Setting up the user certificate in Mozilla Firefox
The user certificate must be installed in the web browser in order to gain access to exam registration with the web browser. The following explains how to install the user certificate:
As Mozilla Firefox has its own certificate management separate from the operating system, the following certificate setup must always be carried out, regardless of whether the eduroam wireless network ("Funknetzwerk eduroam") has already been set up on the device.
If you do not yet have a user certificate at this point, the following link will tell you how to obtain one: Obtaining user certificate ("Beschaffung des Hochschulzertifikats")
- Open the settings in the Mozilla Firefox web browser and go to the "Privacy & Security" section. Here you will find the item "Certificates" at the bottom. If you cannot find this section immediately (macOS, MS Windows), simply enter "certificate" in the search box.
- In the Certificates section, click on "Show certificates"
- Select the "Your certificates" tab and click on "Import
- Then select your user certificate in the file selection dialogue that appears and then click on "Open"
- In the following dialogue, you must confirm your protected university certificate by entering your user access password. Please enter your password. If you have any questions about your password, you will find information in the following documentation: Identity Management (Benutzerzugang)
- You will receive confirmation of the successful import.
- Check that the certificate has been installed correctly by calling up the following URL: https://secure.th-owl.de
- If an error message appears, there is still a problem.
- If the text "Connected with a valid certificate! Connected with a valid certificate!" appears, the certificate has been installed correctly in the web browser.
