Starting your degree at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Welcome to the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, dear first semester students!

To ensure that all new students have a good start to the first semester, a central first semester welcome will take place on September 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Lemgo. If you have any individual accessibility requirements, please contact our Inclusion Office at TH OWL in advance at inklusionsbuero@th-owl.de.
First semester party 2025 – The legendary start to your studies!
It's finally here: the new semester is starting, and with it the biggest party of the year! Whether you're a freshman or a senior, on October 21, 2025, we'll be celebrating the start of an unforgettable time at OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts together in Lemgo.
All the info at a glance
Pre-party: from 5 p.m. at the Büchse (AStA event space in Lemgo) . The perfect opportunity to warm up, chill out, and make your first contacts.
Main party: from 9:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Contact Arena Lemgo. Here we will celebrate the start of your studies with all the students from our locations, and the party will go on until 3:00 a.m.
What to expect
- A mega party atmosphere with two stages, DJs (mainstream, techno, electro) and a light show
- Students from all three TH OWL locations – Lemgo, Detmold and Höxter
- Bull rodeo action: show how long you can hold on and enjoy the ultimate fun factor
Drinks, food and everything you need for a legendary night
Awareness team
To ensure that everyone feels comfortable, an awareness team will be on duty at the party. This team is always there for you if you feel uncomfortable, need support, or just want someone to talk to. Don't hesitate to approach the team members. You can find us at two locations in the arena: on the upper floor (near the bar) and in the basement (near the cloakroom).
Tickets & advance sales
Advance sales will begin in calendar week 40 at all locations. You can find out exactly where and when on Instagram from our student councils and AStA at the respective locations. Secure your ticket early before the party sells out!
Why should you attend?
The freshman party is the best opportunity to celebrate the start of your studies. Not only will you get to know your fellow students, but also people from other locations. Enjoy the opportunity to switch between our two stages, the Electro-Techno Stage and our Mainstream Stage, where there is something for everyone.
So grab your fellow students, secure your ticket, and join us as we kick off the semester together!

Important note
Participation in the first semester party is reserved for members of OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Please be sure to bring your valid OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts ID card—no admission without ID!
Important note: Future relocation of degree programs from the Höxter campus
The Sustainable Campus Höxter will remain one of the three locations of the TH OWL. Enrollment in the degree programs offered there will still be possible for the 2025/2026 winter semester. In the future, these will be relocated to the Creative Campus Detmold or the Innovation Campus Lemgo. Planning for this is underway; a concrete timetable will be announced in the course of 2025. TH OWL will ensure that all students are informed several months in advance and can continue to study and complete their programs without disruption.
