Research - Search and export

The first time you access the ELSA university publication server, you will land on the start page. There is a search field in the middle of the page which you can use to start a free search. A hit list or the option of free browsing in various categories (e.g. sorted by author or project) will display numerous data records. You can filter these in various ways. More on this in the following sections.

Free search

You can enter various search terms using the free search on the homepage of the repository. Among others you can use the following search criteria:

  • keywords that occur throughout the data set (e.g. title, abstract, journal title)
  • academic departmentsl
  • laboratories
  • study programs
  • year dates (such as 2013-2018)
  • authors

Good to know: Multiple search terms are automatically linked with the AND operator. Further use of Boolean operators (OR, NOT) or truncations (*, ?) is not possible.

Browsing in ELSA

If you do not wish to carry out a specific search, you can browse to get an initial overview of the publications, authors, projects or departments listed.

Analyze hits

Various filter options are available on the right-hand side. The "Filter publications" section can be used to sort the hit list according to the following formal criteria:

  • publication type
  • publishing year
  • oa full texts
  • external publications
  • popular science

Export

It is possible to export a hit list (e.g. with reference management software). The following export formats are available:

  • RTF
  • BibTeX
  • RIS
  • JSON
  • YAML
