Cybercriminals are usually very active in the run-up to holidays. That’s why we at S(kim) will be taking numerous steps during the Easter season to protect your data. But we also need your help to ensure we don’t face any unpleasant surprises after Easter:
We ask you to do three things:
- Please turn off all devices (computers, printers, other network devices) before you leave for the holiday break. This not only serves IT security but also supports sustainability.
- If you haven’t already, please take the time to complete the online IT security training (SecAware). This training was recently expanded to include the topics of malware and AI. You can find the link to the online training below.
- Please be especially careful when handling emails in the coming days. The period around holidays is a peak time for spam, phishing, and viruses. You can also find tips on how to handle these properly in the online IT security training.
The following services will be subject to restrictions:
(Effective from Friday, April 3, 12:00 a.m. to Tuesday, April 7, 6:00 a.m.)
- The eduroam and Conference&Guests wireless networks will be disabled.
- No communication with the Internet is possible from the university network; external sites cannot be accessed. (The central services listed below are not external sites.)
- The user portal (IDM) is accessible only within the university network, i.e., via the university dial-in.
There are NO restrictions on the following services:
- Central services, such as the eCampus learning platform (ILIAS), the KIS portal, the browser-based email client Webmail, the websites (frontend), and the TYPO3 editorial area (backend) will remain accessible.
- Sending and receiving emails remains possible. Restrictions apply only to users of certain protocols, who are generally aware of this (see the news link below).
