The examination regulations set out the relevant admission requirements for the master's degree program:
§ 3 Study requirements, barriers to admission
(1) The prerequisite for admission to the degree program is:
- proof of a bachelor's or diploma degree in a degree program in the field of Industrial Engineering at TH OWL, in particular in the degree programs Wood Technology, Innovative Production Systems, Industrial Engineering, or Digital Engineering, with a standard period of study of at least six semesters. In exceptional cases, proof of a bachelor's or diploma degree in another degree program lasting at least six semesters, which covers a significant proportion of comparable content to the aforementioned degree programs, may also be accepted.
- In addition, proof of an overall final grade of 3.0 or better in the degree program completed in accordance with No. 1 and
- proof of English language skills, as evidenced by the "First Certificate in English – FCE" (corresponds to level B 2 of the Common European Framework of Reference) or equivalent proof.
(2) The Teaching Committee shall decide on the fulfillment of the requirements set out in subsection 1, No. 1, clause 2.

Various BA degree programs conclude with 180 credits, which means that 30 additional credits may be required to obtain a place in a master's degree program. These credits can be earned during a preceding practical semester.
