Semester Ticket

General

Das "Deutschlandsemesterticket" wird es nicht mehr in Papierform geben, sondern in einer App des Verkehrsverbundes genutzt. Wie Sie diese installieren und dann das Ticket integrieren können, erfahren Sie in den folgenden Schritten.

1. Download the app

The "owlMobil" app  is the basic requirement for usage of the Deutschlandsemesterticket. Students install it on their mobile device and use it to manage the ticket. The app is available here:

• Link to the  Google Play Store (Android)
• Link to the Apple-Store (Apple iOS)

2. Registration

After starting the app for the first time, users must first register. Users who are already registered can of course use their existing account.

The following data is requested during registration:

• Login data:
  •  Email address - preferably enter your student email address here
  • Password - think of a secure password for the app. This is not the password from your university user account.
•     Personal data:
  • Please enter your first name, surname and date of birth here. Please make sure you spell them correctly here.

3. Create Account

After entering the data, you must agree to the following conditions in order to use the ticket:

• Terms of use of the OWLmobil app
• Tariff conditions of the WestfalenTarif
• Data protection provisions of the OWLmobilApp

You are free to decide whether you want your e-mail address to be passed on for the purpose of market research.

Finally, click on "Konto erstellen" ("Create Account").

4. Confirmation E-Mail

After you have created an account, an e-mail will be sent to the address you provided during registration. Follow the link in the e-mail and enter your address details:

• Street and house number, postcode and place of residence.

You then specify a personal question and a personal answer. You can access this if you ever lose your access data. Think of a question that only you can answer with certainty.

Finish by clicking on "Zum nächsten Schritt" ("Go to next step").

5. Payment modalities

You can now purchase the Deutschlandsemesterticket if you select “Continue without payment method” at this point.

If you would still like to specify a payment method, for example to use the app for other purposes, you have the following options:

•  "Bankverbindung hinzufügen" ("Add bank details"): Issue a SEPA direct debit mandate from your bank account. You will find the required information on your bank account or your bank statement.
• "Kreditkarte" ("Credit card"): Enter your credit card details. The ticket shop accepts VISA, mastercard and American Express.
• Paypal: Set up a payment option via Paypal.

Once you have installed the app and created an account, you now need to purchase the Deutschlandsemesterticket in the app.

1. Choose Ticket

Go to the "Ticket direkt kaufen" ("buy tickets directly") section. Under the "Deutschlandticket" section, you will be offered both the conventional Deutschlandticket and the Deutschlandsemesterticket.

Select the Deutsclandesemesterticket and you will then be shown details of the ticket in the right-hand section of the app. A note will inform you that proof of eligibility is required. Click on the "Hier" ("here") highlighted in blue in the text to provide this (see screenshot above).

Good to know: If you are not offered the Deutschlandsemesterticket, you will need to update the app. Please do this via the App Store or Play Store.

2. Proof of authorisation

After you have called up the page for proof of authorisation, you will be asked how you would like to provide proof. TH OWL students simply click on "University login".

• Select "Technische Hochschule OWL" from the following menu
• After being redirected to the TH OWL login window, log in with your university access (user name and password) and your second factor
• You will now be granted authorisation
• Click on the "In den Warenkorb" ("Add to shopping basket") button in the "Ticket details" area
•  Complete this process with "Jetzt kaufen" ("Buy now")
• The ticket is available in the app under "Meine Tickets" ("My tickets")
