University archive
The TH OWL is one of the first universities of applied sciences in NRW to set up its own university archive. This means that we at S(kim) are not only documenting the history of the university on a permanent basis, but are also the central point of contact for all questions relating to the storage of documents.
Historical archive

The historical archive is the "memory" of the university. This is where we keep documents that contain valuable information about the university and its students, lecturers and staff for the long term. This benefits not only researchers, but also the university itself and its members:
- Central information about the university and the departments remains available in the long term
- The material, such as photos or posters, can be used for marketing purposes
- Legal claims of the university remain verifiable
- Lost documents of former university members can be replaced, e.g. degree certificates or proof of periods of study
- The documents can be found quickly thanks to the central consolidation and recording
The University Archive identifies and accepts documents worthy of archiving, records them in a database, stores them professionally and makes them available for use in accordance with legal requirements.

General information
Running an archive is not an end in itself. Here you can view documents and obtain information, whether for academic, personal or genealogical reasons. If certificates or other documents have been lost, we can issue copies as long as the originals are in the university archive. It is also possible to use for example photos for publications.
As the archive is still under construction, we are not yet able to offer a comprehensive usage service. In particular, it is not yet possible to carry out extensive research. However, we will answer your individual request as best we can. Please feel free to contact us!
