Group and work rooms

University members can find rooms for learning and working together in many places on campus. Depending on the target group, these rooms are equipped differently and can be booked by different groups of people.

The following sections explain where to find the rooms, how to use them, and what special features they offer.

Meeting rooms

General information

At all three TH OWL locations, we offer meeting rooms in the libraries that are equipped with modern video conferencing technology. These rooms can be booked and used by all members of the university.

Here's how booking works: The booking is done simply by adding the room to the attendee list of an appointment in a calendar application (for example, Outlook or Webmail). Further information on room booking can be found in the instructions below.

In order to make the rooms available to as many members of the university as possible, we have drawn up a few booking rules. We would also like to ask you not to make any unnecessarily long bookings and to cancel bookings that you cannot make.

Our general conditions for bookings:

  • Please also book rooms that you want to use spontaneously so that the occupancy is visible to other members of the university. Bookings have priority over unbooked reservations.
  • If rooms are not occupied 30 minutes after the start of the booking, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.
  • Repetitions are allowed, e. g. weekly recurring appointments or several days in a row.
  • Lead time: Dates may not be more than 180 days in the future.
  • Maximum duration of an appointment: 24h, please note the opening hours of the respective location.
  • Appointments are automatically accepted or rejected.

Individual workstations

At all three locations, we offer individual workstations in the libraries. These can be used by students, staff and external parties to study or browse through the offered journals. Each workstation has a light, a power outlet and a blind. A reservation is not necessary and not possible. The individual workstations can be used during the university's opening hours.

Learning rooms of the learning centre

General information

The Learning Centre at S(kim) offers learning rooms at all three TH OWL locations. On the one hand, these are venues for events offered by the learning centre, but on the other hand, the rooms can also be used by students for independent learning. Whether alone or in groups - the furniture and equipment can be used flexibly, and materials such as whiteboards and pens are available.

You can contact the tutors of the learning rooms via the e-mail address lernzentrum@th-owl.de.

In the following sections you will find brief profiles of the learning centres. Further information can be found in our documentation on the learning centre: Learning centre documentation.

Shared desk workstations

Shared desk workstations, i.e. workstations that can be used by different groups of people, are currently being created at various locations at the TH OWL.

Most of these shared desk workstations are not or are not yet accessible to the university public.

Only in the Innovation Spin are 15 shared desk workstations available for all university members when it opens. You can find out how to use these in our instructions:  S(kim) documentation shared desk workstations
