook for Wood Technology, Innovative Production Systems, Industrial Engineering, and Digital Engineering. Professional activities that are at least equivalent to a practical semester of the completed bachelor's program in accordance with the current version of the degree handbook may be credited as a practical semester; For the assessment of credit, a certificate from the employer must be submitted, stating the duration and content of the professional activity and whether the employee has performed the professional activities at least satisfactorily. Admission to examinations is governed by the provisions of the general section of the Master's examination regulations of the (TH) OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Failed examination results may be repeated twice. In all other respects, the regulations for the Bachelor's programs in accordance with the relevant Examination Regulations in their current version apply accordingly to the examinations / examination results. The additional results and the number of credits earned as a result can be included in the certificate of the passed Master's examination upon application; however, they are not taken into account when determining the final grade and the total number of credits. The application for inclusion of the additional results in the certificate must be submitted at the latest with the application for admission to the master's thesis in accordance with § 18.

(4) In the case of subsection 1 b), the additional results/s must be proven at the latest with the application for admission to the master's thesis.

(5) Applicants who did not obtain their higher education entrance qualification and their first degree at a German-speaking institution must provide proof of their knowledge of the German language for admission to the degree program, as evidenced by one of the following three tests, with the minimum score specified in each case:

  • Certificate of the Test of German as a Foreign Language (TestDaF) with a minimum grade of 4 in all four sections (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral expression, written expression)
  • Certificate of the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH) with level 2
  • Goethe Certificate (according to the European Framework of Reference) with level C1.

30 additional credits through practical semester

Various BA degree programs conclude with 180 credits, which means that 30 additional credits may be required to obtain a place on a master's program. These credits can be earned during a preliminary practical semester during the master's program or through additional modules.
