For a long time, Apple smartphones and tablets were considered to be relatively well protected against cyberattacks. However, recent reports from industry publications show that even these devices—especially those running older operating system versions—can be vulnerable. Recently, attackers have been successful using the “Coruna” and “Dark Sword” exploit kits. In some cases, simply visiting a compromised website was enough to compromise a device.
Apple has responded promptly and addressed the identified vulnerabilities through security updates. Nevertheless, installing these updates is the responsibility of the users themselves.
We therefore recommend that all users—not just those of Apple devices—regularly check whether their device’s operating system is up to date and install available updates promptly.
