Research and Knowledge Transfer
TH OWL is one of Germany’s leading universities of applied sciences in terms of research and is committed to active knowledge transfer. Our culture of innovation is results- and application-oriented. This means that we conduct research in collaborative projects with companies, thereby strengthening the innovative capacity of our partners and the region. In doing so, we focus on establishing a distinctive profile in strategic research fields.
We view people coming together in a creative environment as the foundation for original approaches to research. TH OWL provides the framework for this: a well-developed research infrastructure, optimal support for doctoral studies and start-ups, and an established network spanning business, science, society, and culture. All these threads converge at our Research and Transfer Center (FTZ).
Research and Transfer Center (FTZ)
The Research and Transfer Center (FTZ) supports researchers at TH OWL through agile research management: We assist with processes related to project development and grant applications for national and international projects, the administration of externally funded projects, performance metric management for the research sector, contract management—particularly regarding cooperation agreements, patents, and intellectual property rights—as well as technology and knowledge transfer.
As a research-intensive university, TH OWL aims to provide targeted support for early-career researchers. The Graduate Center.OWL, an internal university support facility for doctoral candidates, is affiliated with the FTZ and works in close cooperation with the Doctoral School for applied Research in NRW.
